April? I have to wait till June 1. Did I pick the wrong Great Lake?

Winter's gone and we're into Mud Season now; actually got my first motorcycle ride in today. 6 weeks seems like a long time to wait till the frost danger has passed...

Coco: Last year I tried a mix of coco/local soil and sand/worm castings. The plants only grew for about 1 month before the slugs ate them, but they sure seemed happy during that month. I'll be trying that mix again this summer, in addition to a few other mixes.

I suppose that with coco the big pro is that you can carry a lot of it in one load, compressed. As a con, it doesn't actually contain significant nutes. I didn't worry about how well it holds water, since I was using coco in mounds built up on a marsh with plenty of water.

About to use coco outdoors this year, it's been working great for an indoor mix. 60% coco, 40% Humus, a nice bag of perlite, a full spectrum dry fertilizer (gotta have the micros) that also contains fungus and bacteria spores. Dry kelp, bone meal, blood meal, Alfalfa meal, Green Sand and I think that is about it.

The holes were dug last fall, just gotta go out and fill them up next month. I think the one problem with the coco, is that it takes so much water to hydrate that block. It takes gallons of water, so it's going to require a lot of work.

I have to travel several miles by my own energy, no motors being used so it's some work to get there and back. Looks like the line up so far is:

DP Blueberry
DP Orange Bud
DP Mazar
GH Bubba Kush
Mazar Kush
Fantaseed Afghani
Pakistani Valley
PM X-18
PM Purple Wreck
Blue Hash
Matanuska Tundra
DNA White Widow
