To grind or not to grind

I tend to just grind up all the buds after they are dried and cured so as to allow more to fit in one jar.

I go to gift some to a friend and they ask me why its already ground up. Claimed that storing it like that would lower the potency. Uhm... what? Is there something in that?

Yes, you break many trichs when you grind.

If you aren't gonna smoke it that session, don't grind it.

trichomes are very delicate and should be left untouched unless you plan on making hash then you want your buds to be whole bro

When your buds are dry as a bone... pop some into your grinder/pollen collector... give it 5-6 twists... hey presto, perfect fluffy budd, to go nicely into a Big Fatty Bom Batty! No tobacco of course!...
If im smoking on the bong, I just break off a nugg and smoke it straight... no need to grind :O)

Whoa, I'm so old I had to read this to find out what grinding was, now I have a clue, sorta...........as the old saying goes, take what you need and leave the rest (intact) Grind? Perish the thought!!!

When the herb is ground you expose more trichomes to the air and light, which breaks them down to other chemicals.
You also have more friction between the objects in the jar, which leads to more trichomes falling down.
And you don't see what was there before it got chopped.

I think people that grind are crazy.. i have a friend that does that with everything....He thinks its cool cause he gets kief out the deal... I think he is an idiot, that should stick to shwag.....HAHAHA

But, Ofcourse, To each his own...

I use to grind before I smoked now I just have gotten to the point where it gets to be to much work. It is just easier to break a chunk off and smoke it. Unless you are rolling a joint. then I just tear it up into little pieces. I guess I should break out my electric grinder since I am to lazy.

Cannabis is like garlic, tastes different depending on how you chop it. Best taste (in a joint of course, only way for true connoisseurs) is picked apart by hand. Second best taste is skillfully scissored. Worst taste is grinded.

If I am not loading it in to the Volcano I try not to grind at all. There is nothing like burning an entire unbroken nugget in your bong until it is a hunk of gray ash.

I always cut my herb up with scissors, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you there Mr.Green that joints taste the best, I find that a freshly cleaned glass bong is the best. YMMV of course

Glass...yuk. Always too hot or too cold. Hardwood or clay make much better bowls if you must smoke in a pipe.

i don't like those grinders with screens, or even the joint making boxes with screens to sift. in the end i want to be smoking that kif with my joint. i have a small board and a kitchen knife, i always chop my buds to the right consistency on that. i find it important for the taste and the burn of the joint to have the cannabis evenly chopped up. but grinders work too, i don't notice any less taste or hit, from ground buds, unless the kief is sifted out. i normally save the coffee grinder for those times when i need to make 10 joints or so, or to pulverize my bubble hash for easy scooping hit for hit.

there's no need to go mental with the grinder... your not making pulp...

Bone dry buds, crush to an almost fluffy dust, after just a cpl twists in the grinder...!
If I wound myself using scissors it was because I had wet weed. There's no need for scissors if your buds are dry, as you can crumble them in your fingertips.
My grinder is a pollen collector... it only takes a very small fraction of crystals from each go, barely nothing.... but after months of smoking it builds up & I get some bonus kief to smoke on the pipe!
If you roll a joint, and take a drag from it without lighting it, You get an amazing taste from the buds.
This is why smoking joints as tastier than any other smoking method.... you get the taste of the bud your smoking & also the taste & aroma from the rest of the bud in your joint.
With bongs & pipes, the bud is almost all burning at the same time, no aromas or flavour from fresh bud in the drag.

it really depends on how you're intaking your bud. I grind mine to dust (after its bone dry) for volcano vaping using the provided plastic grinder. Thing is the best grinder I ever seen.

Grinders are good for vaping but not so good for smoking in bowls I find. It burns too quickly in the bowl and gets harsh fast.

I prefer to take a tall shotglass (rather than stout) and use springed snips on the bud. chop it to hell and it is ready to go in a joint or bowl.

I mean really... what is a few lost trichs? If you have ever used one of the grinders with screens, you know you don't get that much trichs off of the grinded bud unless you do a LOT.
