Why doesn't everyone use super cropping?

I see alot of grows that have the typical marijuana shape, which results in inefficent use of the light (distance=less lumans/par). i just wonder why more people dont use supercropping as a way to get the canopy to be more level (better use of light). a more level canopy results in a higher yeild.

anyone want to enlighten me the reason so few use it(out of the many grows posted)

Some girls (strains) dont react well to it. Timing is also key in a nice bush. I personally love it though.

Shh.. dont tell anyone.. but you can grow sativas like indicas this way ;)

I'd say due to ignorance. They don't know this yet and there is a huge learning curve in growing that everyone goes through, each learning different things at different times depending on their own personal circumstance.
Not all strains benefit from this but most of them do.
I do it to all strains of cannabis so I know how they react.

Its not that they react badly. Its more of that some strains don't benefit too much from super cropping. Some strains that naturally grow dense and thick might not do best with a supercrop because they become too susceptible to diseases etc. because of it. Some strains end up with more leaf than bud and some strains just pefer to have one long cola.

For me particularly G Bomb was horrible super cropped
Laughing Buddha is a bit too dense to super crop but could still be done if lst'ing is also used.

some people just don't know how. others have different goals/needs. a style/technique that improves a micro grow with minimal lighting might not be needed in a bigger grow with ample lighting. remember, techniques like super-cropping and defoliating involve more work. and some growers prefer the KISS method.

Reacting badly would entail a plant producing less (or lower quality) bud than if it weren't supercropped.

You would only notice this if you had grown out the same plant with only supercropping as a variable.

I guess experimenting with different techniques on clones is the way foward for some but not others, those who take the dive will determine works or not for them. who knows maybe they'll be inspired and develop something on their own accord :)

thanks for the infomation

I have had many strains over the last year that wouldnt take to supper cropping. I'd squeeze in both directions , twist and push over and the next day it would be standing straight up.

every plant will naturally straighten itself when super cropped , I am primarily a scrogger and have been super cropping as part of a selection of techniques to maximise my yeild , the difference with me is that i super crop the whole plant about an inch above the base until i lays horizontal and attach weights to the top of the stem to keep it like that , some of the plants i have used this technique on have required over 10oz's of weight to keep them like that. this is my current plant

and this is it at the end of week 4 of flower

as you can see from the above pics I have pegged all the branches down so everything is level and the plant was also topped once it reached the idea length for my flower room , because of this combination i have ended up with 75+ budsites and with 5 weeks left i am looking at a pretty hefty yeild while only using 150w hps and 2 flouro's which is a total of 198w total

i think the time u lose doing super croping...
in 3 times u do this u could do 4 times normali.
but its cool learn and try new tecnics
seed the world be happy

Why doesn't everyone wear glasses? Probably due to ignorance.
First if all i did not imply anything rude whatsoever in my post.
I don't supercrop everything but I do top 95% of my plants as I personally found they do much better.
By the term ignorance, I meant it in the meaning of not knowing.
If you do not experiment with plants to see what they can or cannot do then you come form a stance of (not knowing) which is understood as ignorance.
It wasn't meant as an insult to anyone.
Sorry if my terminology bothered you.
Your glasses comment doesn't even make sense.

Not entirely following your logic, wouldnt supercropping be used in vegetative growth to get even canopy, used in early flower. super cropping in flowering i understand to an extent but in vegetative growth, you should have enough space to supercrop :tiphat:

There are as many different ways to grow as there are growers. Supercropping is like every other growing technique, it's another tool to have in your bag. I flower under a single 150. Say I want to grow out 12 plants from seed, and expect to end up with 6 to 8 females. What would be the point of training them all to be massive creeping bushes? I'd end up with a bunch of peripheral sites getting hardly any light. In a situation like this it makes way more sense to top once, or just grow short and thick single colas.

Frankly, I'm at the point these days where I care less and less about yield. Once you reach the stage as a personal grower where you consistently can grow more than you smoke, quality begins to matter way, way more than quantity.

I use the super crop method alot. I usually veg for over 2 months and sometimes run out of room. I love it because it produces a fat canopy of tops plus shortens the plants alittle. When it's time for flower the canopy fills out with lots of colas. It's a good way of getting a better yield for sure. I noticed an increase on overall yield last few grows. The super crop method works.
