yeh... im not a bigfan of autoflowers,,,,that could be 1 big problem waiting to happen,,,,it could stop us all cloning 1 day,,that would be a tragady,,an it would speed up the loss of genetic divercity too

check doc out testing fems from [sweetseeds],,yo doc,,PM me on that 1,,,did CB have a word with you:):)?

i have read this thread and i think you people all know what you are talking about..
especially doc, english.
Some fem sgrmtha autos came to my hands... :) do you know anything of them??
Great info's and points of views. I personally am a fan of fem seeds as long as they are trully fem, or at least have their intersexed trait well hiden. :)

It does seem like this topic goes in circles(nowhere fast) but it is a debatable subject thats worth discussing. Just because some1 disagree's w/anothers point of view doesnt give them the right to disrespect/belittle them. Baba ku for example even though he disagree's w/my opinion(and prob sick of hearing it) his reply is still respectful and honestly I myself am much more willing to listen/learn what he is saying. By the way, why has it been so civil in these threads lately? Its like the hatred neg vibes took a vacation(sp?) and have been washed away! Someones missing?

try running a pack of regular blueberry and i bet you find herms in them too - its in the genetics.

nothing wrong with fem seeds - if you only want females then its a valid choice. breeders make them largely because its what most people want.

Its not as easy to say feminized seeds suck or nothing wrong w/feminized, because what it comes down to is who breed em. who's the breeder and do they know their shit. Its stereotyping!
And Im guilty or stereotyping when I say feminized have more herm probs than standard. Ive read/seen many growers have problems(serious probs)w/feminized genetics. But its not completely fair to say they suck, cause there are a few breeders that might offer worthy feminized seeds. But IMO saying theres nothing wrong w/feminized is not true either. Theres breeders with down right awful feminized genetics(Dutch passion ect..)

And at the same time that applies to seedlots produced by Male/Female mating, repeated BC mating etc etc. so perhaps theres just not enough people breeding in a correct manner full stop.

In my opinion feminized seeds have come a long way.
Long ago growers didn't have the same knowledge and technology as they do today so fem seeds could be quite a gamble.
Because they aren't truly a 100% female seed there was a greater chance of them turning hermie, epecially under favourable conditions such as light leaks or heat stress.
Today there are plenty of top breeders making great fem seeds.
The only fem seeds I had a problem with is ones I feminized accidentally on my own, allowing a self pollination.
All the seeds did in fact turn feminized but they were hihgly unstable which is how they all used to be.
Now there are a great many seed breeders doing fem seeds successfully so we have more choice.
Lots of peeps don't like them ESPECIALLY breeders of seeds since there is SO much competition.

Fem seeds have found a place in professional growing whether some people like it or not.

I'm sure I will get lots of flack for posting this but so be it:comfort:

Yo Kopite

When we finally got the Exodus Cheese,, we grew it and we smoked it, we watched it being grown in many other gardens,, then we tried to stress it using natural methods,, like variations in temps and photo period.. and that specific clone just would not produce anything other than true female flowers... we even pissed on it.. lol

As we understand it colloidal silver only inhibits the female (x) side of the XY in cannabis,, allowing the male (Y) side to be expressed (thanks Gerrit)

Since all regular cannabis plants have an X and a Y,, then there should be no reason why a regular Skunk #1 plant like Exodus Cheese does not reverse... under chemical application. We have personally observed applications of CS onto Exodus Cheese clones before, and in that case,, nothing happened.

Moreover,, the many many seed companies now carrying fem. Cheese seeds (primarily Big Buddha Seeds) would have reversed the Exodus Cheese,, not BigBuddha's Cheese x Afghan,, were it was possible... since they ALL have access to the original Exodus Cheese clone.

For these reasons alone ,, we remain sceptical as to the fact if anyone actually ever feminized the Exodus Cheese cut.. rather than one of the many other often mistaken "Cheese" hybrids that circulate the UK.

Ask any Exodus Cheese grower if they EVER saw an intersex flower in the clone. The answer will be 'No' (not even a nanna). Those that answer 'Yes' are growing a different clone.

Peace n flowers
silver does not inhibit or effect genes it stops ethylene production which is needed for proper female flower development. the plants dna does not change.

Blue

I have tested EXCELLENT female seeds & utter rubbish female seeds the same as normal seed.

For me it depends on the bank you get them from as too many are only in it for the $$$.

Actually couldnt have said it better! And IMO theres more pro-feminized growers "speaking out" around here than not, and thats cool. Too each his own. Since there are so many good and bad breeders cranking out feminized seeds on the market now its hard to just say there good or bad(like blue said) just depends on the source.
