People that grow one strain - Don't you get tired of smoking it?

Some strains just work for certain people and when you find your keeper you become comfortable with it & the effects. I sometimes smoke other buds but in general stick to Sweet Tooth or a few crosses of it I have made for myself with related genetics. The medicinal effects it gives me are what I need and the high feels good so it's not a matter of being bored ever really. It's a matter of what works and it still gets me as high as I need to be in 2 or 3 tokes so at least with this strain it does not seem to fade in it's effect when smoked long term. I have heard some strains do lose their effect on people but I do not feel this is one of them plus if you experiment with harvest times the buzz can be very different from the same exact strain. Thankfully if I ever need something else there is a good variety to choose from around here, it is of course the Spice of Life. :canabis:

I'm a huge fan of Sweet Tooth myself man. I grew it outside a few years ago and ended up with around 12 zips. Stuff lasted me and my gf a long time and we were smoking it daily. It's one of the few strains I've smoked that I don't get a tolerance to when smoking it everyday, very peaceful and serene high from the two phenos we had. I find the high from that is a lot like my current favorite, Kandy Kush (OG Kush x Trainwreck), I also don't get a tolerance to that strain and it has that perfect balance of super soaring sativa and warm comfy body buzz. Been smoking it daily for the last year. For me Kandy is my keeper, along with OG Kush of course, those two just make me really happy. I'm currently growing out some bitchin sativas and oldschool strains, so it's highly likely I'll find a new keeper and be in love with it for the next year or two, maybe forever. Most likely will be between the NL5xHaze and the Grinspoon.

Guess if I had to only grow one or two strains, as I said it would be OGK and Kandy Kush, but really, like so many have said, Variety is the spice of life, guys. I really think it would be super hard for me to commit to growing only one or two. If you know what to look for and know your genetics you should be finding new killer strains to try out all the time without a problem. Not being able to find something as good as your favorite just means you're lookin in the wrong places imo. I have several strains on my top list that are tied for first place and find new ones often. :)

I am growing for myself so yield only matters that I have enough until the next harvest. I prefer having plants finish at different times so that harvest is staggered out also. I have never run a single strain grow yet so I can't really compare but I know from when I bought qp's to smoke that I get burnt out on smoking the same strain everyday.

Totally agree here, I'm all for quality over quantity as I grow for myself. Staggered ftw! It's great to harvest something and then a few weeks later harvest something totally new and different. Got a mix of like six strains going too, sativas, indicas, some of the sativas take 100+ days or more.

my friend grows nothing but GDP and purple so hes always hitting the club or me for some variety...i know a few growers who just sell their harvests and use the profits to buy some OG at the club..

I try to keep a two-three strains growing in decent rotation. I don't let to rotation get stale though. I try yo retire at least one strain a year. I am getting better at keeping bonsai moms. Hopefully that way I can get to keeping 10-15 strains around.

I hope you guys will forgive me for having a chuckle at this thread... It's not everyone who has the problem of always having a consistently high-quality stash on hand, instead of buying whatever they can get from whoever they can whenever they can find someone with something to sell, you know :)

Having said that, I've been smoking Lavender every day for months, and though I've built up some tolerance to it, I'm finding that it still works quite well for my pain and for relaxation and relief from anxiety. I still haven't found that one keeper strain that really works best, though, so I'd really hate to be restricted to only one kind.

:wave:Thanks bud, my username is from the book 'As she climbed across the table' by Jonathan Letham. Lack is the name of a black hole created in a particle physics lab that has a personality. :joint:

I have a lot of experience with growin and strains, so I like to help out when I can. Always been fond of ICM and just now have the time to check the forum at night and actually post a little. My grow is coming along nice and I'm considering doing a diary/journal here. I think this community is the best of the popular ones, seems to be a lot of knowledgeable, mature people here..

Carry on guys,
:smoke out:

I don't get how anyone can grow the same strains year after year. Most people I know who do this are in it to sell it so perfecting one strain only is much easier on the grower.
To me it seems pointless to keep the same mom for years.
After a while the plants DNA dwindles plus who wants to indulge in the same thing day after day.
Even my favorite strains I don't like to have consistently.
I usually grow a couple of dozen different strains @ once.
Trying LOTS of them, I'm sure to get some winners and have.
Never tried sweet tooth but heard so much about it that i will try it next year, especially knowing she is a good grower outdoors.
There are many indoor only strains that i will grow outdoors
I like a challenge

I'm a big fan of OG and Kandy kush also

Its a great question :tiphat:

Just starting an indoor Sweet tooth grow here too :) Can't wait!

I find as long as I have a daytime strain and a night-time strain then I'm fine and I don't get bored. If i'm smoking too much and tolerance goes up then it's time to take a break from smoking and normalize again. It's rarely a problem. But when you've got a strain you love, the longer you spend with it, the more comfortable you are.

I definetly need at least 2 different kinds of herbs. One for medication/relaxing/insomnia and another one for having fun/doing stuff>recreational weed ;D

Obviously this means indica and sativa dominant strains.

On my next grow I'm gonna pop 10 power plant seeds, I want to pop all ten to for making selections > making more seeds.
I also pop another 10 that includes probably afgan #1(medication) and my own cross C99 x Bubblegum (I need to test these! these are def gonna be recreational!) and maby I also pop couple feminised freebies just for fun of it! :D

Growing/smoking just one strain is booooring! ;)

Guess I would be satisfied with 4 strains. 1 full indica to get easy sleep, 1 mainly indica(60%) for TV and lazy daytime smoke, 1 mainly sativa(60%) for little bit more active daytime and 1 almost sativa(90%>) for socializing and special occasions.

One of my biggest reasons for growing the same strain rotation after rotation. Is to learn the strain. How it grows best, how much and what to feed. And Days to cut. Not to say that you cant get some great pot out of a one time run. But I really feel you wont get a strain dialed in until at least the third or fourth grow.

The other reason I feel people get stuck on one strain is that it works for them. I smoked Hashberry for a year straight. No it didn't get me stoned anymore. But it still did the trick for the muscle spasms.

Best person I ever found to trade buds with was my dealer. He would generally have a new strain every week. Was great for me and not a bother for him.

I always have like 10 strains going for my personal use. I get sick of stuff pretty quick and I feel like you stretch your getting high capabilities when I can smoke a few strains throughout the day.

A friend of mine always grows the same 2 strains, skunk and iced grapefruit. Yeah they're both good but just puffing on same strain all day after a few bowls you must not even be able to get high anymore. I tell him its worth the extra effort because you get a little more power from your meds but he doesnt believe it and hes pretty lazy.

I think most growers get spoiled being able to grow what ever you want when you want. The average joe that doesnt have a good hookup for some homegrown herb is just happy to get a decent bag.

I know some old dudes that have been smoking mexi mids for the last 25 years because its all they could get, now that shit has got to get old. I probly wouldnt even smoke weed if I had to smoke that.

I'm with ya'.

Anywhere from 8-12 strains at a time is the only way I can do this with full gratification. Now, I may run certain strains a few times, but I try to rotate new strains in.

I'll always give a new strain at least two runs as well.

yeah its a real bitch i smoke a fat jay of my nycd after work and by the time im home im grounded again and good to smoke another.

this stuff used to get me so fucked up i nearly missed my bus stop and had to stumble home and now its hardly working. kinda sux!

i always grow 2 strains for at least a bit of variety but its not really enough, i could smoke a new strain every other day :D

mugenbao said its funny how we guys complain about our luxus problems while other ppl have to smoke what they can get. honestly im usually horrified when i see what ppl around here smoke and usually deny their joints. i guess im officially a weed snob now but hey what can you do? i feel entitled to have the best and also have some variety hehe.

I build up a tolerance to *every* strain I smoke after a month.. except for the original clone only ECSD & OG. I smoked them for years straight without building up any kind of tolerance to either one. If I could still get my hands on those two cuts that would be the only thing I'd grow.. unfortunately my library keeper got busted last year and we're still trying to track down the people he gave them to that might still have them.

I believe growing out several strains in rotation at least 2 to 3 times is perfect but I find trying a non test strain from an up & coming breeder throws a wrench in the mix and see if you can find a keeper and then after a few runs with the untested strain you might very well find that diamond in the rough you were looking for.

Some good points in the thread and like Soft420 mentioned some strains might be perfect for you while not so perfect for others.

I spent the last 2 years smoking Blockhead and no I didn't get tired of smoking her.
Alas, she is now dead and gone forever :(

If the weed is that good then you don't get tired of smoking it. Some strains do tend to build up a tolerance quite rapidly while others you can smoke all day for months and get just as high every time.
