Nice grow but not even close to a real SOG.

SOG = Sea Of Green. And technically any grow could be considered a sea of green.

BUT traditionally a SOG means a bunch of SINGLE cola plants, usually at 4 plants per square foot or denser. Some have done 9 psf.

There really isnt much to it. Get a bunch of clones, root them and throw them into flower. Indica dominant strains may need 5-7 days of veg time.

Getting to know your strain will help alot in SOG, like when to lollipop, etc

If on any large scale, SOG is alot of work

I know its not but I worked with what I had in order to best attempt a SOG-like set up with the nine plants I had. I am in a little under 3 x 3 with 28 tops 28tops/9sq ft = ~3 tops/sq.ft. I have 3 tops per sq ft, best I could do. No trying to argue, he just wanted to see some ideas, so I wanted to point out what I did. If you could only see the canopy it very much looks like a SOG.

I would not SOG 5 plants. Let them get a little bigger and just train them. Maybe top them and grow some small bushes.

Again a TRUE SOG would be FOUR plants in a 12" by 12" spot

That 400 can cover a bigger area. Let the plants grow a little

Any SOG setup is going to require a bunch of mom material. You need to make sure that the strain you are running, you have picked the certain pheno that will cluster up nicely on a shorter plant. It takes a lot of trial and error to get it dialed in. And for me, the hardest part is keeping up with clone demand. Start making a shit load of moms, and once you have that .... you have 80% of the battle IMHO.

I'm having to start with 4 Cali hash plants clones,2 twilight,1 blueberry clone, and 1 super lemon haze clone. Maybe i can get something decent to start my adventure.once I get started i will post pics. I'm doing them in hempty buckets. Im anxious to see what this will turn out to be.I like all the advise maybe when i get dialed in i can start a sog thread.

hempy buckets and SOG?

A SOG is single cola plants. That means no side branching. Why would you do that in hempy buckets? You would have alot of empty space

Lot going on in those pics above, esp under the table. Upskirt shots very educational. I've discovered that perlite isn't the mess I once thought it would be -- even in an E & F. Drip systems would sure save on weight but figured it to be rather complex maintenance-wise and during crop rotation. May have to re-think that. Can't wait 'til I can afford a real reservior - these bulging sided Depot containers make me nervous.

Hempty buckets arent ONLY in 5gal. 2Liter hempy's are GREAT for SOG. If ya wanna see how its done all sorts of different sog ways (Lollipopping, ect) google "Al B. Fuct". He has wonderful information on perpetual SOG. Depending on strain and light, you want 1-4 Per sq ft. I dont see many large scale SOGs... or any sogs really over here. But on a different site, many people are doin it. Even seen CFL's and 16oz beer cups... Huge colas!

Very nice SOG High Country! What kind of yield do you expect to pull from that? How long does that strain run? I have been thinking of doing a set up very similar to yours this winter.

This is the first run I've done with 1000W. If I get 1 gram per watt I'll be happy. The strain is unknown however it is a full on indica and displays typical indica traits. I have kept it going for about 8 years. It can finish in 6-7 weeks.
