Thanks full duplex! Keep in mind with autos outdoors, sunlight duration is the name of the game. Get em up and fast... Our soils here are pretty fertile, but they do need amending.. I use the same plots year after year, and the ones that didn't get fert this year, got it the last 3 or 4 in the spring and guano in the fall... Mother nature takes good care... Sometimes she likes to play a little joke and either hold all the rain, or make it come way too much... Our job is to make it work out and learn from it.... :)

The winter will cause some N to be leached, but Phosphorous and potassium are held to the soil more strongly so they tend to stick around from year to year... I use all organics, so the secret, I think is getting the microbes and little bugs in the soil full of nutrients (immobilization) that way there is always a reservoir of food for the plants (mineralization)...

Great info!! I figured that the main goal with autos outdoors is the amount of light. I have a few places that they will get a decent amount all day of direct light. Somewhere in the 14-18 range so this should kick em into gear.

I agree thats the same way i grow the veggies, although i tend to the soil year round adding, cow, chicken and horse manure. Throwing in some light sand for drainage as we have clay here where i am. There are a few other things that i add to get the little guys in the ground going good, but i miss the fertile land of WV. You can turn a spade and the soil is as black as the coal in the mines. I learned most of my gardening skills there from my grandfather and you know the soil is GOOD when you see 12-14'' night crawlers in it :)

Do you know it is funny gardening when you move from your native counrty..coz all the bugs over here are different..
I'm having to learn which ones are friends and which ones are enemies....:look at this:

The Black-line f1's..at the front..
and the F2's at the back..
you can see why I think they resemble Paki-ryder.

Nightcrawlers are what Americans call earthworms, typically the larger longer earthworms. Great for fishing and for soil!

what are night crawlers...?
Its a different name for earth worms

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightcrawlers

we used them just like the description and hunted them the same way:dance013:

I come from a family of miners (as well as gardeners) so with the abundance of headlamps it only made since. Just to give you an idea of the soil quality, i can remember as a child looking out my window at night and seeing 4-5 lights roaming my grandfathers entire yard looking for these beasts.

If you ever want to check the level of Nightcrawlers/earth worms in your soil there are two ways to do it fast.

1. Take some warm water and add some liquid dish soap to it, and a good but, and pour it in one location. If there are any worms in that soil you'll see them.
2. The other is a little more complicated. Get to metal stakes and drive them in the ground connect a car battery to one side and then complete the circuit by adding water between the poles and sit back and watch. This too will draw them out.

**Tip if you try the soap method they will die after about 5 min the soap suffocates them. The shock woks better to keep them alive, if you do this then when your done throw them in your compost, both the worms and your plants will thank you.

I'm having to learn which ones are friends and which ones are enemies

Im still learning the ones in the south as the ones where i grew up were a little different. But i couldnt imagine another country, lord only knows whats out there:thinking:

I do see it, and this gives me a little faith that my BB may color a little in the last few weeks. Seems that this one is late into flower.:dance013:

Definitely something enticing about that paki rider... Love me a good indica plant....

Thats funny to hear about your problem identifying different pests/ beneficial insects there... There are a lot of times insects in the same family that play similar roles in the ecosystem, they just look different... Just be sure not to bring any "beneficials"back from anywhere else. Invasive pests can be a huge problem out of context... Emerald ash borer is threatening all of our ash trees. It was just discovered a few years ago, and we fount out it was in several states migrating in from a shipment the NE...

Out to spray poison ivy around the cornfield today.... And wey hey, we've got a GOOD dose of rain scheduled later!!!! :headbange :smoke:

Yeah been quiet. Went on vacation for several weeks to Thailand. Got back and a bunch of MMJ laws here had changed. Had to tear down some of my grows, drop some of my patients, basically had to reorganize and regroup. This summer has been one of the hottest in years. When I got back from vacation, most of my grow rooms were in shambles. Lost a lot of plants. Got a visit from the local law enforcement, but it wasn't a big deal as I had all my paperwork in order and I was under my allowed plant count (6 per patient). The electric company also decided to raise the price of electricity - my bill more than doubled! Plus to top it off, my full-time job laid some people off so I've had to work overtime. Glad to have a job but the extra hours are wearing me out! And with the changes in the law, looks like my plans of becoming a full-time grower aren't going to pan out. The licensing fees are just too high & the paperwork involved now to be a commercial grower is too much! So sticking with just keeping it a hobby and helping out a couple of patients too. I don't charge my patients anything for their meds, as their plant numbers allow me to grow multiple strains, which we all get to enjoy!

On a happy note - my vacation was GREAT! I was able to pick up some seeds while there, and mailed them back to me. But found out yesterday they didn't make through customs. They were confiscated. Luckily they weren't addressed in my name.

Still have your beans. Which once I get my rooms back up to par, I'll be popping them. The weather is finally starting to cool off - just need to find the time. Have decided to try to simplify my grow-op and run just autoflowers from now on. I think the strains are finally getting to where they need to be in terms of potency & yield (though can always be improved upon!).

Once I get pics of the ladies, I'll either post them here or send them to you direct.
Glad to be back though miss Thailand terribly!

Seems to me you have an arsenal of defense there Mossy, i but you never see a mite, aphid, or gnat with these guys around.

I have to share something though, i was doing a tric inspection the other night when i saw something that made me laugh. We have several types of skeeters in the area and two in which are in abundance the giant skeeter and then the little black ones.
as i was looking at the trics i saw one that had landed on a tric covered leaf and got stuck and died! I had to laugh as he died a wonderful death, in the fields of BW trics!!

Ty_Kaycha...damn m8..
apart from your trip..the rest is a bit of a let down...

Got a visit from the local law enforcement, but it wasn't a big deal as I had all my paperwork in order and I was under my allowed plant count (6 per patient).
I've heard that sometimes they will hassle you even if you have all your papers in order.

And with the changes in the law, looks like my plans of becoming a full-time grower aren't going to pan out.
That is Sad to hear.

The licensing fees are just too high & the paperwork involved now to be a commercial grower is too much!
Knowing the US...they will probably get a doctor to check you out incase you are growing horns and a tail under your clothes.

So sticking with just keeping it a hobby and helping out a couple of patients too. I don't charge my patients anything for their meds, as their plant numbers allow me to grow multiple strains, which we all get to enjoy
!

Yeah..I would enjoy that too.

I was able to pick up some seeds while there
My chest hurt with envy then...
But found out yesterday they didn't make through customs. They were confiscated
.
then fell into me boots...

that is SAD.....

Have decided to try to simplify my grow-op and run just autoflowers from now on.
IMO..it is a Lot easier with AF's once you have the hang of them..
BUT...
how will it affect the ruling about 6 plants..
do they have dispensation for AF's since they are only little...:dunno:

I think the strains are finally getting to where they need to be in terms of potency & yield (though can always be improved upon!).
Yup..my opinion too.
They just get better and better.....
and we understand them more..
so we grow them better.
They have us trained.

Feel free to post them here when you grow..
I can't resist canna porn
