Help me to not burn my face off - Bong Ash Catcher Angle

So, I just got a new bong, a G-Spot 18.8 tank fitting. Anyway, when I put an ash catcher into this thing, the bowl is dangerously close to my face. If the flame goes down into the bowl, I get a nice rip, if the flame goes up, my face gets burnt off.

Solutions? Thanks!

looks like you didn't think things through when you decided on the ash catcher? no idea what you can do at this point, except maybe a new bong which won't have the ash catchers bowl close to your face anymore or get a new ash catcher to achieve the same, or just use the bong without the new toy :)

last choice is hard one i know :)

What ash catcher do you have?

try turning the ash catcher around slightly to angle it away from your face.
use a compact "torch" style lighter.
get a recessed downstem for your ash catcher to reduce the height, keeping it away from your face.

use one of those torch style blue flame lighters, they direct the flame in a single direction and burn the butane fuel much more completely which is almost as important to your health as not burning off your face.......

id suggest looking into a bushing downstem. this will bring the height down a little as it sits nearly flush with the GonG joint. this is probably the simplest and least expensive option. if this is too simple and you want to go nuts, sell your A/C and invest in an inline A/C. that way you are most likely getting better diffusion without taking up vertical space, but using space in front of your tube.

I had a roor with a center perk before, but I couldn't clean the middle chamber for shit. Anyway, here are some pictures:

Do they make an angle elbow for Gong bongs?

BTW, does that half an ounce of Green Crack bubble hash make that ridiculous bowl piece look any better?

Get one of those plug in lighters like Phedor or modify a soldering iron. There are 100's of threads about these topics on here.

Personally I like using a glass stick that I heat up with a torch.

seeing those pics, a bushing downstem will buy you about another inch. like i said its the cheapest option, probably run you about 15 bucks. if you decide to look at the inline A/C's, your bowl will be at about stock height. the only drawback of the inline is the price tag. the ones ive hit worked great, but they run about a hundred...give or take.

either of these options will let you use whatever lighting instrument you have on hand, be it a bic, torch, phedor, bee line or a stick you took out of the fire.

Perhaps smoking your bong with the bowl turned 90 degrees to the left or the right?

i like the macguyver setup you have going there, but be aware that by adding another a/c on there you are putting crazy pressure on that joint. even with it being a "tank" joint, im not sure how much it can take. my guess is that its a similar joint to what RooR uses and they have been known to snap under the pressure.

im glad you arent lighting your face on fire, but if you arent careful you could be in tha market for a new tube sooner than you think.

The tank joints on G-Spot tubes are strong as fuck, a few ash catchers wouldn't cause it to break. If anything the downstem would give in first, but it's no big deal with those two

I'm pretty sure the ash catchers would break first, as they should, since they were only $10, and $30 for the 4 arm AC.
