2k Vertical in a Tent?

C

Cheeb

Hey all,

I'm in the process of expanding a friend and would like to play vertical this time.

We have a 4'x8' Darkroom 240W

Is anyone doing vertical bare bulbs in a tent and still staying cool?
Is there enough room in a 4x8 space to drop two vertical 1000w lights with a circle of plants around each?

We'd like to do something Northern Farmer stadium style with 2 rows of plants on the floor and another row on a slightly higher shelf circling the perimeter of the tent, but I feel that the 4' width isnt enough to do it this way. That'd only leave 2' on each side of the 1K lamp.

Anyways - we water with blumats in coco pots so the plants need to stay relatively low to take advantage of the gravity feed.

Anyone have any ideas that we could go vertical in this small 4x8 darkroom?

We have 3 600w lights at our disposal as well if that'd be better suited for something northern farmer stadium style down the middle of the tent. Still dont know if we'd have enough room.

As for keeping cool. House has NO ac. Right now we pull through a can filter 66 w/ 6in vortex and send that heat through 1800w daystar ACs to an upstairs unused bedroom. Intake is just passive off the basement floor. Its worked this summer.

So - any suggestions.

4x8 Darkroom
2 1000w lights and 3 600w lights at our disposal
Various 6" inlines as well as a MAX 8" available
Daystar ACs available if we MUST go horizontal

Winter is headed so we want to take advantage of the cold weather as well as heat the house to keep gas bills low.

This 4x8 Darkroom would be in addition to another 4x8 darkroom that sits in the same basement that we'll continue to run 1800w horizontally.

Thanks-

note - Have ran vertical bulbs before / 9 600w lights hung bare bulb vertical with a lot of plants underneath. Yielded well but think we should have done less plants to actually drop the bulbs down in the canopy to take advantage of true vertical style.

I think you could do the 2 1000's. But it really depends on what strains your growing and how long you are vegging etc.

If I had that I would divide the box into 2 4x4 boxes. and put 1 1000 watt and 1 600 watt stacked. on each side.

then just circle plants around each light. for a total of 1600 watts on each side.

ive ran 3k in a 4x8 tent vertically with cool tubes. I had to put a small ac in there but honestly 3k was too much. I shut off a light towards the end because the plants got too close to the tubes. I did 2k before and actually produced more than when I did with 3k. Heat issues just killed me.

The way i fit is stack the cool tubes on top of eachother and hang them in the middle. 6" can fan blows through them to keep it semi cool. I put all my plants on the edge in 6" slab trays that can be purchased at hydro stores. I built 8 inch wide racks that hold the slab trays. The trays are 4 feet long so i run 2 on each 4 foot side and 4 of the trays on the 8 foot side.

I ran 4 750 watt bulbs in cool tubes in a 4x8 and the temps were fine.

What I did was stack two tubes on top of each other, and put spaced them evenly out. I had plants around 3 walls, with one of the short ends open so I could get in.

I pulled air through each of the cool tube stacks, up through the top of the tent (yes I cut holes in the roof of the tent), and then those two tubes connect with a T, which then goes to an 8" fan and out through a carbon filter. Works great!
