My future mediums will also include worm castings and additional amounts of chitin to increase the level of chitinase as a pest deterrent.

crippled1.. i will have to look into it..
and yes im with you - it's a new bug nobody knows much about.. you go talk to people with years of experience and they have never seen this.. let's hope we all could learn from it and find the way to illuminate it completely..

Well, I'm glad I didn't buy the Pyganic 5.0 then. It's possible acephate or avid might be effective as a rootzone drench.

Clark, that bug is not the same... I don't know what it is, but I have seen it on my roses outside.... Your bug is much larger from what i can tell....

Little help from the big dogs please?

Im still trying to deal with this issue.... I haven't seen a plump aphid in like a month, so im starting to lean toward some kind of soil (though its on my rockwool/hydroton) mite, not baby aphid... Foramite works great on leaf mites, but I once used it as a root application and it killed the girl in a matter of hours.....so i am left to assume the bayer got the aphids, and is helping with these yellow bastards but not kiling them altogether.

Thanks

I got this from a member of another forum to use orthomax lawn and garden at 1/10th strength for a rootzone drench.
The label of the concentrated stuff (not the ready to use) says to mix 1.5 oz per gallon and use as a foliar spray.
Apparently that rate is too strong to use on the roots. 1/10th of that would make the mix ratio about 5 ml per gallon.
Give it a try I'm curious if it will work. Of course you may have to mix it stronger.
You will be able to tell if it's effective right away since it's a contact killer.

Hypoaspis to the rescue!

Hypoaspis to the rescue!

These fuckers came back in my current crop.
I dumped 25000 hypoaspis miles predator mites into 24 pots which is about 1000 per pot!
In 2 days my girls were looking happier.
They've been at work now for 4 days and my plants look really good at day 20. I HIGHLY recommend these and will be using them as a preventative in future grows.
