Electric Bill

for those of you in high kw/h pricing areas ... this is a perfect reason to look at quality LED lighting .... less wattage on actual lights (typically for same yield)... less heat so less A/C usage and less ventilation usage which means even less overall of an electrical bill.

due your math .. the cost may make sense for you and be cheaper in the long run to switch.

just a suggestion.

my electric company charges more money for a deilvery charge than it does for actual electric usage. straight insanity. i just got a 1300 dollar electric bill because my actual usage was WAY more than what they budgeted it to be. holy fuck and i am only running 1200 watts

Ok this is pure insanity. I am in NOR CAL run 6k for lights a 1200 BTU AC, fans, t5s for mothers..ect and pay on average $250 per month and about $400 in the summer.

Step one: Get on PGE's time of use meter. Assuming your like any other grower, you use your lights at night, thus should not be charged for Peak Hours. PGE will tell you not to get one but trust me it saved me 30%. http://www.pge.com/mybusiness/myaccount/explanationofbill/largebiz/3/
(PGE now charges $270 for install but you will save that in your first month)

Step Two: Get on your PGE CARE program. You may have to fib a bit and say you only make less then 30K per year but trust me ive been on it for over 6 years. They send a letter asking for proof of come and i always send a letter back from a friend saying i work for them PT for like 10 and hour. Last months CARE discount was over $1000. It keeps you from paying premiums for extra usage.

If you live in California and do not do both of these you are fucking insane and throwing your money away to a fascist monopolized corporation!

NOTE: Both programs take one billing cycle to take effect.

Not even close.

Assuming your on Ediso, and depending on the size of your house, you will be at about $1200+ every 30 days.

Edit: saw the 8k and assumed you were doing 8k worth of lights, not 5k + ac/others. So more like 1200 to be safe, I always estimate a little higher. Get your posts up to 25 and shoot me a private message.

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah i was doing the math and was estimating around 1300. But it shouldn't arouse any suspicion for the amount of use right? Considering I will be paying the bill on time every month. Like i have stated before this will be a legal med grow. Me and a few med patients have all the proper documents to prove it is a collective. Dont want Johnny LAW coming knockin down my door if you know what I mean.

This is like the Walmart manager that encourages his employees to go on Welfare.
No offense, You do what You feel is right.
I just find it sad and disgusting when people scam the system (corporate or government) to take money/funds that are meant to help the legit poor in our society get a foot up.

Sincerely,
a decorated US military war Veteran

As long as you pay your bill on time, you should be just fine, yes. No worries there.

Good info, I hadn't gotten a chance to type it all out but if your up north this is very common practice. I'm not sure if they have the time of use meter down south but they do have the CARE program down in SoCal

Running a 6k op for 6 yrs and can't pay your electric bill?
Or just don't ~want~ to?

8# x 5 x 2500 x 6yrs = 600k

Might as well go get a McJob for the peanuts your pulling down...

Now who's the 'capitalist pig'?

We have a 2000 square foot house with old windows, old doors, and a shitty air handler that some moron put a HUMIDIFIER on back in the 80s that is rusted out and sitting on the slab. This winter, our 2400k (flowering) / 1k (veg) with separate AC and all other electricity was $200, of course I kept the heat really low (60/65) and am frugal with all other electric. So the garden plus normal electrical consumption is around $200. Then this summer, with the ac running all the time and our shitty air handler and windows and doors = $500.

So what really costs around here is my shitty old air handler and windows and doors, NOT my garden. Or rather, the garden costs no more than $200 a month.

I just needed to vent there for a minute. There is a reason I'm growing, my house is literally finding new ways to cost me money by the day. Sigh. Please excuse my complaining, we ARE working to FIX the situation, and I just need to be patient.

Anyhow, one thing to think about is the efficiency of your house, I think a budget of $1200 is probably realistic, considering that CA is so expensive, you're running about twice as many flowering lights as us, and you want to budget for your highest level of power use (assumably summer since you live in CA).

Cut the poster some slack, RMCG, you aren't walking in his shoes. Let's be encouraging not shooting barbs at fellow ICMaggers for no good reason. :huggy:

sorry man, there is nothing to encourage about ripping off (or telling others to rip off) programs that are designed to help the legitimate poor. RMCG may choose a harsh tone but IMO he is right.

Scum bags that look to get free rides and beat the system at the expense of others are NOT the citizens I put my life on the line defending. I say to them, get the hell out cuz there are plenty of people willing to take your place that will treat this country and the other citizens here with respect.

Juice was up to 500 this summer......

2 1000's, 1 400, 2 T5's, fans, dehue......etc.

Plus the rest of my house.....so I didn't think that was too bad.

Juice costs 16 cents/kwh.
