I put too much Bleach in my reservoir...

you meant 2ml.. but put in 40ml?
i know its not what you want to hear, but your going to have to empty that out.. scrub the hell outta the reservoir and make new nutes :/
Kinda off topic but I know how you feel... :
I once filled up 4, 5 gallon jugs of RO water. It took 6 mins for the small boy RO unit to fill up 5 gallons so 30 mins to fill them all up.
I put in all the water into my res. It was late, I was sick and tried. So I decided to take 1 gallon of water, and mixed 20 gallons of nutes into the 1 gallon jug, so I didn't have to go back and forth back and forth. From grow room to bathroom (I hate spilling micro, it stains and leaves a sticky mess)
Once I was done, the nute water looked very funny (The nutes had crystallized ) but I figured it wouldn't matter. I then added the 1 gallon into the 19 gallons of fresh RO water.
To my horror there were fat ass chunks of nutes still floating around no matter how hard I mixed.
I then had to spend an HOUR dumping the res 1 gallon at a time, and basically redoing the whole thing
lesson learned, never cut corners. And if you are iffy about something plant related, its probably for a good reason.

yes indeed dump it and clean the tank before you refill. don't add bleach unless you have a specific reason. i have never added bleach to my tank so can't imagine why you'd want to?
initial root rot kill - 2 ml per 10 gallons
to maintain to rot - 1 ml per 10 gallons, every other day...
ahh that's the thinking behind the bleach, interesting. for some reason i've never had root rot in my coco setup. nice fix though, specially on short notice, i mean everyone has bleach at home right?

Do you think I should still dump out the rez and start over or letting it aerate for a few days will be ok?
I would dump it out, and rinse it a few more times
yup, not sure the amount that would harm the plant, but pretty sure your there.....
maybe you could wait a few days? can buy a strip at the pool store(dont remember what one) it tells the amount of bleach in your water.....

I've been battling what I believe to be brown algae. Someone recommended I add bleach at 10ml/gal every two weeks. This was well over a week ago, and I've seen no ill effects so far. Keeps the reswater nice and clear. FWIW, I'm using RO water and recirculating my nutes. You're under 2ml/gal. Don't think it'll be an issue unless you're using tapwater that already contains a lot of chloramines.

No worries man, Thank you for pointing me the right way. I noticed that you are using those tuff boxes. If they are the ones with yellow lids then maybe there is light sneaking through the lid...which may lead to badness. Just a thought.

As I understand it, dechlorination products will work on the bleach.
Not sure on the amount you need to use, too lazy to do the calculation on ppm of NaOCl per gallon, but once you figure that out you'll know how much to use.
Ascorbic acid will work, and is the active ingredient in high quality Vitamin C tablets. It is water soluble, so you can dissolve the tablets in water and filter out the starch and stuff they use in the pills.
Each tablet should have like 500mg of ascorbic acid, or half a gram.

Or you could just dump it and pour another 25 gallons, which seems a bit easier

well this thread shows what a bunch of stoners we all are, if you wanted 2 ml per gallon and you added 40ml to 25 gallons you are still 10 ml of bleach short lol. now i don't know anything about using bleach for this purpose, but i know maths when i bother lol. so if the recepy calls for 2 ml bleach per gallon you can add 10 ml more to that 25 gallons of water

Never heard of a tuff box. Got the over-priced white Botanicare table and res. I'm sure a little light gets though, but not too bad. I figure the bleach should take care of any funk before it gets a foothold, though I have had a few tiny little slime bits floating about. Not sure what it is, but I don't think it was caused by the bleach. Other than that, it's staying really clear. Before I started adding the bleach, the whole thing would cloud up after only one flood. Good luck with everything
