YOUR WORST/DISAPOINTED/OVERATED STRAIN(S)

Never grown Silver pearl myself, but know now 3 growers that grow it and everybodys SP is total junk. Appeal and tricomes looks good, but smell is close to hay and high is missing. I think that only 7 wks flower time is what matters there.
2 last nights I haven't got anything but a headache from it. Why the fu*k people even grow this garbage.

DNA. Total jokes. And I even had a chance to speak with one of them about my purchase and the ensuing disappointment and all that did was reaffirm some things I had learned about them from growing their gear. Bought a bag of "pure indica landrace" beans that showed wildly different types, only popped 6 at first and all 6 displaying wide variances. Some very sativa leaning, some very indica, few in the middle. 4 out of 6 females, all showed hyper-sensitivity to N toxicity, even EWC/molasses/kelp would give them leaf claw. Crazy. Decent smoke at best, which was the real disappointment. I could deal with them lying about the landrace, never been bred with info but the fact their wasn't even a keeper for potency or taste made it real disappointing.

Some seed companies show up in lists like these over and over again. When that happens there's probably a reason.

On the other hand different people react differently to the same strain. The perfect example happened to me just a few days ago. I harvested my first Mendo Purps plants and for me I found it to be the best medicinal plant I've ever tried. Great pain relief, very clear high that wasn't disorienting and I'm still functional on it. I've been smoking Black Domina for a couple of years and I like this new stuff even better.

I gave a couple of ounces to another patient to try and she hated it. She said it didn't get her high, didn't provide any medical effects for her and she gave it back to me because she had no use for it. Not only the same variety but actually buds off the same plant, so no difference between the samples, just the people.

We all have different reactions to chemicals. I remember in high school a biology teacher gave out little pieces of tape and told us to chew them. I just about threw up from the taste, nobody else could taste a thing. Turns out it's a genetic trait about 2 percent of the population can taste that particular flavor while other people simply can't detect it. The same is true for many other things.

Like I said if a strain or a seed company shows up over and over again as sucking that's significant, but don't let a bad review or two put you off. Another example, I grew out Mandala #1 and ended up with just one female and it was the worst plant I've ever grown. It had absolutely zero trichs and no high at all but looked just like the pix other than that. I know Mandala doesn't suck, I just lost the genetic lottery and got a freak phenotype, one of those damn things.

Listed as having a very heavy lemon scent (it did) that's a powerful sativa.

Man... even the most sativa pheno was couchlock... even with only 5% amber.

The worst part? BAD ATTITUDE WEED! At least for "My" head.

Out of 3 females I had 3 different phenos. Decent Sativa, Squat indica and tiny indica. The shorter plants had more couchlock.... that's about it. Great tasting and pretty dang good yield... on the largest.

I had only cloned the largest.... pulled her up and let her dry out on the garbage heap. F'n waste of my time and it screwed me up in the head daily for almost a month. Pbbbbt!

Only good part about it is they were free seeds to me. *shrug*

Violator Kush from Barneys? It was horrible! It smelled like overcooked egg yolk, and tasted like it too. I puked everytime I took a hit. Seriously! every time! I ended up making oil out of it, then throwing that away too. Dont ever get that one. Unless Your pranking someone.

G13-Haze from Barney`s was poor. Grew 5 from seeds & all 5 we`re sativa dom & reached 6ft. The Church from Greenhouse got mould, but i`ve had amazing results with El Nino, Lemon Skunk, Hawaiian Snow & Trainwreck.
Sensi seeds Northern Lights was a waste of cash, none of them popped.
I`ve had great results from cheap seeds & crap results from expensive seeds. I always try to buy strains from the original breader, but sometimes they are too expensive. (like Mr Nice SSH, i`m growing the GH version at less than half the prise)

Anyone with hyperactive neurotransmitters that efficiently and effectively negate the psychoactive properties of THC...or any typical medium to heavy weight toker...will find more and more strains to be nothing but an exercise in inhalation.

The big thing to look out for are fan-boys that get high on one puff of schwag, let alone a top shelf strain, and then get all excited about it. Those fucks get on here then and post like strain x is the holy grail of toking and how everyone needs to have it.

The most disappointing clone was Rene. The most disappointing seed line was Blue Moonshine.

I thought I was really going to love both but both were compost IMO.

TFD's G-force one of there new femed strains. After being very pleased with there PotOfGold I figured with the genetics would be easy to grow heavy yielding plant. I got the complete opposite. Last time I ordered A strain not intensely researched on here.

lowlife hindu kush(horrible name and a HORRIBLE strain).. 3 plants produced 3.8g total, and it was crap.
dutch passion blueberry-both females hermied. horrible calyx to leaf ratio. smelled like candy but horrible otherwise..
banana kush clones from socal-crap. plain and simple.. nothing about it was nice.. looked like crap.. hardly any trichomes.. smelled and tasted like hay. no idea why people are passing this around.
mendo purps-just disappointed in this cut.. nothing special at all

My experience....only 1 out of 4 had any scent at all, they're all hermies and the high is weird and unpleasant. Same goes for Jack the Ripper, Dairy Queen and Agent Orange, although AO had one plant that couldve been a "keeper" if all you had was ditchweed and didn't herm.

Want to say thanks for making this thread as it matures it will be more clear what are seemingly bad companies/strains.

I've grown a lot of seeds now and what is echoed over and over again in this thread, I agree with.

  • Out with the big companies in with the small...
  • Out with the old and in with the new...
  • Most old genetics don't compare...
  • GHS WW and GWS suck...
  • If they aren't around here anymore they suck

Just so happens my biggest let downs were WW, GWS, TFD BB x Skunk, and MNS Mango x Widow (not one decent plant out of like 10+ pathetic).

I no longer will buy a strain from any moderate sized-big company selling more than 10 different strains unless the strain has been documented in multiple threads by good growers. If you have any concept of how true breeding is really done than this makes perfect sense as to why big companies suck.

I have found the smaller breeders with small lists of wares to be absolutely outstanding in comparison to all others.

I have found companies not on this site to be mostly-all in all majority rip-offs. Some good ones no doubt don't get me wrong, but the ones that used to be on the site and the ones that get the big press generally are terrible...

If they used to be on the site there is a good reason they are no longer here...

Romulan. The first few times I tried it I thought it was pretty good. But after a bit, it just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I even began to realize I had yet to meet one I liked very much at all. I grew one out a couple years ago and though it was beautiful and yielded nicely, I hated it. In fact, once done I couldn't even stand to be in the same room with it.. I know this is a highly rated strain for other folk, but it is one that, for whatever reason, I just do not have any appreciation for.. I know it's weird, but it has a certain quality in the smell/taste I just do not like. Anything.... But Romulan....

I even tried water curing it once. And though the smell/taste quality was greatly reduced, it was still present enough to dislike it.
