What nutes and why

Just thought I might pop this one in here.

It would have been helpful when I first started out. Just to help wade the the eyebrow deep doo doo surrounding nutes.

It's so hard to find solid facts about the wide array of nutes commercially available on the market today. Every time you find some information you get to the bottom just to find it's a damn ad, pumping you full of half-truths and hype so how do you know what to believe.

One brand or type of nute is never enough you need this or have to add that and to be honest it's f*%@#n confusing. I mean they grow outside without all this and if the soil I'm buying for 25 bucks a bag doesn't provide it then why pay so much for dirt.

So hopefully people will stop by and add their two cents, let us know what you use and the results because spending hundreds of dollars on nutes I believe is plain ludicrous.

I know there are plenty of soil amendments out there which are probably better than water in nutes but lets face it not everyone has the space and time required to mix our own soils so lets try and keep this to water in nutes only

I use General Hydroponics 3 Part Flora @ 6:0:9 for veg and KoolBloom @ 1tsp per gal additional during flowering, fnal flush for 2 weeks. Medium is hand watered coco in summer, 5 gal DWC otherwise.

Cheap, reliable, consistant excellent results.

Yes I have. This had the easiest chart to follow/build for me & made the most sence for my set up. I also watched many other growers dabbel in other methods helping with our local CC. I used a lot of different stuff before but never a full set line untill FF. My Sig has links to my grow reports in which ive been playing with fox farm products. I do my best to track everything I did through my grow reports.

I don't want to risk DWC in summer due to temps.
Even when I use DWC I use coco instead of Hydroton or rock wool, so in summer I just skip the possibly problematic high res temps. The nutrients remain the same with the same proportions. I have also used the same nutrients/ proportions in soil. The only difference is the ph: I ph everything in coco to ~5.5 ph while in soil it's ~6.8.

I used to have a 500 acre working farm and did the organic "thing" but for the last few years I've been on a "life simplification" thing. The formulation I use now works in all mediums I've tried.

Ive used General Hydro, Fox Farm, and dabbling with Roots Organic. I recommend hitting up Aurora Innovations, ask about their product sample program. $20 gets you Soul Synthetics or Roots Organics lineup. For about the $20 of that, you can also pick up General Hydro. I do just Floramicro and Bloom per old Lucas. Works MUCH better then when i, and my friend used Fox Farm. Its a great starter fert... but i think there is much better for much cheaper... I.E. GH. But over all, I recommend doing the Roots Organics deal. WONDERFUL nutrient lineup, and for $20! Cant beat that with a bat!

I also suggest trying ALL sorts of different nutes. Start with fox farm... you may like it. Then move to GH, ect ect. Try the full lineup, and try mixing with other stuff. Find what works for you, and what works for your garden.

Now I use Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Grow & Bloom
During flower I like to add Jamaican Bat guano about every third feeding and top it with some Mollasses a couple weeks after I flip from vegg

How do you like it? Try side by side with some GH or something. I would LOVE to see how you feel on the results. More often then not i see people not like AN, but i soooo want to give them a try. Im just broke as a joke right now...

But i would love to hear if you feel the savings of GH over AN is worth it or not...

Soul Synthetics or Roots Organics
Pureblend Pro Bloom & grow
My hydro shop doesn't carry any of the brands mentioned above, but I'd try it if they did.

Auroras so confident, you can pick up their full line for $20 shipping. E-mail them and ask for a 2010 Trial forum. Then after you use it and like it, run down to your hydro store and recommend it. If they wont bring it in, they are a sucky store and you shouldnt shop there. The hydro store i have started going to will order anything, and if theres request or they see the producting being worth - they'll bring it in. They are the only store carrying Small Boy's, Aurora Innovations, and a few other products. Why? Because they listen to their growers and because of it have now expanded to almost three times the size of a store and will be here still while the other hype shops are slowly being shut down... :dance013:

So far everything is great the plants love the stuff it smells like a dumpster full of rotting seaweed and fish.

I think the plants could be pushed harder but it's not starving them thats for sure

I was looking at the botanicare I used GH in my hydro setup with real good success

Its the rezdog receipe!! Use it too but not sure about the frenquency of the watering with nutes. I do 2 water with only water and 1 watering with nutes...but seem to be not enough!

the best has to go to: Pureblend Pro Bloom & grow. for over 20 years these nutes have produced nothing short of the dankest buds ever to cross peoples lips. check my sig for a look at some buds you get with Pureblend pro and tap water. ! :)
i have to lol at all the folks using 5-10 differant nutes and additives in the water program.
i use grow and bloom and have the best results..super resin, great smell and taste. i think most people go way over board with all the stuff they give the plants.

Holly crap that pile-o-resin looked f in amazing

I use complete commercial fertilizers from Jack's Classic - All-Purpose in veg and Bloom in flower. Easy, efficient, predictable and the results speak for themselves.

Since this is only my second grow and I am happily ignorant of all the different nutes, I use FFOF soil and blend it 50-50 with ordinary
potting soil (budget). Am using Schultz 10-15-10 with micronutrients. My plants are growing like weeds!! sorry, i could not resist. Things dont have to be complicated to grow. Am looking to try FF nutes with next grow. I use the schultz for both veg and flower

as i've said before on icmag ... i'm a dyna-gro fan. nutes they sell are very concentrated – 1 quart should make 380 to 750 gallons of fertilizer making it one of the cheapest urea free fertilizers. all nutes are complete fertilizers so no "additives" are necessary. all you need to grow good plants is their 7-9-5 grow and 3-12-6 bloom -- they also have a 9-3-6 foliage pro, 0-0-3 protek and a few other formulas that can be used but they are not necessary --- my experience with nutes is limited to... miracle grow (contains urea), old age grow, fox farm, and dyna-gro ... all of the brands will work when used properly but dyna-gro is very easy to use and so far it's my preferred brand. i grow in containers and the soil pH remains very stable. plants aren't monster producers but adding a high N fertilizer to the early veg stage (like fox farm's grow or dyna-gro's foliage pro) improves the yield. dyna-gro has a lot of good info about the formulas on their website

check out berry hill drip for crazy cheap prices on dyna-gro ... wish they sold foliage pro

I like Age Old Organics. Simple and inexpensive. I've used advanced (way over priced and over marketed), Roots Organic (way too sloppy, thick and messy), Earth Juice, and a number of others.

I keep various products in the stockroom, but my favorite staple nutrient line is Age Old Organics.

Oh, I like some of the Organicare line too.
