Generators create a lot of heat. If you have sufficient AC they are much more cost effective. Tanks work well where heat is a concern.

Large spaces I would recommend a burner, smaller spaces like a closest size i would recommend tanks.

1) Burners make heat, but they also make more CO2 per $. Propane can be bought just about anywhere and no one will ask any questions when getting one filled.
2) Tanks cost money and looks funnny when you bring them back every week to fill up. Even people with beer kegs in their house, they wouldn't use a full tank that quickly.

burner with a controller is the way to go. You pay for it with the install cost and A/C upgrades, however you make up for it as the costs are less to run even with the extra heat. Just as long as you plan on using an A/C to cool, once you are pumping air in and out and trying to maintain your 1500ppm the costs go through the roof.

They also make burners that can be air cooled like lights.. but your still going to need to cool that room.

Also, are the two interchangable? Like if I went with the tanks first can I use those regulators and controllers for the generator?

Is the generator loud? Is the heat in the c02 air or the generator itself??? if it's the air can I vent the hot air in one direction and vent the CO2 in another??

:cathug:

the hot air is the CO2

I am running my first room with co2.I am usimg a coolflame made by advanced nutrients.Watercooled heat exchanger gets rid of like 85 percent of the heat. It's the bees knees i gotta tell ya.Th epropane aspect is a bit of a bitch though and if u live in an apartment might be tough getting tanks in and out all the time. The generator was only 500 bucks but you gotta get a solenoid to turn the water on a nd off.But i got that and two 40 pound propane tanks full for around 900 bucks. And im lovin the results.

Controller will work with either tanks or generator..

Some controllers controll only CO2, some CO2 and fan timing.

Gen is not loud but generates heat.

What do you guys suggest? currently room gets 65 during the day and 83 at night with lights on in summer.

Rather use less electricity than more right now...

Go with the generator. Will be more cost effective over the long run.

i would like to get a burner myself and use cool tubes to get rid of the heat from the lights but does the cost verse yield increase mean a 20% in yield or more

I just started using a burner/controller like two weeks ago and I'm already seeing results. I got a green air burner and a CAP monitor/controller. I've been running the same strains for a while but not with co2 until now and I can definitely tell a big difference. I maintain 1625 ppm with the lights on at 85 degrees. I wish I could find a thread that discusses the finer points of gardening with co2 in detail.

co2 generators are not like power generators like you may be thinking of. They make no more noise than a BBQ grill. All they do is burn gas and make a flame

Propane is very common and is what people have delivered to their home or pick up from home depot, walmart etc.

Natural gas is usually piped in. You can get a NG version but you better make sure you have a source for NG.

okay cool. does it smell? will my apartment smell like propane or anything burning off? what about carbon monoxide??? will detectors go off?

No smell that I can remember. Co2 gennies operate a little different than a BBQ grill or hot water heater. They burn more of a blue flame that creates more Co2 (carbon dioxide) and I think burns cleaner.

There should be no carbon monoxide.
