SG's Hempy Grow Show - Satori, Double Bubble, PRxPK, Skunk #1

Hello

Sorry for the lack of updates ... been busy with work and sports. I chopped 2 ladies on Sunday. 1 skunk #1, nothing very impressive and 1 PR X PK #4 which was very nice. Only problem is that it looks like it was trying to herm the last couple of weeks there. Tons of banananas = no bueno. I will run her one more time and see if it was a light or heat stress that caused the problem. Otherwise I will just pop some new seeds and keep on truckin.

Some good news though ... I was lucky enough to become a tester for Karma Genetics for his new "Sour Jack". Amazingly the seeds were sent out late last week and I received them on Monday morning. Needless to say, they are in the paper towel being popped as we speak. They went in late last night and we already have 2 of 5 tails popped.

The Church @ 6 weeks. She's a beauty.
picture.php

picture.php

Satori @ 6 weeks. Big girl. Might be her last run though. I'd rather pop some new seeds for sometihng a little better perhaps.
picture.php

picture.php

PR X PK #5 @ 3 weeks. She loves to flower that's for sure.
picture.php

picture.php

Happy Chem @ 3 weeks. She was not ready for flower and was undervegged. It took a little longer for her to start flowering which is unfortunate.
picture.php

The new recruits. PR x PK #4 on the left. Q-Balls on the right.
picture.php

PR x PK #4 @ 0 days.
picture.php

Q-Balls. I wanted to show this girl to show that no one is perfect. Had some mean deficiencies ... anyone want to guess what it was? It has been fixed now. New growth is good to go but DAMN that is some gnarly leaf issues.
picture.php

picture.php

Last but not least, the new testers. Can't wait to see what these epic ladies can do!

Looks good bro.....

One thing i will say about the PK x PR.......It hates nutes on the high ppm end spectrum.....She will throw nanners sooooo easy if you fuck with her.....it becomes a real problem when running other strains that demand more nutes....

Personally i had to keep nutes for the purple plants alone.....I usually try to keep the ppm's under 900 despite you seeing i run typically 1000ppm formulas....Hope this helps.....Im not saying the cross isnt known to throw nanners....it has and probably will.....But i have had plenty of successful grows with the strain without nanners.....but sometimes they would throw nanners.....i usually chalk it up to some kinda mistake i made....like a power outage for 3 hours....or blasting the plants with high nutes or heat stress...it just doesnt make sense to me that the same cuts would not hermie for like 2 runs then i have a run where i think i did something wrong and i find nanners... have fun.....i have some haze testers if you want.....they arent showing any signs of the haze yet.....mostly what i the males have been dominate it this cross!

hey sg-I've got a few of those mexicans going right now, flipped two of them a couple of weeks ago and one is still vegging out. We took a ton of cuts from the one in veg and I'm planning on flipping her in a couple of weeks. Still fighting the heat fight, so I'm leary of doing anything with her. The two that got flipped are stretching out a little bit, and one turned hermie. After reading what you & killa got to say about how finicky they can be, she may have switched due to the heat or she may have switched due to a little too much nutrient. All good reasons for growing those cuts out and getting it dialed in. I put the hermie outside the other day and I don't know what else to do with her, she's a nice healthy looking plant and has got a ways to go.....any suggestions?

Interesting information. On this next run I'll keep the nutes lower on the purple girls and see what happens. I also worry about those things ... I try to control the heat, nutes and light stress, but sometimes shit just happens, so that's why she'll get another run or 2. It got pretty warm here for a while ... could have been that. We'll see.

Anyways, I'd love to hear about what you've got going with those haze testers so I'll PM you soon about it. I bet they are legit :D

Ya man, that heat is killin lots of us this year. Can't wait to get some cold temps ... I happen to love fall weather so I'm excited about that.

How bad a hermie is it ? Like full out balls and flowers?

If there are still lots of crystals on it and you have NO RISK of seeding any of your other indoor/outdoor crops in the area, I'd let her run her course and turn her into some bubble. I dunno, I've never had that option or the space outside for that ... so I can't actually vouch.

I feel like I read about a dude who was growing females and males outside because all of it was just used to make hash. I can't really remember.

goodluck with those sativas man, i'm sure you'll run them well.

For you all ... 5 for 5 on the Sour Jack ... :D

There were a few balls among the flowers, so they're outside to finish. There were way more flowers then balls and the flowers are going to be real nice. I don't think we have anything to worry about as far as pollinating the rest of the room....it's still kinda early for the pollen sacs to open up more. We'll see.
Good deal on the sour jack. Have you ever germed directly in perlite? We tried this method the last few times we've popped beans and I sure do like not having to move the plant until it's about 8" tall. Just curious....not trying to fix what's not broken, just wondering.

Good evening dubwise

Sound like you have that herm figured out, maybe you can get something out of it with the hash making.

I have attempted to attempt directly into perlite but I let it dry out too much and had a LOT of problems. I lost a lot of seeds with that method, so I just use RRs now. I've had a ridiculous success rate with them so that's what I'll do for now. Do you think not having to move them makes a difference?

Great things happening in the garden. I've got some beautiful girls in flower and 5 new Sour Jack seedlings up and growing strong :D.

I took some pictures. Enjoy.

Hey everyone

Things are going well. I went away for the weekend and everything looks great! The Sour Jack are growing strong ... I can't wait for them to get mature and show some sex :D

Might have made a mistake. Looks like I forgot a round of cloning PLUS I have apparently mislabeled them as well, so I can only tell what is what AFTER I put them in. Not a bad thing, since I love them all, but it's a bad thing in the way that I may miss keeping certain genetics. Good thing is that I positively have Happy Chem, The Church, Skunk #1 and one version of the PR x PK. This leaves me with a Q Balls (which I just pulled a clone 2 weeks from flowering ... woops) and a Satori missing.

Anyways, I took some pictures.

Enjoy!

New Sour Jack girls ... about 12 days in. They are growing strong :D

Hey man! Those babies look nice & strong. Keep 'em going.
I think that the less you have to fool with the plant, the less chance there is of something bad happening. I'm sure some folks move 'em around quite a bit and have no issue, but for me, the less I have to deal with something the better.
Great shots!

Thanks for the kind words dubwise! I agree with you about the less you bother them, the better they will do.

Good evening everyone

Things are going well here. About to make some changes to the grow room situation to make it a bit more stealth. I will show the results when they are complete.

Garden is looking good. There is a Church and a Satori @ 9 weeks but the Satori isn't quite done so I'll give them both another week. That will mess with my perpetual schedule but oh well.

Sour Jack girls look great, getting up to the 5th or 6th node already. All very homogenous so far so that's a positive thing.

Enjoy the pics. Peace, -sg

Hey man. Glad to see things are still good. We've still got some heat issues, but will be adding a new AC to the room next week! Our perpetual has slowed down for now, but there are tons of seeds to get going real soon. I miss being in the room, but there's not much going on. I think we may switch up and try our luck with a vertical setup, yet still perpetual and still with hempys. Keep it up buddy!

What's up buddy! Glad to hear you are getting the heat issues under control ... it's a good thing fall is around the corner. Finally we are getting some cooler weather around here.

What seeds will you be running? Anything fun? Good luck with that vertical hempy ... I will be very interested to see that.

See ya buddy!

Just a quick picture update. The Sour Jack were all topped today and the tops were used for clones. Once the clones start to root all the originals will go into flower. They are already pretty good sized :D. Looking for only the BEST keeper female here.

Also, I just got another pack of testers from Karma - Triple Kush (FireWhite#6 x SFV OG Kush), so be on the lookout for that tester thread starting up as well.

The Church and Satori came down at 10 weeks. I like the 10 week look ... I think everything will get 10 weeks from now on :D. Anyways, here are the pics.

Enjoy -sg

PR x PK #4 @ 4 weeks. She stretched on me bleh. I think she is the keeper anyways ... the other one is more of a messy freak. On the other hand, this one hermed on me at the very end of the last run. Maybe time to run some more seeds? Hehe.

Q-Balls @ 4 weeks. Very nail polish/fuel smell after a nice cure. Great smoke though.
picture.php

picture.php

Happy Chem @ 7 weeks. She stretched as well (not sure what happened, I think it was really hot that couple of weeks). Great girl though. Super primo smoke, that is why I am so excited about the Sour Jack and Triple Kush from Karma as well ..

PR x PK @ 7 weeks. Big lady. Very gnarly.

So, I have been doing a lot of reading about foliar trimming and the pros/cons of keeping all the fans versus not. I figured this run I'd get aggressive and see what happens. The Skunk #1 and Church got their first trimming tonight and will get another one next week (it's painsatking to trim all the fans). This is them a few days ago, right when they went into flower and before they were trimmed. Sk#1 on the right and Church on the left.

Now Skunk#1 after the first trimming

And The Church after the first trimming (getting all droopy on me, she's fine though)

I can't get over that PRxPK...man that is so nice. I'd love to get that going. We're gonna run the AI, Safari and some afghani this time around. Waiting to get paid on a job so we can get the new HVAC up and operational, and then...as they say....it'll be on like a pot of neck bones!

LOL man ... on like a pot of neck bones!? Gotta hang out with your type more often ... sounds like my type of crowd! :good:

Goodluck with that HVAC! Sounds like some legit strains this time around ...

I'll talk to you soon!

you might have a possibility dubwise......im gonna re-run the PK x PRf1, f2 and fems, and have a give away around christmas time.....

Also, ive been contacted by a member on this site for possibly releasing this cross for sale in his online store(cant tell you who).....we are still working out the details, but one concern of mine is keeping the price below $20(because of lack of testing) which hasnt been agreed on......so just be patient....i still have about 150 of each generation i kept back for future projects!

Good stuff Killa ... You are a very generous and dedicated man ... under $20 and those things will be done in 3 seconds. I'm glad you remember greed is quite possibly the root of all evil. That's what seems makes this lovely country go round and round unfortunately.

sweet Delia!
Killa, that would be awesome! I would love to get that going!

Soon enough my friend!! :D

Good evening everyone

I hope all are well. Just passing through with another picture update. I've put the Sour Jack into flower to establish sex, so that is a good thing. I also went to Home Depot and bought all the stuff I need to make this set up proper/full stealth.

I'm very stoned so forgive my lack of words :D.

Enjoy

-sg

Skunk#1 @ 1 week. She's going to be great!
picture.php

picture.php

The Church @ 1 week. Much perkier this week.
picture.php

Q-Balls @ 5 weeks. I've got some yellowing of the fans ... should have been paying better attention to her. My fault.
picture.php

picture.php

PR x PK #4 @ 5 weeks. Same thing to her ... didn't give her anough attention. She is still doing well. Still seems to be fatter at 5 weeks than the girl at 8 weeks.

picture.php

Happy Chem @ 8 weeks. Very frosty, I am very excited about these last two weeks.
picture.php

picture.php

PR x PK #5 @ 8 weeks. Super purple. Probably the last run for this pheno though.
picture.php

And a few of the Sour Jack babies ... remember these were all topped and are only to be sexed ... then the clones will get the full veg/bucket size treatment.

Your plants are beautiful sg.. still in 1.5g's and fox farm nutes?

I'm going go be trying my hand at indoors, but I still can't make up my mind on what nutes to use for hempy. Is there any general consensus on what feeding schedule to use?

Also, is there a correlation between light size (600's vs 1000) & feeding schedules/RH, etc. I can't decide if a 1000 would be better than a couple 600's, or if it would dry the hempy's out quicker? Help? anyone?

stoNerd, welcome! I am also a nerd ... and a stoner ... if that is what your name is supposed to mean :D

Buckets are a little over a gallon ... 1.2 gallons. Although, i was at the Home DePot the other day and I saw 2 gallon buckets with a similar footprint so I may end up upgrading. Still going with Fox Farm nutes mostly because I know them well enough at this point and don't feel like dealing with changing a nute line.

I use a personalized FF nute regiment, but I know other use Advanced Nutrients as well as many others. I think as long as you stick to a HYDRO regiment, you will be just fine.

I can't vouch for 600s vs 1000s, but I imagine you evaporation rate will be increased by temperatures, not really amount of light. If you can run 1000s at the same temp as 600s, then it shouldn't really matter.

Shoot me a link if you get a grow going ... I'd love to see what you decide on.

Peace!
sg
