I am interpreting this as you saying you're going to transplant 3 times, is that correct? Transplanting is usually stressful to the plant to some degree, and is best avoided if at all possible. I suggest starting in the pot you plan on finishing in, one gallon for every month the plant is alive is a good rule of thumb.

Transplanting is only stressful if you haven't got the skills. When I transplant, I can move the plant directly back under the light with no shock at all. Multiple transplanting schedules make plants grow faster than anything. I've never seen a hydro setup match multiple repots in containers for sheer speed of vegging growth. Best size container to start seedlings in is those six celled 'pony packs' like you get tomato's in at the nursury, they probably are about 4-6oz each cell. Next choice would be half filled 9oz Solo cups. Half filled first, then pot up to full, then to 20oz Solo, then 1G and so on. When you put a small plant directly into a large pot, it's too hard to meet the watering needs accurately and the plants roots are too far from any Oxygen source. Small pots provide MUCH more air to the roots so plants grow faster. Cannabis can tolerate being in a big pot, but it grows much faster with a proper size one.

I do it all.........Ideally ending up with a 3 to 10 gallon pots for flower.
Hybrid vigor up top means hybrid vigor in the root zone as well in most strains.

Your style of growing has alot to do with your pot size i think......

Different growing methods and your choice in how you feed is a key factor with choosin pot sizes i would think

is that the 4x4 tent ?? 2x400w hps. ?? w 9 plants you should yield really well in 5 gal pails. i dont think those strains are too stretchy ?? so no need to restrict pot size like some sativas i fcuk with !!

how do you arrange 2 400w in ur tent ?? all the best to you and the grow !!

alright whodair yes its a 4x4 tent.& am using adjusta wing reflectors

I am growing in a 30"x30" chamber, with a 250 hps, 9 plants. I use beer cups to start seeds and rooted clones in, transfer to 2 gallon buckets after roots are able to hold the soil together in the beer cups. Once they are ready for flowering, I transfer to 3 gallon buckets. Works great so far.

i got a question. im going to do a perpetual sog for the next couple runs, would rather harvest a little bit at a time, and was thinking about using either 2 or 3 gallon pots. im flowering under 2 600 watters, vegging under T5s. any help would be great.

Forgive me if I am out of line here, but I have done 2 400 watt lights in a 4x4x8 tent. With wings, and AC hoods. You say the temps are good. How's that? You live in the arctic circle or something? So..I am just saying, you may want to look at some other stuff, no doubt potting strategy is important, but not relevant if you are out of range on temps..
Again, I know you said they are "good" but it's just hard to believe that being that I have been there done that, and I know how warm those lights can make a tent that size, so just throwing that in case you are looking past it, thought maybe it sounded like you were..or
Maybe I am a fuck-tard, and you are perfectly fine and I am talking out my ass, but really, just wondering about your temps w/ that set up..:)

too little soil can hurt you but too much cant.. 3 gallon pots maxed out = like 4-5 (maybe 6) oz's i bet..

for good measure, i pull 1oz 1ft plants in 1 gallon pots

also i have gotten 2 oz's per 2.5 gallon pot, but i bet i can pull like 3-4 ozs per 2.5

Excellent answer
PLUS marijuana grows big and fast and likes to spread its roots to know it has room to grow
Planting in pots too big (at first) can also make watering and adding nutes difficult to determine proper amounts
The right sized container makes this possible
Proper transplanting does not hurt the plant in the least:tiphat:

Sorry if I pissed in your cheerio's "pal". I really was wondering how that worked, especially since in another thread you stated that temps are 86 at night????? Which is weird since that is hotter than your day temps w/ the lights on???
But that's ok, I didn't say you were "giving false info", I just asked for clarification, since up to that point you hadn't mentioned it, and I had used a similar setup, it made me wonder about it, that's all. I wasn't bashing you, simply asking so just in case it was an issue, I didn't say you were it was nor did I say you were lying about anything. I am happy for you, sounds like you are at about 80 while running your lights, good for you man. You are luckier than me. Without AC hoods and I couldn't get mine under 85. With the AC hoods, I got to 78, consistently. I really was just trying to be helpful, sorry you took offense to it apparently. But really, hows your temps go up to 86 at night w/ no lights? (As you said in a previous post on another thread w/ regard to humidity?)

hi everyone i am needing help with my growroom humidty i have a dark room 120 & i am running 2 x 400watt with adjustawings during the day it is 26c & 60% humidty and at night its 86-95% humidty
i have a 6ins extracting through the carbon and i am also using a 5ins intlet as an extractor too to try and remove heat..i have passive intakes at bottom of tent..i am thinking of changing the 5ins to vent air from another room..any help would be excellent..although the hygromiter says 95% humidty there is no water on tenet walls...i forgot to say i am running an ebb & flood table with 11 plant which
are 3 feet and 2 weeks into flower atb shogun....

I guess I don't understand, but whatever, good luck "pal". Hope you get it figured out.

here m8 go read the thread again i said humidty was 86% at its highest nothing to do with temps sorry pal but you come across as if you no about my grows i am not pissed dude its the way you ask things...see at the end of the day i dont even need to talk to you i have posted the same questions on a lot of forums and the only thing that i am having problems with is humidty...i am off to check my other thread....shogun
