I've worked with a few kids in my day. And waaaay back when, when I was young and learnin,, some nice lady learned me that paddleing a child is not a bad thing. Her rule was a firm cupped hand across the butt cheeks once for the infraction - after that, it's revenge for the parent/caretaker - so I always limit myself to no more than 3. (but. punn intended,, that first pop is the one that gets their attention)

Sometimes there is a need to expand the level of communication, if only to instill incentive for young ones to have to oppertunity to see where that road goes and hope they decide the cost isn't worth the trip - so to speak.

They have to learn NO someday - and some learn "the hard way"

Every kid is different, every situation unique. But after a morning at the grocery store filled with screaming brats - damn few kids there understand no. Their parents DESERVE the crap - but it's the rest of the world that has to put up with it.

The fucked up thing is that we expect kids to take shit that we as adults don't take. If I spill my beer nobody is going to smack me across the face unless I spilled it looking down their wives top.

Somehow I've managed to raise kids that do what they are told with physical discipline, they still think I'm scary though, lol.
