How far should a 1000w bulb be from flowering clones?

I'm making a new vert hydro system and I got a new 1000w dimmable ballast to use for this grow.

My plan is to make 5 triangles of plywood and attach 4" pvc pipe, either round or fence post, to the pipe in a manner in which I can fit the most clones per triangle. I will then have a manifold pump nutes to the top of each tube which runs to the bottom with gravity and gets recycled to the res. There will be 2 to 3 res's.

I'm debating on how bit to make each triangles dimensions to put the clones the ideal distance away from the bulb.

Anyone got any numbers for me?

id just recomend u buy a thermometer and find out how close 82 degrees is to the bulb, or something close to it. all lamps, bulbs, and rooms etc etc have a differant heat signature.

That post didnt help me, it doesnt mention what you said it does.

I don't think you can use 82 degree's as a distance either.

Does anyone else have any input? About how close should I put a 1000w bulb to clones that I only veg for a day or so? Its a 1000w dimmable ballast so I can ease them into it, but still need to know final distance for flowering. I'm building a grow thats never been done before!

Yeah 4 feet is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far.

I was thinking something around 20 inches, not too sure yet.

This is sorta what my setup will look like, a ring of mini dwc tubes each with a flowering clone in it around a central hanging 1000w in a cooltube. I plan to make 4 sections which fit next to eachother to form a square. And the tubes will be in a perfect circle around the bulb. The brightest part of the bulb eye level with the clones.
