process should work...

process should work...

similar to tissue culture.... the cells just have to differentiate & re-form into the needed config (roots)... just tyme & non-harsh conditions.... especially w/ an existing terminal flower for meristem to continue growing from...

should be easier than a side-veneer or whip & tongue gr@ft, in which cambium layers bond together in donor/host merger...

the link also provides tech for attaching existing healthy root, from another pl@nt, to a new scion.... which may also work w/ the leaflet.... so, maybe can attach little root of similar diameter as petiole base to wedge cut in base @ cambium layer. if same genetics, scion-leaflet should not reject, but try to heal root into base...

key is exposure of actively growing cambium layer, whic permit water to travel thru vascular system of plant... cambium layer is also part that must bond during gr@ft...

I'd love to see this work cause if i does i'll be tryin it. As i have a blue cheese female that is doing the same its from Barney's farm, great tasty ass smoke.

IT'S JUST ABOUT DONE

IT'S JUST ABOUT DONE

I'm not to sure about this leaf cloning thing, the normal way works quite well, but I will keep it going just for a bit of fun.

In the mean time the SOG continues and will come down next Wednesday or Thursday, my days off. The plants are starting to flop over with the weight. 1000W is definitely an improvement but will perform better, I think, on the next run. 36 clones at 4 per sq/ft single cola style, 3x3 table.

Another clone was culled today so that leaves me with 48 now under 430 HPS, 18/6 and have just fed them veg nutes at .6 EC. They are strong and will not come out of the sphagnum moss when pulled. In 4 days they will be busting to come out then straight on to 12/12 bloom nutes in the 3x3 ebb/flow tray.

The true SOG run under 1000W will commence in 4-5 days.

MAKE THE MOST OF IT LADIES COS THE DRYING RACK AWAITS

The moment I hate is about to arrive, the harvest, trimming, cleaning out the hydroton, res change, picking the best clones and starting again.

But I'm happy with the clones, this should be perfect timing. Now the mums need another trim already, more clones, should be able to get about 100 cuts out of them now. These mums are destined for the great outdoors in late September, early October. They have been cloned so much and will turn into some interesting outdoor bushes. Time to get some new mums going I think.

In 8 years of cloning this plant there has been no change in it's characteristics. Potency remains the same, not one hermie ever no matter how much abuse you give it, clones easily, flowers at a hint of 12/12 and can be harvested in 42 days. It is the best SOG plant I have seen, true SOG that is, single cola style.

I might just take the next run to 8 weeks. Because I've had it for 8 years.

Flawless Victory

Nice dragon. Flawless, I don't think so, there are faults in every grow. I didn't want to veg and top or FIM for 7 days but had to due to clone shortage. It works OK though. I think the best thing about this grow was more WATTS, 1000 of them. 600's are good but 1000 in my space seems better. I'm lucky not to have heat issues with a non air cooled lamp. Summer may be a different story and back to 600W. The 1000's pack a real punch.

I will keep this thread going with a true SOG, 36 clones at 4 per sq/ft single cola style under 1000W. I've got the clones. This will be the grow I have always wanted to do, maybe I should get get a 4x4 tray one day. What, more clones, nope, 36 clones are enough of a mission!

WAKE AND BAKE PART 3

WAKE AND BAKE PART 3

Well I got home from work today and 1/2 the plants were flopping over the side of the tray. They were getting top heavy. That 1 week of veg time might have just got them a bit to big. So I thought, fuck it. I chopped. The trichomes are starting to amber up and I was keen to get the new grow going.

So this is the story of the end of one little adventure with an interesting discovery along the way during the transition to the next run.

Sorry about all the pics but they tell the story.

GOT A LITTLE BIT OF TRIMMING TO DO, THAT CAN WAIT

TIME FOR A TRUE SOG, 4 PER SQ/FT, 3X3 TABLE, 36 PLANT TOTAL, STRAIGHT ON TO 12/12, LET'S GET THE CLONES OUT

picture.php

To get the clones out of the sphagnum moss cloning medium I use a satay stick. Gently grab the top of the clone, poke the pointy end into the root area and lever it out.

THE INTERESTING DISCOVERY DURING THE TRANSITION

picture.php

These are some of the healthiest clones I have produced in a long time. I've tried rockwool, bubblers, aeroponics, Jiffy pellets or rapid rooters, coco/perlite. These clones have the best roots I have seen in 14 days with straight SPHAGNUM MOSS as the medium. I think I might just stick to sphagnum moss for a while. I did nothing different to the clone method from normal except use SPHAGNUM MOSS.

SO LET'S PUT THE POOR LITTLE THINGS IN, NEARLY THERE

DONE, 36 CLONES, 3X3 TRAY, 4 PER SQ/FT, 1000W HPS

EC 1.5, bloom nutes
PH 5.8 straight out of the tap
12/12 immediately
Res aerated and heated to 24C or 75F

awesome stuff mate, hope you got a nice yield out of that grow and that this one goes nicely as i'm sure it will :D think i might have to give the spagnum moss a go in the future. do you think peat moss would do well too?

I am sure peat moss would also work, it's cheaper than sphagnum moss too.

yeah i think i might give peat a go, i haven't seen sphagnum stuff at the local hardware store i mostly go to, though maybe i just didn't notice it. i'll suss it out :D using jiffy pellets and clonex recently and so far have had 9/16 root within 3 weeks, 4 were 1 week younger than the others and i'm hoping they root too this week (3 or the 4 are perky and healthy) which would get me to 13/16, but yeah i hope to eventually get 100% success rate or close too :D i'm sure using your techniques will get me there so thanks high country!

If you can get to a Bunnings store they have sphagnum moss, they have everything including the kitchen sink and on weekends a BBQ out the front! DIY hydro is easy at Bunnings too. I live in the sticks and my local store had the sphagnum moss. I live near a place where it grows in the wild, might try that one day. If that's not organic I don't know what is. Good luck with the clones. I don't normally count on 100% success and cut way more than I need. I got 92% first go with sphagnum moss and am happy with that.

sweet thanks mate, yeah for me between 90-100% for any runs would be nice :D thanks again for all the info there's a bunnings near by i'll have to suss out :D

Looks great man! I'm gonna have to try a SOG soon, just need to get off my lazy ass.

Few questions if you don't mind:
Why 3'x3' and not 4'x4'? Space related or do you find they grow better?
Do you just fill the whole tray with Hydroton? I've seen setups with 6" netpots...thoughts?

I did a hydro run with and Ebb&Grow system last run. Was my first try at hydro and I screwed it up royally. Got about a pound under 2k so at least I got smoke till I get it right. Organic soil is kickin ass for me now, but I really wanna give a tray/SOG a try. Keep up the good work!

I have used a 600W HPS over the 3x3 in the past which is just about right for that size table. The lamp faded over time and instead of buying another 600W lamp I thought, fuck it, and went up to 1000W. This would be OK for a 4x4 table but then I would need 64 clones to do a 4 per sq/ft style SOG. Producing 36 clones is enough of a mission let alone 64. One day I might get a 4x4. I like the 1000W lamp for the light penetration.

Yes I do fill the whole tray with hydroton. I have used net pots in the past and that works fine. I just decided to put the clones and whatever medium they were cloned in straight into the hydroton and that works just as well.

I like single cola style SOG'S with no veg time, quick turn around, good yield. Hope to get at least 1 gram per watt with this lot. Give the SOG a go. Just need healthy mums and a reliable cloning method. Let me know if you get one going. Good luck.

Awesome, thanks for taking time to answer. 64 plants....mmmm....sounds like it would be one hell of a harvest!

One more ?...when you ran that 600w over a 3x3, how'd they yeild? You hit 1g/watt? I like the idea of running a 600w...my last power bill was painful...

550g, not quite 1g/watt. I've read of some SOG growers who get close to 2 g/watt, 2 kg for 1000W would be very impressive.

CLONE MACHINES

CLONE MACHINES

Well the mums needed another trim today so not being one to waste material, let's get cloning. These little mums are turning into clone machines. Took 62 cuts, probably could have got 80 but I couldn't be bothered.

62 CLONES INTO THE SPHAGNUM MOSS AND 2 BEERS LATER

Now the mums have had a good trim I'll give them a big feed of Seasol seaweed extract then back under the 430W Son T Agro to produce another load of little clones.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with these new clones though, I'll think of something.

hehehe wooo bring on the spagnum moss high country :D let me ask do you end up transplanting the clones with spagnum moss around them, or is most of it removed as you pull the clone out and then just put it in soil?

and boy have i fallen in love with that seasol!! it is flipping awesome :D i've a great mix going at the moment

15L reptile tank water (300ppm when taken from the 100L tank) lots of N
pH'ed to 6.5-6.6
2 caps of seasol
1-2 drops of superthrive
2 tbsps of black strap molasses (just added today for the flowering girl) (no lizard water in this one because of high N levels)

dunno if the black strap will make a diff or not but thought i'd give it a go! :D
