Ebb and Flow versus DWC yield

When I started go hydro I chose Ebb and flow, because it was easy and had good results. Now after awhile, its obvious that DWC is yielding more, but I have gotten fond of my set up,so I stay with it,but in my mind there are no doubt that DWC yields more than almost everything else.

Have you run DWC?

If not, then it probably isnt fair to say it yields more. I am sure you are saying that compared to other grows you see but so many factors come into play besides the system

No maybe not if you have a great regimen of SOG or whatever in another kind of hydro.:)
It was mostly meant as a side by side with 2 systems, one DWC and one ebb and flow(newbies).
But it can get close sometimes with my own set up.
I just marvel sometimes when I see the yield from one bucket and one plant.

Yes I have tried, but I have pretty hard water,so I stayed with my ebb and flo set up.If I had a RO unit,I would probably start doing it.I think its a great way to get max yield from one plant.

so based on this ideal having no reflector and vertical is this method more effective or ideal say against (4) 1k hps?

im gonna do aeroponics with the aerojet 4 tray sytem and some other minor grows for hydro.

but im trying to figure out what works best for a 7x5x8 sealed (preferablely? due to ac)

and what growing method.i'd appreciate regardless if no grow experience or etc im up for any challenge

i would at least 100 w per square feet
..9*6oo=54oo w@ts...
what about from 90 to 4?

replace 8x4 tables w/ 6oo's on ends & 1 pl@ntee in middle. hung vertically, bare bulb...

0 = lyght
X = pl@nt

0 X 0
0 X 0
0 X 0
0 X 0

or...

0 0 0
.X X

0 0 0
.X X
0 0 0

= 4 pl@nts using 4.8k... or w/ 5.4k...

check the hydro showdown link in my sig; they yield about the same.... with the e&f trays you can really cut the veg time down.... with rdwc you'll need a longer veg time while the plants get their sea legs

also with rdwc you grow trees and lumen penetration matters; so with 600s you probably get a better canopy on a tray than you would with them over buckets

yield is more dependent on lumens and environment than the system

also i've dialed in drip systems on trays before that i could leave as long as i could leave my rdwc systems for; all you need is a float valve

only downside with trays is the loss of vertical height; with the 600s its not as big of an issue

what about 2 gal buckets on your ebb and flow table drip fed. i do ebb and flow 4x8s and was thinking about trying this. dont think it would be that much to change setup. just wonderin. good luck either way.

I guess it comes down to how skilled the guy is that run the set up,no matter what it is.If done properly,in theory all hydro should yield almost the same. But I know Aeroponics(real aeroponics) cut the veg time down because the plants grow so fast. But I have never seen a real aeroponic set up,so I guess its what I THINK. I admit I am very pleased with my ebb and flo set up.It gives plenty to me.Also speed in veg..
Thanks.

one thing is for sure, less plants. equal less time. So if you can get the same yield with less plants, its definitely something to think about. Good karma either way bro

I think he was referring to actual labor dude,I'd much rather tend to 25-35 rdwc trees rather than 300+ lolly pops.

With the horizontal 600s I would stick to E&F. The difference in yield / time isn't all that much different. I've pulled 2lbs/1000w with E&F on many occassions.
