Is Organic Cheaper

Just to clarify, it seems like the OP is asking whether one organic method is cheaper than another organic method, is that correct?

Or are you asking if Organic is cheaper than non-organic methods in general?

I'd like to know before I give an off-topic answer :D

A powerful blend of composted forest humus and selected peat mosses, Pacific Northwest sea-going fish, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, bat guano, and micronutrients. Ocean Forest Potting Soil is nature's finest soil amendment. It is ideal forgreenhouse applications, as well as indoor/outdoor plantings.

Looking at the above and the LC #2, thats where i get confused...do i have to mix, it looks like everything is already in there...thats before added nutes...do i just get this and go?

If you really can't mix any soil I'd go find a good local potting mix, instead of FF.

Well, im just basically tryn to figure out a shopping list...Getn confused b/c Im not a gardner(want to learn)...I keep hearing all this and that, and am still confused...even readin the LC's, 6 parts this, 2parts that, etc. im pretty sure i can figure out how mix once i get all the shit, but i still dont know how much and what to go get...if it helps, im gonna grow 6... thats the legal limit for mature plants here in Oregon...but i still need to find someone to get them from...

Don't let the parts confuse you since a part can be a pot, a bucket, or a cup depending on how much you want to make.

Your legal limit is six there too? Where they come up with that number who the hell knows..

Start with a 2 cu. ft. bale of peat, and build everything off of that. That should be more than enough substrate as long as you're not vegging for months (actually, you might be able to split it with someone).

startin to make sense...basically all i need to get is peat, perlite, wormcastings, and powdered dolomite lime... That'll be good to start clones, correct? then i can add some organic nutes to the mix... also, do i have to let the soilless mix set up for x amotunt of time before putting a clone in there...

Only soil?

Because a bottle of FloraNova Bloom only costs $14.95 at my local shop, and will last multiple grows ;)

Yep, that's a good basic mix of ingredients. I like to mix stuff like blood/bone/alfalfa/kelp meals directly into my soil and then water with weak teas here. Things like bone meal take months to become fully available, so "cooking" your soil for 2-4 weeks is always a good idea.

Well, with a bit of up front money, those recipes (LC#2 & Nute mix #1) will pay off in the end.

And it makes it easy to grow. And fun. Just don't love the plants too much.

A direct answer to your question is "Yes, growing organic will be MUCH cheaper then bottled nutes". If not in the short run, certainly by the second grow when you recycle your soil.

But, You're going to have to read and follow directions.... exactly. At least the first time.

Organic is flat out badass. With that little extra work, stuff can end up pretty amazing. and for a decent price. I spent about $18 on soil amendment/fertilizer. Plus I get down on the compost tea.

I like the LC#2 mix...Ive been lookin at #1 &#2,Could I use Black Gold mix instead of Fox Farm for the 6 part? Dude I met sed "just get black gold." And I found it at a local store and havent got any yet.

LC's Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up) / Fox Farm Ocean Forest or Light Warrior
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.

Just to piss off the organics folks, I'd like to start shit.

For less than any organic nute regimen, I can train you :D

Can you beat 0-3$? If you buy a bottle of something you've already passed the golden standard for a cheap organic grow...$0 (homemade compost)

Compost / fertilizer tea is amazing and can be made with everyday house hold items, when combined can works wonders with your girls...

I feel organics depending on how its done can be way cheaper then other methods..

Earth Juice is a wonderful product that reacts very well with marijuana.

organic is cheaper bc you can recycle your soil.

the initial investment can be large, but over time it gets cheaper to maintain your soil if you recylce, and will only get sweeter....

Here's what I do;

1 Part Peat
1 part Coco
1 Part EWC
1 Part Pumice or Perlite

i've found that a 50/50 mix of coco and peat is more ph balanced

keep ammendments simple and just use LC1 style at first, everyone tweaks it from there anyways.

Today I got some stuff... I got some stuff that is comparable to Black Gold...The old man runnin the place said it was better then the B/G it holded whe water better and the ph is already adjusted... I also got perlite, EWC, and powdered lime...

My question is, do i have to let this stuff cook for a couple weeks, or could i mix and go... will it be ok to put clones straight in it, or should i use some w/out mixing till they have a good root system? Also when I mix, I wanna keep it moist right? I got some rubbermaids to keep it in...

Good start!

You can do 1 part EWC, 1 part perlite, and 1 part black gold for the clones. Cooking that for a couple weeks can't hurt, but it's probably fine as is since cooking is mostly to help get other ammendments ready (bone, blood etc.). It should be slightly moist, but the important thing is to keep it aerated by turning it over sometimes. Clones and seedlings like EWC a lot:canabis:
