The growing large plants, outdoors, thread...

Sir D,

Patash is needed for flowering but it will not induce it. P is what you really want to go up. Actually it is best if P and K go up during flower, but the plant is wanting alot of P in bloom to help create nice nugs. Also you want to drop the N levels as you get further into flower.

O3 Kush? Is that an OG Kush cross?

They claim it's a three way cross between OG Kush, Huckleberry and Salmon Creek. I can't find anything else about it online. I'll post a smoke report when it's done.

straintester, most of the big boys in here are all pulling at least 5, many 5-10 and some as much as 12+, especially this year.. From what I've read through this thread over the last few months these guys are outdoing their previous years every year.. Pretty amazing and jaw dropping stuff.

BB
WOW! That is something to be proud of.
Although I am not close to being in the same league as these guys I can appreciate the idea of challenging yourself each and every year.

Jaw dropping stuff is oh so true. This thread is better than looking through any high times magazine.
I've been to many forums over the last few years and most of them have group outdoor grows but i have never seen anything like this one.
Yes most impressive.
Thanks for the answer.:thank you:
I've never actually weighed any of my large plants but I can guess I have gotten just over a pound. which is small fry compared to these grows.

I'll be making washing machine bubble this year (hand bubble last year) and donating it to the free disbursement program at Good Karma and hopefully some other spots where true generosity and compassion are practiced.
That is such a thoughtful thing to do and it is comforting to know that there are compassionate growers like you.
AND you answered this even while going through serious plant problems.
I can't imagine the thought of possibly losing a plant of this magnitude, this far in the game, so my heart goes out to you and I hope it isn't too bad.
I'd probably cry:cry:

Ahhh. A three way cross hence the name O3 kush.
Its sure sounds interesting and i'd love to read a smoke report.
Blue dream seems to be a popular one lately as i am currently finding out.
Discovering new strains is always exciting.

I have 3 distinct Blue Dream cuts and have seen a fourth. Cannot say which is "authentic" but they are all different fosho. The one that Tom and Humboldtlocal have been posting up pics of is the only one I call simply "Blue Dream"... it is the most vigorous, heavy yielding, heat-, cold- and pest-resistant by far. Its not the fastest to finish, but with its other properties, that doesn't matter much for me. This is the cut that you worry might turn around and EAT all the other plants in the garden.

I am probably going to dump the other variants, including the one I call Clueberry after this season, though I might keep only her around or a breeding project. She finishes 7-10 days before the cut i work with the most and that is really the only desirable trait that any of the other cuts have over that one.

I would love to have the DNA of all my BD's tested and see what the deal is... I have now run all my different variants (except one that came from another ICMager later in the season) from clone in different mediums from aero to oasis cubes and rock wool to straight into dirt and even cut clones from those clones and there are obvious differences between the different BD variants, but the finished products are so similar that I still wonder if they are truly different cuts or if they were all once the same thing, but mutated thru environmental and generational factors.

Just insane the shit you see in this thread, just out there living the dream!

I hope that one day, I too will be able to cultivate the monsters!!

Thanks, TG, and nomaad. I thought I recalled people mentioning the cut by different people's names so it sounds like there isn't just one you can swing out and buy and be guaranteed to have 'the balls' cut but wasn't sure if it was all the same cut and just named by each person who had it (e.g. 'Tom Hill's cut') or done so because there were variances in cuts as you mentioned.. Thanks for the heads up..

blue dream, hahah yeah i had her about three or 4 years ago, same as it is today, imo there is only one real deal blue dream, the rest are just bbxhaze imo,

anyyyway off the BD train i go b/c that boat is overloaded.

in another topic might i recommend organic seabird guano pellatized 12-12-6 for transition weeks, also has 6 percent cal, easy to apply, visual results after two waterings. organic :)

Thanks for the info on the Blue Dream strain.
It sounds like a strain that is worth looking into.
Is it that other breeders have tried to duplicate this particular strain OR do you think perhaps it is because there are more than a few different phenotypes of the same strain?

definitely worth looking into. buddy has a BD cut he personally transported from Oakland back to the EC. it rules indoors, and finishes just in time outdoor (around Oct 15th at 42* north). no mold, little-to-no insect problem. great smoke.

this was all in a not-so-great grow climate, the northeast.

prolific indoor strain as well. he'll never let her go!

Big Garden Update July 22, 2010

Big Garden Update July 22, 2010

All the trees are climbing and enjoying the heavy top dressing of bird and bat guano. Hit them with a foliar of Calcium 25 this evening. Blue Dream (authentic as it gets) Boulevard, Mental Floss, and Deep Chunck x Bubba Kush x Who's Your Daddy are passing the 7' mark and are stretching 7' to 8' plus wide. Feeling grateful and blessed. Looking forward to the 1/3 "Larger Corn" claim by Calcium 25! Big up the FARMS - Shower them with BLESSINGS and HAPPY Gardening!
Here's a couple of pics... One of the Mental Floss & One of the Blue Dreams.

Creek Garden July 2010

Creek Garden July 2010

Here's a couple of pics of the "Creek Garden"... Foliared with Calcium 25 yesterday evening, watered in some K-mag this morning, and sprayed them down with a little Spinosad at dusk. The single tree pic. is Blubonic and the later shot captured Time Bomb, Legends Ultimate Indica, Green Crack High End, Blue Dragon, and Alien Kush in the distance. Big Top Dressing coming up at the "BIG FARM" on the top of the week... laying down approx. 200 oz (Six 32oz yogurt containers) of Bat guano and the same dose with the pellet 12-12-? Bird guano - Watering it in and covering it with digested cow manure. The feeding roots loved the manure last season; they wove themselves right up and in there for their tea and H2o feedings. Giving thanks and sending blessings to all the green thumbs out there. Happy Farming!
