More than likely just the right people need to see it and you'll/we'll get an answer.

I actually looked at your thread before I posted mine just to make sure it wasn't too similar, but I'm unable to load pics on my computer at the moment so I didn't get to see your setup. I'm sure you'll get a response soon.

I'm going to assume the second option is best and run with that I think. If that's a mistake somebody please chime in and let me know. thanks

from what I remember reading I would agree with you. my only problem with this is then not being able to run everything in one line in terms of ventilation. they design these hoods to be ventilated inline and then do not design them to throw light optimally when put in line. if it were me i would hang them so their openings were inline and vent with one inline fan running everything straight through. having ducting curving around in the space is no good for the heat produced because you will lessen the effectiveness of the fan. should be fine either way really, but remember KISS.
peace and smoke.

are you ising the old school SS2 w the 4" add on flange, or the newer 6" built in?
the old school style you can run the ventalation "straight" positioned [l-l] (option 2) no problem...

See R3zin's thread for most "efficient" lamp position.

I considered merging the threads but, this one is as, if not more, concerned with ducting, curves, fans etc.

If talking pure lamp efficiency, Ex 2 is the better way but, because the SSII vents out the ends rather than the sides, doing so could be a airflow nightmare. If stealth is of NO concern and you have the fan to pull it off, stick with Ex2. If stealth is a consideration or you just don't have the fan power, stick to Ex1. Many growers hang lamps parallel to the long end with great success.

New SS2's with 6" ducts.

Trying to fit both these hoods, the scrubber and the fan in the tent all while keeping decent airflow in the ducting is turning out to be a more daunting task than I had originally anticipated. If I could keep the fan outside the tent like originally intended it would be much more doable, but these hoods aren't even close to being sealed so I need to blow through them.

this is how I run my lights, is it the best way for the light to be thrown, no, but it seems to get the job done. It is more efficient for my fans though and heat can be a bitch. I could hang them the other way and throw the light optimally, but curving the ducting around would be counterproductive to me because the ligths would be further away from the plants then. na mean? Listen to tha freezerboy he knows his shit too and seems more familiar with the hood you speak of.
nothing but love though, hope I am helping in some way. peace and smoke friends.

Why would [||] be better than [--]?
Aren't you lighting two 4'x4' area?
What am I not understanding here?
[--] would definitely be easier to cool, and heat is a bitch and it lower yield.

The other thread FB is talking about, I posted the question of ventilation with the hoods side/side, like your ex2.
I have the same SS2 hoods as you.
Can anybody throw up a pic of the hoods mounted side/side and vented?

See R3zin's thread

I admit, I'm not a tent guy but, don't you move around in there? Doesn't that chew up some floor space? Regardless, a horizontal lamps useful reflected footprint is more rectangular than square.

If the garden is shaped as the space between the parenthesis, then [ll] covers the grow at a lower height. [--] needs to be hung higher to reach the ends of the grow, depriving plants of valuable light while wastefully illuminating the walls of the tent.
