Had my BB start throwing more bananas. I spotted a half dozen or so, and decided to pull her...
Safety first.
She wasn't filling in and now, this lets more of the other plants into the canopy. She will satisfy my urge to sample until the other plants are properly finished. Not to mention she won't pollinate the rest of the girls and give me a bunch of immature seeds... The largest buds will be taken for smoking... Everything else goes to the screen for some dry sift....
The ugly BB girl...
No worries though... The canopy is still dense and full....
With that BB drying and the girls getting older now at DAY 45, I needed to step up my odor control.
I was running a small (too small for my setup) carbon filter through a stanley blower fan mod. It just became overpowered this last week or two... too stinky...
I did some reading and came across the vaportek optimum 4000...
The model looks like this, and I'm using the neutral cartridge... Thanks to a guest user from the thread above, I've got this pic
I have it set on 1.2 and sit it right outside the grow room. When right next to the unit, you can get a faint bubble gum smell. The rest of the house is completely smell free. It took 5 minutes to work and have the smells removed entirely... It doesn't even just mask the odors, they are gone. I've left the house and come back quite a few times testing this It even takes care of animal odors as we have more than a few pets in the house...
It will result in a $50/ grow investment with replacement cartridges, but it makes no noise, and is cheaper than a new large fan/filter combo to handle my room. Used in junction with my filter now, it's the perfect odor setup!
Unfortunately, I've had to deal with a flooded grow room, a flooded basement, insurance adjusters, and all sorts of issues. Needless to say, it wasn't safe to continue these all the way until they were finished. A nasty storm hit at night, and power was lost. No, sump-pump means there were 4-5" of standing water when I awoke at 6:30 in the morning.
So they hit the chop on day 48 and are drying now. A little premature, but there is some serious bud-age to deal with. Hot drying temps and transports, and all sorts of issues are going down now. I'll be back to update the thread in a few days with pics and all sorts of goodies.
All the clones and moms are safe and I'm prepping for round 2 though
Take care friends. Updates when I'm back up and running, which should only be a few days here...
Mother nature can be finicky. Even in our perfectly created climates inside our grow rooms.
Sorry to hear about the flood. You seemed to have handled it well. I'm curious to know how harvesting earlier will influence the effects. Please let me know :]
I thought about getting the vaportek optimum 4000 or the cheaper one, but instead I got an Ozn Jr ozone generator to help more so with the smell of smoked cannabis than with the grow. I'm not sure how much it helps, but the cost has easily been worth the peace of mind. I use to think of my cats as a 3rd line of odor control, but I no longer have them I really need to get to a new state so I can have plants and cats again; whom I prefer the company of more than people.
Can do on the early harvest effects catman... Still waiting on a bit of a cure before I begin judging
Next run is going to be a 3- part special...
- All my Casey Jones females will be flowered out
- My 3 sour bubble females will all be run again along with my pollen chuck, NH...
I hope to dip my hand into breeding in these next few months, as I have enough head stash for a bit
I'm looking to play with some crosses of sour bubble, casey jones, and my pollen chuck new hashberry...
Lookout for
- sb x sb (Both bx3 and bx4's are included)
- CJ F2's
- Mixing the strains both ways hopefully... All males to all females (sb x cj and cj x sb)
- Finally my new hashberry will get hit up by both with nh x sb... And nh x cj
I've just gotta collect some pollen and label everything properly... It should be fun
ha ha! NICE! I'm gonna make some crosses myself. Keep me informed JButt... I was also thinking Sourbubble x sativa...
Sour Pineapple/Grapefruit maybe? hmmmm...
I think this thread could use a little revitalization....
Deciding to keep it going and document my next from seed run, along with some breeding, and my flower room...
I received some killer chem F2 freebies from the Bay. These are up and running now.... Check the little buggers...
First for authenticity...
I popped all 7 (yes 7, not 5 like the pack stated) and had 100% germination.
They are all sitting in coco under a few 23w fluorescent bulbs. I will start moving them in and out of the flower room once they get a little bigger for some larger, more intense light.
I'll be getting some full room shots later tonight, and my breeding project is just about to get off the ground. Casey Jones F2's, Sour bubble F2's, and CJ x SB....
So the little killer chem's are stretching and starting to veg now. They are sitting in a closey under some florescents for a little while.
On to the, possibly more interesting, new flower area. I originally planned on just running my 400 CMH, but I lucked into a group of 8 or 9 casey jones girls from a single pack.... That along with my 3 sour bubbles and my nh pollen chuck, I've decided to add in my 250 watter again.
So, we have much the same setup as the last show. Just slightly more ghetto, with more trimming, a connected wire screen, and some new plants...
I just added the 250 today. Here they are sitting pretty with the new light.
The casey jones are at Day 11 and SB 4, 6, 10, and nh will be repotted into 2 gallon hempys and flipped today. Should be a lot of fun this round
Everything has been repotted, we have our final female counts, and all have been started on 12/12...
In the room we have...
- 8 Casey Jones, all from seed
- 3 SB, all different clones from a seed pack
- 1 New Hashberry. My original pollen chuck from an outdoor season a few years back. I popped a few and found this girl. The parents were a fat fruity New Purple Power from Nirvana, crossed to a tight hashberry male from mandala seeds.
- A few stray casey jones in beer cups and a tub. These will be pollinated by casey jones for F2's, and by sour bubble
Here's a full shot of the room...
New Hashberry Day 1
SB 4 -- 6 -- 10 Day 2 (on the top in 2 gallon buckets)
Hey there...
We are starting to get interesting in here again.
We have some Casey Jones at Day 21... Here are a few of the shots... More in my CJ thread...
Then the Sour Bubbles at Day 10... I'm narrowing down the keeper list and have cut one of these girls, can you guess which one didn't make the cut?!?! She's still a pretty plant, just a bit slow
Then we have some killer chems going! I'm real excited about these, but have been kinda neglecting them. They are surviving though... I dropped one and her tiny little seedling stem got bent. It was a week ago, and she is slowly yellowing. She might be dust in the wind The bigger clones are my CJ moms
More killer chems... Getting the repot tonight, and the flip in 3 to 4 weeks.
There's only 6 left after my little accident. I always seem to lose 1 seedling out of each pack. The one that got away.... probably the dankest of the bunch I bet!!!
Think they needed the repot?? I'm digging this coco for sure
Great to have you by kw!!! The hash is great. I've done a second run, and may do a third. The second seemed to yield nearly as well so there's many goodies left to collect.
Shots of the flowering room...
This was a shot I really liked. I just went in the room snapping blindly minutes before the lights went on. This one came out of that fit.
All the way on the top left is a casey jones
Then you can see a New Hashberry with its green cup and label.
In the middle is a casey jones
In the front is a sour bubble
A couple of sour bubbles (My competing keepers. The tall lanky SB 4, or the shorter, bushier SB 10)
And wrap it up with a CJ macro... 28 days into 12/12
