I never said Pro-Tetk isn’t a quality product. But, ur spoutin off B/S. If u think Pro-tekt is a 1/8 of the price, then it should cost $7.50 an L. And at $35 a gallon that’s $9.25 a L. So what am I missing? Maybe u get the best deals, no one else knows about.
How impractical is it? I've never had an issue with it being hard to mix. Have u ever used this product or u just talkin shit? I use it as my Ph up and I only need about .5-1ml for 5 gallons. So this bottle will last longer than I will.
Here’s the math-
Pro-Tekt- Silica Bloom-
7.8% silicon 53.2% silicon
53.2 / 7.8 = 6.8205128
So Yellow Bottles is 6.8 times more concentrated. It costs $60/L. so the Pro-Tekt should cost 6.8 times less.
So its not 8x times the cost.

Lets try this math again.
So bloom is 53.2% and protekt is 7.8%
As you said, 53.2/7.8 = 6.8, so protekt should be 6.8 times cheaper....
Protekt is $35 for a gallon, and there are 3.75 L (roughly) per gallon, which breaks down to $9.25 per liter.
Now we divide the price of the bloom ($60) by the price of the protekt (60/9.25) and we come out to 6.5.......
So, in the end, it turns out they are almost equal in price in regards to silica content. When I said 8 times I was just roughly estimating off the top of my head and it wasnt meant to be something that was analysed.
So protekt gives you just about the same bang for your buck but it has two advantages.
1. It has more potassium by weight so you are getting the benefits of added potassium
2. it is easier to work with because bloom is too concentrated to handle easily. It is very easy to overdose with just a couple extra drops. Also, it becomes harder to mix because most people dont know how to use silica products in terms of mixing. They need to be added to your water first or atleast before anything containing calcium is added. If you add a silica product into water that already contains added calcium you will see cloudiness as the calcium binds with the silicon as it first enters the water. The higher concentrated the silica product the more dramatic this will be. Protekt is already concentrated enough that it can be a problem if not added to the water first, so yellowbottles 6.8 times more problematic.
These problems can be avoided by just adding silica products to your water first and allowing them to dilute, whether that be protekt or bloom's silica.
The bottom line is that I prefer a product that for the same cost gives me equal silicon, more potassium, and is less risky in terms of overdose and less hazardous to work with. (yellowbottle would damage your skin pretty bad if you didnt wash it off quickly)
Im not saying yellowbottle makes a bad product and thats probably why the OP mentioned it along with protekt in the original thread posting. I just feel that protekt is superior for the reasons previously listed
