Electric Bill

I'm thinking about a 8Kw legal medical grow (5 1k lights and the rest for cooling and accesories) in the basement of my house in SO CAL. Anybody have any information on what the electric bill would be? It is base on a tier system and I would assume I would fall under tier 5 which is .32 cent per kw. Also with this high consumption of electricity would it cause any issues with the power company or my local PD? I would love to here any comments or opinions.

Holy Jesus! $.32/kWH!!! I know that's normal for a lot of you, it just blows me away every time I see it in print.

Clearly it is Legal, it's will be a collective amongst me and other medical patients. We have all our paperwork look over by an attorney and notorized. All the bills will be paid on time. The reason for the concern is even if you can prove you are hosting a LEGAL medical grow, the LAW will still make up reason to get that warrant to come and take your MEDS! At that point it is your burden to prove in court of law that it was done within LEGAL boundries. Which I can and will be able to prove. Just dont want to deal with the latter part. So that is why the question above has been asked.

I am in the US and it is .7 kwh here :) Still paid close to $800 in electric this month due to all the AC blasting just for my room to suck it in and blow it out.

All I can say is that I feel sorry for anyone who pays more than a single digit for electrical power. It's what happens when you have to pay for dick and harry to shovel coal into a big ass furnace.

4 x 1000 watters, 1x 950 watt ac unit, 2 maxfan 8", 4x18" oscillating fans and 480watts in the mother room brings it to around $890. So Cal here too and I'm in the tier 5 at .32 cents also. If ya think you have a big enough ac unit buy twice the size you need to keep it from running all day. Run mom room at 18/6 and always run lights at night since its cheaper and not during peak hours.

I have excellent health care. The best in the world, that's why people come from all over it to get their health care here. No lines either.
I also know how to spell "else". I also am enough aware of the world around me to know that the US is a really big place with varying challenges in getting electricity to all parts of it in the quantity desired. California is one of those places. Turns out TOO MANY people WANT to live there.
I doubt you can say the same about whatever, wannabe like the US, country you're from.

thank you what the, really tired of hearing people talk shit about the US. it may not be a utopia, but it is still the best place in the world to live, and even though are rights seem to be getting whittled away, we still have so much more freedom than most any other countries out there. im an american and damn proud of it

...which also likely gets foreign aid from our tax dollars.

Sorry I don't like ignorant (any) political posts in the wrong forum. I'll stop contributing to that now.

$550 will be the start, then it just depends on your laundry, tvs, etc.

Not even close.

Assuming your on Ediso, and depending on the size of your house, you will be at about $1200+ every 30 days.

Edit: saw the 8k and assumed you were doing 8k worth of lights, not 5k + ac/others. So more like 1200 to be safe, I always estimate a little higher. Get your posts up to 25 and shoot me a private message.

It should be fairly easy to estimate. If you look at you electric bill, it should tell you how many Kilowatt/hours you used. From that, you can figure your charges per kilowatt/hour. Multiply that by the amount of kilowatt/hours you'd be using with 8kw of lights and accessories and you should be pretty close. It costs me about 45 buks per month to run my 600 watter for 12 hours per day. Good luck..

.32 c a kw/h....that is crazy.....round where i live we pay .07c for the first 25 kw/h and .05c from there on.....

my guess is all the growers taking huge amounts of electricity, makes the hydro company charge more because they know they are going to make big bucks with all the growers out there
