grow guide.

Since its raining like shit right now, im in the mood to write a minute growguide thats ment for people wanting to grow guerrilla in Finland.

Find or make an open spot in some clearcut (hakkuu aukea) preferably next to a ditch that still holds some water. (hint:Look google earth to get a first impression, allthough picture quality of Finnish clearcuts might not be that great)

Look for the kind of clearcut that has up to 4 mtr tall trees in it: The sun will still shine over the tree tops but you and your crop will still be hidden out of sight.

Bring lots of good soil, the more the better.

Anyting between 250 liter and a cub suits the job, depending on your expectation.
(bringing 500 liter in your backpack is a one nights job if you spread it out in bagged up portions of 15 to 30 kg , meaning you ll have to carry up and down 34 or 17 times.

500 liter will still fit in the car if youre willing to use the back seats too :)

Make a dome shaped hill that resembles a shallow volcano. >meaning, give it some raised edges so water poured on wont be immediatly running off.
Make sure the suface of this hill is smooth and level so it will spread the water poured or rained on evenly.

Height of hill should be anywhere between 30 and 70 cm and diameter inbetween 1 and 2 meter down at the base circumference.

*Bigger is better! Lazy is less.

Water this hill toroughly on the 13th of may.

Pre germinate plenty of Dieselryder seeds at the 13th of may using the moist cotton methode and place them equally spaced on top of the hill on may 15th, cover it with a thin layer of *topsoil.(7mm)

*applied by shaking a sieve(siivila) over the seeds in wich some soil is added.

from here on, dont worry :thank you:

Most sprouts will survive initial frost and thrive well afterwards.

If it has rained sometimes, dont water at all, if it hasnt rained and the grow tips turn a lighter coulour as the remaining leafes, water moderatly.

Soil composition is 50% Biolan Musta Multa mixed in with 50% dried brown clay chunks dug up from a ditch.

I use to overwinter 500 liter of this mix in a heated building under plastic in a huge plastic container making sure its been kept moist and fertilized as well.

On 500 liter soil, I add half a liter of chalk to get eventually ph 6.2, 200 gr PK artificial fertilizer (no N at all) 20 litre chicken shit, 8 liter woodash, half jatepussi sheep woll at the bottom, stinging nettle stems and leafes on top as much as there fits and hundreds of live rainworms to compost all of this.

After one year, all this will get an EC reading of 2.0 wich will just not be too strong for the young seedlings to hamper but still hold enough nutrients for mature plants to bud out well.

I myself am mainly improving strains this way by keeping some males alive while aiming for seeded harvests using the survival of the strongest principle.

On a typical hill of 500 to 1000 liter I might easely start off with 300 to 600 seeds per hill in order to eventually end up with only 30 to 60 of the better genetics bearing plants.

Meaning, I cull out all the ones that dont live up to my expectations with great pleasure. :bump:

Point is, the whole thing in essence is so totally simple, I made some befriended beginners now do it this way and im always happy to get some pics from them showing me their progress :thank you:

Nice  good tips for the outdoor growing mate..! I use many similiar methods...

Those clearcuts you are talking about are great places to grow...even better if its full of deciduous trees, like birches and ashes or willows, usually all these are mixed together...young deciduous trees hide ganja plants much better than conifers...

Also it's good to remember to investigate the area and be sure that there's not any berries or mushrooms growing nearby....many many people in Finland during autumn and late summer goes out to collect these preciuos offerings of the nature...I have lost some plants for this reason..!

Good stuff offthehook

Tnx for your response BG!

I wanted to make it as short and to the point as possible, mainly to encourage young ppl sitting at home not having a possibility to do an advanced indoor grow and beeing ignorant about the huge possibilitys our great rural areas have to offer in return for a one nights stand of spilling a bit of sweat.
You know how everyone is begging for weed all the time and how dried up the area one lives always seems to be.
(Even though a supply of stash that could last for half a decade is basicly just one night of army style labour away.)

Sure! one better doesnt grow in areas with lots of mushrooms and berries, but it depends on how remote and difficult a spot is to access.

Tnx for adding this.

Plenty of mummos and older ppl (Asians :D ) who are still in the trade of searching for those, usually are already familiar with places where they can expect plenty while feeling at home like in the supermarket.
I mean, not too many ppl fancy crossing clearcuts full of ditches and manually removed and scattered trees laying around everywhere for them to hurdle over and to get to their berries.
They already know where there might be some. (wich is usually confined to some verry small local areas that provide nice crops to them year after year, while not having to leave the car for more then a couple of hundred of meters.)

Ofcourse there is also an option of letting your plants blend in with the environment and use some camouflage technics, as you said. TY!
Still, I feel more safe in Finland wishing my stash to go unnoticed as I would be doing anywhere else on this planet :)
I never encountered ppl in these remote places, and if they were there, chances to accidently run in my spots are something like one in a million and chances to actually notice those plants to be cannabis by some berry picking granny are even slimmer.
It has happened to me that while running around in the clearcuts for orientating purposes, I passed by my own spot with fully grown plants and without noticing them myself when I arrived at the spot from a different angle as usual.
(im sure this must have happened to you too, hasn, t it ? :)

The mindset from ppl searching for mushrooms and berries is most likely aimed at those fruits while trying to move forwards as they search.
Chances to stumble upon a bunch of plants in multiple acres of clearcut, recognizing them to be weed and feeling an urge to add them to their fruit basket or informing neighbours or authorities about them seem rather insignificant in comparison to Finnish size scale.

But ofcourse there will be always murphys law ya know, sorry to hear you got one of them experiences with it. :(

There are plenty of ways to grow cannabis outdoors, but for multiple reasons (and in case of interest I d be willing to elaborate upon), I confined my way to the brief summary here above when it has to be done here in Finland.

Some friend of mines told me some clever saying with wich he flattered me a bit:

Went like> Newbees know plenty of ways to get results, experienced ppl only know SOME ways. :)

Nice to hear you came to the same conclusions as I did BG. Hope to hear from you again so we could promote our hobby and methods here a bit and kick some young craving beggars off their ass in order to get their spot prepared for next spring now while everyone is out of stash :D

Yes..! You are right...most of the time people avoid these clearcuts...becouse they are quite difficult to cross...absolute hell to walk..! Not to mention carrying loads of soil to the spot...and usually no berries growing in the clearcuts...making them relatively safe places to grow.!

Oh yes, I have missed my plants many times during my maintenance visits...funny moments sometimes :D ...when this happens you really should smoke more and start searching again...they are hidden very well by the mother nature...

Growing guerilla style is so easy way to grow nice stash for the upcoming winter...everyone should try it...it only takes few drops of sweat, lots of swearing (damn mosquitos and all kind of flys) and few euros...good genetics won't do harm either...

Keep the good stuff coming...!

Both of our spots are around clearcuts. Yes, an absolute hell to walk mostly but that's just a good thing as you mentioned :)

I know of two grows that were found a couple of days apart by the SAME family!
Be careful out there and may the Force be with you.

Thats Murphys law Piel, same as the guy who holds the record for beeing struck by lightning... was it 6 times ? :)

The right mindset to enter your clearcut should not be one of caution, then you freak out by every sound of the forest and expect viscious observers to be watching you behind every tree.

The mindset should be one of reasonabillity.

Carefull is the right way to say it Piel, indeed.

Try to make sure you are not beeing seen by anyone when in the vicinity of your grow op.
Happily trees hold good abilities to dispatch us into oblivian once we re in the forest.
Its the roads that are used by locals that should make us worry a bit.
Most of us already do have some kind of reputation if it comes to using the herb and ppl are always taking pride in rumoring who they have seen where, and what they were most likely about to do there.
Still, when im on a road, I behave like im on a road just like anybody else !

But going out at night in almost any clearcut here in FL, theres nothing out there exept you and some animals that try to flee on the moment you arrive.
Thats what I mean with keeping a reasonable mindset. Always know that its just you and the forest since the odds that there would be someone else is close to zero.

@ BG, Thought so it would have happened to you too:) we stoners sure do share some things in common. I got a good laugh outa it just, when you said you recognized the situation :D

Man, Ive been lost so many times, unbelieveble, but that way you ll learn to know the environment better.

Nowadays this happens less cuzz now I learned to look for obvious recognizeble and memorizeble landmarks in order to find my way around cuzz I dont like making tracks, but maybe thats even somewhat like overkill.

Whats your take on making tracks guys? I never saw that many helicopters flying here in FL that had a suspicious flight pattern, any of you seen shit like that?

Well, I don't get lost in the woods...but sometimes I just lost my plants :D

Tracks...obiviously grower have to avoid making any trails...I try to use different routes everytime when visiting the spot...trying not to stomp forest floor vegetation as much as possible when closing the plants...at the same time trying to find any animal tracks to see if there's any plant eating animals around now and then ...this way getting clues how to protect my crop...and what kind of animals have to be deal with...building a fence is pretty sure metho but I dont' like it myself at all...it's too obvious and can be seen far away...guerilla garden should look as natural as possible...destroying any trees or bushes also should be avoided...and respect the nature as it is..! (btw now I know that I share my spot with a bear/bears. I have found twice bear foot prints very near my plants!)

Actually this is not even first time hanging with the bears for me...years back I used different even more remote growing spot...one time when I was walking back to my car I sat down into nice open spot for a smoke and drink...spliff was nearly finished and then sudden cracking voices "waked" me...
I looked and there in the treeline was momma bear with her two cubs..! about 20 - 30 meters away from me (they came fast, nearly running, probably playing)...Im staring at bears and bears staring at me...funny thing was that bears looked very surprised when they saw me...Fuck, gives me the creeps even today when Im thinking about it...I was lucky...I stood up started walking slowly back and to my car...bears took of the other way...One of the best experiences I ever have..! I wasn't high anymore after this...Such a huge rush of adrenaline..!

Helichoppers are very expensive machines to use...Law officials don't have resources to fly around trying to find just some plants...these choppers are used mainly for rescuing people...

One of the thumb rules is; never go check the spots while stoned. I know some might disagree with me on this one but while you're stoned, there is no way you can a) maintain calm at all times, b) stay alarmed enough (not too much) at all times c) whatever, shit, I could go on about this for a long time but I guess you get it. It's the unnecessary risks you have to avoid. If you CAN minimize your risks, then do so. When you get busted or whatever, I bet you regret for doing something that you could've done in more safe but a bit more troublesome way. Fuck cutting corners, play it safe.

And no, I haven't smoked before going to check the spots :) I like to play it safe. I'm not a freaked out coward though. I have lived over 20 years in the countryside and I have always been close and keen to the nature so it's not something I'm not familiar with.

Oh, one more thing people: learn to recognize the shit you find in the woods :) It's helpful in few ways.

Thought so too on the chop chops BG, still im not too fond of making tracks anyhows, just part of playing carefull.
One tip to keep moose,(arctic) hare or roe & reindeer from inspecting your plants from up close goes like this >
Take some metal jarrs with a tight fitting lid.
Put some AA operated quarts clocks in them and seal them with electriciens tape to avoid corrosion of the battery.
Hide the jarrs in the near vicinity of your grow op underneath some reindeer moss or whatever material is around that wont obstruct the sound of the clocks ticking.

I d like to elaborate on this. Back in the days I had an interrest in designing animal traps and running traplines up in lapland. ( stopped the interest eventually since my consciense told me to stop it for cruelty reasons though.)
Nevertheless, it teached me a lot about animal behaviour.
Animals in the arctic are extremely cautious of everything thats even remotely at odds with whats familiar to them. Especially weird sounds!

If i would not have given myself lots of trouble to disguise my traps as well as I possibly could, no animal would have ever trusted himself to inspect the layed out bait and get caught.

I noticed that their sense of hearing is extremely good, and if I would have put a ticking alarm clock next to my baited traps... NO WAY, they would have token the trouble to go check it out any further.
Hence I incorporated the quarts clock system near my grow ops for the plant eating mammals to scare them away from my "cannabis baited" grow hills.
So far (sixth querilla grow season)... in no any of my cannabis "baited" hills did I ever encounter any mamal damage so far, even though tracks were regularly beeing found in their close vicinity. ( ditch near by! )

Only if we with our Human ears, would concentrate on the clocks ticking, we might be able to hear it, Mammals on the other hand will pick it up no matter what and regard it as possible trouble for them.

Tiimari and K rauta will be selling these clocks for under 5 euro kpl, but the simplest ones go for 2.50 kpl since these are ment to incorporate in existing or custom made clocks.
The AA Battery will last for over one year, provided you keep it safe from humidity.

Now everyone can feel 50% more relaxed I hope.

Stonedgolem, I m with you about the going out stoned, it s difficult to keep a well reasoning mind set once you are at risk.

For me, there is more at stake as for beginners who dont have a crime record for growing weed. (indoor bust long time ago)
Hence the idea of the game is to keep thoughts about law enforcement at bay for as much as possible.
Having smoked and keeping your mind "law enforcement free" while on the job is indeed a dreading task :D

On the other hand, during times that I almost didnt have any risk at all, I surely enjoyed spending time with my plants while High as Heaven :)

So dudes how did it work out? I got most of my stuff dried and stashed away, I just hope that the last ones don´t freeze before they´re finished flowering...

harvested all the true autoflowers, lost about 15% to mold, no biggie. germination and harvest a week earlier would've been perfect. tried the diesel ryder after a lil tolerance brake and it blew me away, very strong shit...

otherwise, a month still left with with the earlys, they should give at least couple a K's of dry! :D

Same here, all auto's made it perfectly well, cept for about 1% of seedpots going bad to toprot wich was deliberatly beeing used as an indicator to cut them out immediatly.

Some early flowerers still up and running but many got damaged badly by excessive frost during 17th,18th and 19th of august, (65th lattitude here!)
These dates ofcourse also ment that the last auto's left standing had to go out immediatly since they can't handle any significant amount of automn frost when in full bloom.
The seeds of them were for the biggest part perfectly ready so I ain't got nothing to complain, piece of cake, everyone can do it.

Diesel Ryder sure is a Killer smoke SP, for next year btw I layed my hands on some Dieselryder X AK47 beans from a friend who's seeded yield averaged 80 gr per plant this year.
He showed me some nice pics of his verry decent looking plot and said there is more of a "high" to it, so im perfectly willing to try them out. (100% auto all, but he got them from a friend, so im not sure if he's having the easyryder or something else)

I haven't weight my biggest seeded DR yet, but I estimate her at about the same or maybe even more.

We 'll see what she does when she's completely dried and cured.
