Seriously? Last one I bought was six or seven years ago - how did they change them? If that isn't how they look it isn't a proto pipe anymore
mine don't look so nice 'n shiny is what I meant, mine's got enough patina on it to pass for a civil war relic.......

lol...lots of pipes were turned down in metal shop at school. Brass fitting pipes were commonplace in the 70s. Short nipple and a 90 and you were in business! Seen some very creative brass fittings pipes.

One of my treasured pieces is a deer antler bowl made by a bro while he was doing a little r&r in Starke. He made a little pouch for it out of prison greys. I still have it somewhere...
lol..don't ask me how he got deer antler in...

Plastic bongs about 4 ft tall were hot items.
My boy tbone would make each new visitor take a full bong pull, or they couldn't hang out in the lair.
(lol..I remember him being very serious about that, and if you choked the pull...you had to go no if ands or buts. "Try again tomorrow, Jr!" :)

We used a proto back in the late 78-79 era, but only for hashish. Otherwise they suck.

I had one of those the old school "The Mill" wood pipes from the 80's best replacement for metal and bone until glass came along in the early 80's.

I remember buying my first color changing glass piece in 84 those purple pink sherlocks, and it lasted me till 88 when I lost it during a move.

Glass is for puffing EVERYWHERE, not just at home.

Glass is best, the rest is trash.

We had one we called the brass monkey after a line from a Beastie Boys song. That was '89, '90. I think early teens all experiment with brass fittings pipes. We also made these "vases" in school that we quickly drilled holes in at home to make bongs.

So I did go out and get another Proto Pipe. Haven't used it yet though.

Next I'm gonna get one of those Hanalei Blue's Celebration pipes that you have S4L. It's the one I like best out of their selection.

Nice Chillums An Old Friend. I could see myself using the smaller one.

I really like meerschaum pipes , had one in germany could only get hash there it only took like a year to turn it brown. The strangest I ever had was a black water pipe that had two chambers w/ two tubes that went to the second chamber , it sucked to get the water level correct, when everything was correct it worked good. I had one of those 4' plastic bongs red at the bottom going to clear at the top ooh yeah they worked good.

So many pipes over the years, I always loved making a pipe on the spot out of found materials. Did you know you can make a pipe out of a cigarette hard pack and use the paper tinfoil as a screen, it is only good for three or four hits but it works. I worked at a myrtlewood shop where we turned bowls and plates and I started collecting the left over pieces from where you would rough cut a bowl out of the square stock, made 30 or 40 pipes at work that were all given out, shit I still have a good sized cardboard box full of blanks.

Anyway one of my all time favorite pipes was ones I made from seashells that my grandmother brought back from Mexico.

Just break off a little bit of the small end, rinse well, add a screen, add some green and you are ready to rock.

I remember being a young rascal, around age 13, going up to the hardware store and purchasing several brass pieces, elbows and threaded connectors and various pieces to make myself a pipe.

When I walked to the counter to pay for my "hardware" the first words out of the ladys mouth were "Now be careful how you assemble that!".

That was my first ever pipe, sure had some good memories with ole brassie. We would dig into dads bag of herbs without him knowing, and get all the neighborhood kids high. Ohhh the days of innocence.

This was a nice trip down memory lane. If you didn't have a proto with the chamber stuffed you were doing it wrong, lol.

The first pipe I ever purchased was a little one hitter that looked like a surf board.
