This Excel seems to be a hard act to follow. Seems they are covering every angle for the grower. I also like what Elvme2 said in these situation you get what you pay for even though they are a lil more expensive.

I hid mine in my attic

only issue with this is I needed to make an intake and exhaust for the outdoor unit as the ambient temperature of my attic is rather warm. If the outdoor unit draws in warm air it wont work that efficiently and it probably wont work for very long either. I was planning on having some ducting made so that I could draw in fresh air through the roof and then exhaust out the face of my attic where an existing vent was located. Might be an option for you to explore if your trying to get real stealthy!

Nice setup. I like the idea of hanging it rather than putting it on the ceiling truss members. How quiet was it? Seems a couple vibration dampening machine mounts would be a nice addition. Or is that what it is mounted to? Looks like rubber washers. Not a bad method, but the machine mounts are actually physically separated, no through bolt.
Have you thought of a thermostat controlled attic fan?
like this 1600 CFM

It was super quiet! Just sounded like a normal fan when you were in the attic couldnt hear it in the house. The unit is mounted on 1.5" rubber isolators. I actually have a 1600cfm attic fan installed that i use to vent teh attic when it gets really hot up there. I never got around to ducting it as the quotes I was getting to repair the unit were way to high so I went the window AC units its was cheaper than the repair and I needed to get some means of cooling my grow space before everything died.

yeah, you need to call a couple more places or look in craigslist. That should be a pretty cheap repair.

again, very nice setup.

Lucky you guy have had luck with minis I bought one and it did not cool my 5k

I had to relocate and shut down but I have a 5ton central a/c.

That as soon as I find a place to do my thing again I will set up the 5ton central a/c. Or get a water cooled unit.

I installed it my self with the charged lines easy but didn't cool check out my old gallery pics.

I can't get the pic out of my gallery but it has two fans big unit.

Yeah with 5 tons I can cool 15 lights with no prob. That's how the guy had his grow set up he got popped I took the 2 5ton units and about 30 ballast and timer boards co2 and controller.

This guy was pulling major numbers 2 rooms 5ton a/c in each with 15 lights fixed to the ceiling. 10gl buckets of I don't know what he used but he's out of the game.

And doing bad. Wounder if he will get back in; too bad his house was under his name and so were the utilities but he didn't live there And he is still going to court.

Lesson here rent the house not buy the house. And if it is your house and get caught in it your fucked like him.

Lost it all.

I have an LG LMU180HE 18000 BTU mini split has a heat pump so you can use it to warm your room in the winter. Unfortunately the line set I bought was bad (the Flared of one of my copper line ends pulled through the coupling) and once I hooked everything up the system worked great for a day until all my refrigerant leaked out. AC guys now want $1000 to recharge and vac my lines. So I gave up on it. Honestly I wish I had gone water cooled this one was nice but the R410 refrigerant is about $90 per lb my unit takes 3 lbs

Ya.. my best friend is an HVAC tech (Very useful...) This service should be no more than $200..

Also, r-410a refrigerant is about $200-$250 for 25lbs.. ANYWHERE.

Ok, Ok! I see some nice units here, and that's good and all, but where are some A/C units that are analog and not digital so my controllers can turn them on and off?? Do I need to go stay at a Motel 8 and steal some of their old ass analog units? lol Maybe I should say F* the controller and let the A/C run continually instead of having a LOW/HIGH thresholds? How is everyone running their units? 24/7? Do any of these digital units have memory for power outages and do not require you to press the power button if it's unplugged?

I just installed a 12K Mr. Slim for my 3K grow. I wouldn't say the install was easy, but it was definitely doable. The unit was $1700 delivered, plus another $500 or so for a diy install (wire, vacuum pump, manifold guages, etc). I skipped the pressure test and made sure it held vacuum before releasing the refrigerant.

Compared to the 11k portable this thing replaced, it's a dream come true. It maintains temp to +/- 1 degree and freed up valuable floor space. The outdoor unit is beyond quiet, it's practically silent. The indoor unit is almost as quiet, and the remote controller has easy to access features including a timer, but with the precision of the thermostat and the inverter technology, I don't know why you'd need it.

The only design flaw is how tight they make the electrical connections, but I still can't get over how quiet it is, I want to buy a couple more for my house. We're having a hell of a hot, humid summer here on the east coast, and Mr. Slim just saved my a$$.

If anybody has any questions, just ask.
