Just for kicks- Check your soil carefully for root aphids. Everyone has em these days.

Don't put yourself through the same shit I put myself through.

Oh, and invest in genetics as has been mentioned before. I wouldn't recommend fem seeds.

Grows over can't check for aphids, however, there were some tiny red spider mites from what I could tell, only on a few plants. My guess is the soil was pretty foul, he seemed to always over water as I never saw it bone dry once the entire time.

Also another question... as I said earlier I'd love to run 2 rooms, one veg one flower, 50 ladies in each.

My question is does 4kw hps for flower and 1kw mh for veg sound adequate or way more needed?

Also what would be the best way to run it so the powers not all being used at once?

there are a few variables to that question. The number one being plant size. one k for veg will only work with smaller plants or plant numbers. If you try to veg 50 under one light in order to flower under 4k eventually the light footprint will not be big enough and it will be a pain in the ass. Plants on the outside will become spindly and its a pain to move them around. Break them up into two groups and harvest once a month if its a 60 day strain. There are an infinite number of ways to accomplish this you just have to work out how big to veg in order to maximize and fill in the flower room area and this is strain dependent. Also look into a light mover in the veg area it will help get even coverage.

and (4) 1k Hortilux HPS for flowering

Two seperate rooms, one veg one flower, that way I can hopefully finish a flower, and swap the current vegging ladies into the flower room, and take the newly rooted clones and drop them into the empty veg room...

Not in your list but Serious seeds white russian is the plant you would love, simply massive. That or KC brains because its the best hi yield strain on the cheap. Although I doubt it was genetics, unless you where growing something very finicky your problem lies in the soil. Tiny root zone plus no dissolved oxygen in the soil (overwatering is the main cause, watering with stagnant water is another) equals tiny buds.

So basically you need four steps to get your yield in the 3#+ range

1. KC Brains, White Russian or AK47

2. Quadruple your pot size (a 1 gallon pot is going to yeild 1/4 as much as a 4 gallon pot) DONT LET THEM GET ROOTBOUND!

3. Get a idiot proof soil with perlite + enough nutrients to get you into flower, this way you wont have to worry about feeding them more than once or twice and you wont burn them (nute burn is the #1 cause of reduced yeilds.)

4. Do not over water! Young plants dry out faster so you have to be careful; but let the soil dry out between waterings it may take up to four days or even longer and thats with a fast draining mix.

That was definitely his issue, I actually noticed that the plants left in smaller pots seemed to turn bright yellow and wilt, the larger pots remained dark green and perky...

Yea you can scale up that way if you want. I would still suggest light movers in the veg room. Get ready for a shit load of work come harvest and figure out a large cool dark area for them to dry in. Also, and I can not stress this enough get great genetics. I would suggest something from mr. nice seedbank (black widow, shit, ssh etc. etc.) or serious seeds do a little research). I am out.

i would reccomend bogs genetics - absolutely phenominal and just as easy to grow- bogglegum and like stated before serious seeds ak47 is awesome or go straight for the rezdog genetics -he just realeased chemdog ibl should prove to be exciting.
personnally i would go with the bogglegum- ive bought three packs since 2004!!!! hopefully never lose it again if i do ill replace it before i buy a grade of meat higher than a hot dog!!!

Google "attitude seed" they have mr nice and kc all that. The boo is out of stock of critical mass.

But I will again recommend you look at serious seeds on the boo they have AK47 and white russian (white widow and AK 47 cross). White russian has everything you are looking for in a strain!

#1 mistake was probably using bag seed. #2 on the list was no nutes. Fix this, and you should see massive improvements. You should also look in to cloning. You start with solid genetics. Grow the plants from seed. Top the plants, root the cuttings you took...and then put those plants in to flower. Once you find the females...you LST the clones you have and get them nice and bushy so that they can grow out to be mother plants. Once you have your ideal mother plant(fits criteria which you prefer), then grow from clone. It is from here where you really can get intimate with that particular pheno...and extract all of its potential.

You will need to get cloning down, as I think it is the most important skill a grower can have. Check out a DIY aero cloner. Easy to make, and cheap. www.stinkbuddies.com has DIY directions. Any idiot can build it.

Hey man, I know everyone is hammering you on quality genetics...I think most of your problems (your buddys) were not so much in genetics and a whole heck of a lot more in your technique. You have said already the lights were just 'in the corner of the room', everything was overwatered to shit, no nutes were used, and a ton of plants were rootbound. That for damn sure does not scream bad seeds, it screams a new guy that didn't quite know what he was doing.

There is NOTHING wrong with that big dog! Everyone has got to start sometime!... I commend you on your 12 zips. Fuck man, you got more than enough pot to smoke until your next crop...

Good genetics are AWESOME when grown correctly. People are gonna hate on me for this, but DON'T go spend $200/pack on your seeds. Wait til the weekend, see if Gypsy puts up a 8 packs for $150 special for nirvana beans, and get yourself some decent CHEAP seeds. While you're waiting for your seeds to get there, get your boy and sit down and read! Grab a book- Jorge Cervantes Bible to Growing Medical Marijuana or something to that effect, thats probably the best grow book ever. As you read, find all the flaws in your grow, where you guys went wrong. Room setup is one it sounds like. Overwatering, bad soil, etc., etc. You have a week or so to wait til you get your beans, then a couple weeks between popping them and actually having to fuck with them. Just study study study!!!

If you go through and analyze what you did, and set up your second grow correctly, you'll probably pull 3/4 to 1 lb per light your second round. No one starts pulling a g/watt in their first grows... its an art bro. You have to love doing it, LOVE your plants, be concerned about them. Feed them well, but don't overfeed, you wouldn't do that to your kids right? These are your kids now, treat em like that and they'll show you love by giving you fat tasty buds. You wouldn't leave your kids in the same clothes (pots) when they were too big for em right? Repot when they stop growing- they're rootbound. Give your kids the right environment and they'll do you good.

Once you have a couple grows under your belt THEN start looking at Rez's or Bogs shit....their seeds are 3-5x higher in price than nirvana. They will give you awesome buds- IF grown correctly. Get the growing stuff down, then you can have the mad scientist lab with all them HPSs gleaming like the sun....

Take care bro and enjoy your harvest until the next. Its gonna take you 3-4 months to get a proper second harvest, and with some more reading and working you'll be able to make clones and make things go a lot faster.

I have a cloner, 60 site. What is LST, you lost me there a sec. The plants he grew this last time were from clone, but clones made from some heady bagseed... still piss poor genetics no doubt.
