LOL. At peace. Not many who have met me would characterize me as such. Nor patient, for that manner.

What I am is happy with what I have, but not attached to it. Mindful that the only constant is change. I get stressed beyond capacity once a day, at least... but like water, I churn, overcome, coalesce. At the end of it, I feel pretty peaceful in my own way... as long as my family is healthy and thriving... I'm cool.

Mm I'm sort of a live in the moment - be peaceful in the moment type of guy ... but I always feel pretty good after a hard day of work

quotes for the day... lol

perfect for the week i've had and coming back on this thread after a few days...

everyday day something stressful, but being happy for what you have while not being attached, now thats contentment...

best wishes to everyones trials and tribs throughout the season. :)

So sad to see the dome gone, but your yard looks incredible nonetheless! Looks like it served its purpose for the year. Thank you for the inspiration!

Nice, I like the comparison picture from last year to this year...you can see the progress in the learning curve and the success it's offering...beautiful to see those plants raging ahead.

Sorry if this question has been answered before, it's hard to sort through all the pages. Last year you used Massive Bloom Stimulator, would you recommend using it again or have you found something better? I just bought an inline fertigation system (EZ-FLO system) and would like to start using additives in flower this season. Can you offer any advice you may have?

thanks, everybody.

.clunk: Last year I was really happy with the quality of my finished nug. With the exception of the Headband and Sour D which seemed to need more intense sun to finish in (The SD did amazingly well in the black boxes and will again this year)... And both Massive, from Green Planet Wholesale and Bud Candy were part of my process.

Your question is very appropriate to the moment because I woke up at about 5am with just this in my mind.

The Black boxes are starting to set flowers... its a beautiful thing to once again be a part of... Only my second time budding... third if you count the 09 boxes and OD as two separate grows. hard to believe. I have learned a lot since last year about making plants get BIG, but I have not really spent any time considering my flowering strategy. The time has come.

I have fed them nothing yet in the Bloom department as they are in pots of fresh soil... But today, many of them will be getting their first hit of Massive and/or Bud Candy. Everything will receive Old Age Bloom once a week with a little Roots Trinity. I may also top dress with a wee bit of guano.

I have six smart beds that will be in a three-way comparison. At least one will get no Bud Candy and at least one will get no Massive. I have distributed strains properly throughout the beds so a comparison between the same strains receiving different nutes will be valid. Its going to be a bit of a PITA for the uber sherpa, but he is a technician when he needs to be.

I would have liked to be working with teas by now, but its been a little hectic. I have not had the time or the headspace to build a brewer or research a recipe. I'm super bummed about it... what's the absolute simplest brewer I could build? I have a 250 gallon stock tank and a bunch of hydro air pumps, air stones, sump pumps, hydro pumps, etc. If I could be up and brewing tea with materials on hand, I would probably throw down...

This is as good a time as any for the real pros to add their two or more cents on flowering. We have been doing a lot of talking about our early season senanigans, but have not yet broached the subject of our flowering strategies.

Tom, Fisher, TGold: I know all of you are running the light deps this year. I'd love to hear what you are feeding and when.

thanks for the insight. I've been thinking of using the Massive Bloom Stimulator throughout the entire phase of flowering at a reduced dose, something like 25% of recommendations on every watering..I'd like to try the Advanced Nutrients like Big Bud but they are very expensive, the Massive is looking like the most economical option of quality additives.

I'm also thinking of using molasses later in flower as a carb and sugar booster - this inline fertigation system has me all excited about the prospects of using liquid nutes and additives in various times through flower.

One more question, do you have any special additives to recommend in veg phase? The reason the Massive appeals to me is because it contains Trichantinol, which from everything I've read has great effects on plant growth. I'm looking for something with similiar properties that I could add for veg to really pump things up.

I till a bunch of alfalfa meal into my soil mixture for triacontinol during veg. If I ever get to brewing teas, I will have lots of alfalfa in my recipe.

Where are you getting the Massive?

Hmmm...maybe some kind of alfalfa meal tea would be a good boost in veg.

I'm just getting the Massive at my local hydro store, flowering doesn't start for me for around another 4 weeks so I've got some time to figure things out.

Hey clunk we have chatted before but I had to delete my old account due to my laptop being stolen.

If you can get gaia green products in the interior I recommend trying their all purpose blend and the liquid bat guano as a bloom stimulator. They are both cheap and don't seem to attract animals, great organic alternative to heavy harvest. Can't say enough good stuff about them.. lots of good stuff in it.

INGREDIENTS:
Alfalfa meal, steamed bone meal, blood meal, glacial rock dust, mined Potassium Sulphate, natural humate complex, Rock Phosphate, Greensand, Kelp Meal, and Gypsum.

It comes in a powder and I haven't had problems with it clogging lines or drippers.
Costs me maybe $40 for a 10kg bag.

Thanks for that heads up on the water tubes for holding the tarp down. I'm ordering them up right now. Been trying to find a better solution to using bags of soil/sand and these should be perfect.

How picky are you about light leaks? Do you crawl inside the green house every night you pull tarp and make sure there are NO leaks at all? Like tiny little pinholes? Do they matter?

We used the tarp that the store in Willits sells and it's such shitty quality that holes get worn in just from the daily back and forth.... and thats not even mentioning the shitty seams. Going to look into higher quality tarps for next year. Have my eye on some tarps used for blacking out home theaters and the fabric that is used for outdoor movie screens.

One tip i wanted to throw out there in terms of ventilating the greenhouse... What we did was to get a 10" inline fan with some ducting. The fan is outside the hoop house with the vent running under the greenhouse (dug a ditch and then burried the ducting... i would recommend rigid ducting for this though because we have water that fills the trench and kind of squeeze the flimsy ducting. the duct is then run to the top on the inside of the greenhouse to get the hottest air. Then on the opposite side we put in a couple ducts bent in 180degrees to prevent light from coming in (we dont have fans for them yet) it drops the temp in the 12x20' greenhouse by at least 10-15 degrees in about 10 mins. (It will go from 105 to 85-90) We run the fan when the genny is on at night (tarp is closed) and off and on during the day to keep it cool.

ANother tip is using two tarps on top... we had an extra piece of tarp that covers about 2/3s of the greenhouse so we just pull that every night as well. Has cut out tarp pulling time to 10minutes for one person with 100% no light leaks

We're playing with the idea of building a greenhouse like this but waaay bigger:

lean-to2.JPG

with solid sides and ends (so just the top part is letting sun) in order to make it easy to pull a tarp over a flat rectangle surface. We'd lose some of the light coming in from the sides but due to the location the front and sides don't get a ton of sun anyway (hillside and some trees)

(time to stop rambling)

Nice! You're gonna kill it this year even with the crappy weather.

I use a high quality tarp, but that still has plenty of pinhole light leaks. We pull a sheet of 6mil black plastic over before the tarp. Between the two, we had none of the kinds of problems you would expect from light leaks. I guess it means that we are light tight enough.

J:UNO. this strain came to me as J1. Its nothing like J1. But it flowers FAST... total mystery as to what it really is... I will have an opportunity to run down some leads next week. The following photos are all of the J:UNO as she is really the only photogenic ladies out there.

Oh man do I love flowers! Normally we have to wait about another month before the outdoor show starts. Thanx for bringing it on early :)
