but.. but. but.. i'll never stand a chance now !! :D i suck at this haha

but ill try my chances! ill give 26hours a day light regime... that will do the trick. hahaha

look at it this way its gonna be a chance fro you to learn and hone in your skills. from the look of it there will be quite a few experienced growers doing this so the help will be there.

ok, well, I'm good with it..

I guess the start date doesn't matter too much, as some will be running strains that take 80 days like an easyryder, and some will finish in 65..

I'll be doing sour60.

I'll sprout in paper towel, plant direct into 16oz 'beer' cup.

Mine will be organic mixed in with a room somewhere under 2kw.:)

True but i would like to get them with in one week. and some will take longer than others to finish. I am not sure what i will run in the contest yet as i have 5 different auto strains to choose from...

now about this 2kw thing :jawdrop: thats a lot of light there mister lol. Ill be interested to see how i can match up to your 2k with my 250......

That's part of the challange man, you need to start enough seeds to select out males and choose the best female as your entry. They don't tell you what to season with when you cook at a BBQ cook off.

Once the rules are set, it's up to you to show your skill/results.

That's why i was going to select 1 from 10, but i do realise we aren't dealing with baby back ribs here so #'s might be an issue for everyone.

I am down with a july start date, my assasin seeds are a lil fresh still, a couple weeks will do my germ rates some justice.

1)Dry time: I usually don't go over 10 days dry time. The buds are crisp, ready for jars. I don't run a fan on them, if i do i can get them in jars by 5/7ish days. Maybe we say you can't post dry weights until 10 days after you cut it down. As each strain will have a different finish date.

I am upto this. :jump:

Great i am looking at the 12th of july as the start date. This will give ya a few more weeks on the seeds. This will allow me time to clean my space, go on vacation and when i come back start the germ.

This sounds perfect as it took about 7 for me but i had to have a fan due to humidity levels, had to keep the air moving. Im getting more excited as more show interest. Looks like this might be a good competition

Rules

Rules

Well i see that there is a good bit of interest in the challenge. So i figure i will go ahead and set some ground rules to go on.

So lets start with the start date.

The date to start germ on your seeds will be July the 12th. 07/12/2010
On this day you may start germination of the seeds that you are wanting to get in the race. This first week is open to any new germnitaions that want to enter in the race. Once this week comes to an end no more contestants will be allowed to join. From this point the race to the end is on.

When i post the actual challenge thread i will want the contestants to post s little info about what there about to grow. For example

Strain:
How many:
Time till harvest:
Light wattage:

Rules:
1: All plants have to finish in a 16oz (.5l) "party cup." There will be no variation to this, so 16oz of soil in a random container is not approved.

2. You can start your germ anyway you like. May it be soak, paper towel or direct to soil.

3. You may plant in a jiffy pellet to start and then transplant to the cup. This will be the only time transplanting is allowed. Once it has made it to the cup no more transplants from this point on.

4. There will be no smart pots, or raised planting on the 16oz cup. If you start in a jiffy pellet it must be placed all the way in the cup and covered and not placed on top of the soil. Roots are not allowed to grow out side into a new medium.

5. Mediums can be of your liking. Soil, coco, compost, or any other medium related to pot growing is allowed. 16oz hydro systems of any sort are not allowed.

6.You can start up to 10 plants if you choose to no more but you can have less, its up to you to decide how many you want to be able to choose from.

7.Dry time is going to be a set 10 days from chop. I know that some strains are going to finish at different times than others so this is the only way to get an accurate account of the actual yield of the plant.

8. once all the plants have finished and all dry amounts are in i will post the winner of the challenge.

So there you have it guys. If there is anything that you might see as a good addition to the rules please let me know. I cant wait to see what will come out of this and to see the skills of other auto growers.

I will be gone over the next week so i hope to see some response on this. I will have the official thread up before the weekend!

Gl to everyone interested.:jump:

Great Idea M8..
Let us start laying down some standards for these girls. :good:

It hones everyones growing skills when there is a bit of competition there.

Two tips..

#1 Get everyone to photo their Finished girls next to a 1Ltr bottle.
(Ferts/milk/water bottle will do...)
That way everyone can SEE how big a girl truely is..

#2 Take a WET/CUT DOWN weight..
there is a standard % to expect when drying a girl..
so if you have a wet/cut down weight too..
you will know if someone has over or under dried...
over or under trimmed.

Can't wait to watch....

Good Luck to Everybody.....:clover:

this topic has come up before, do a search on beer cups. not that it doesnt produce a good yeild from a cup, it is usually the plant suffers from being so heavily root bound it cant stay healthy enough until the end of the growth cycle ending up in yellowing dying leaves and unhealthy buds at harvest. Not saying that for all growers, but for the most part this is what happends... but on that note I have seen 10grs from one single beer cup plant,, but she was a freak of nature that didnt know how to stop growing! and took 74 days to finish its growth cycle, AF AK 47.

I've seen a couple as well, but I can't find any links to any verifiable final yields..

That's what I think makes this a good side challenge. Then there will be a definitive thread where people can see final yields on these small cups. I've also noticed that many of those threads are either first time growers, or, people who just toss a bean into some soil to "see what happens" without giving much thought or care to the plant with a couple CFL's for light.

I'm psyched.
