It looks to me that the US will play the 2nd place team in Group D. Not England.

Although England & USA end up with the same point and goal difference, USA go into topspot because of more goals scored overall.

The topspot in group C (usa) plays second spot in group D. So, England who came second in group C will play the top in group D (prob germany..).

Shortly we find out who plays who, as Germany vs Ghana is on in a min. Everyone hopes to avoid playing the dreaded Germans...

Great set of matches today. I can't believe the continued poor officiating. USA moves through, despite officials. Good on England, Germany and Ghana as well. Glad to see at least one African nation through to elimination...

So....based on what you all said.... I 'think' it's like this???....England has to win against the top winner of Group D....and if England wins that game, they will THEN play against the winner of Group C..which although USA is at the top, they still have to win against the runnerup of Group D in order to play against England again?

My apologies guys....just trying to figure it all out.

Wow! I think a big congrats are due to Japan. I've read they should be happy just to be there. Not much of a chance was given to them. Small shift of power in this years cup! The US won their group after all!
Brasil, Argentina, are up to par, per usual.

I'm disappointed that the Aussie's are out. It was a great job defeating Serbia. If only we hadn't lost by such a big margin to Germany, we probably would have gone through.

Anyway, I'm glad we've qualified the last 2 times. It's a great sporting event to be part of.

I am thuroughly enjoying the cup, the Japanese were real bombers this morning, and most of the games have been well worth my time. I scared the shit out of my dog when we got the goal in extra time. Salute all the winners! And the losers as well.
