Use the roots excel in mine for the first 3 weeks..Thought I was protecting my roots from the uglies...Strange how many different problems come along with DWC...Truly an amazing yet frustrating way to grow...

I have run hydro units for a while. I am a firm believer in benies. Something like kodiak works well. It is true hydro is hard on the herd as is P at 60+ppms. Keeping your unit sterile is fine until you get an issue,I would use a 35% peroxide or ozone if you feel the need. I inoculate my system every 2 weeks going into flower. You can take a 5 gal paint strainer bag,fill it full of bio balls and put this under your return to the rez. Pour molasses into the bag once a week to help with the population. You can find bios for 50 bucks for a 25lb bag if you look around ag places. The one run I did without it I had root issues. Many many runs with it and no issues. Who knows maybe it is the luck of the draw But I am going with it.

when i grow dwc i only use base nutes plus a booster; nothing else except some dutch master zone if i think the system might need the extra protection

i run chillers with external heater options so temps are never a problem and are 68f all day in my uc system with pearly white roots

double check for any light leaks into the water if you can; a small light leak will give you root rot symptoms regardless of water temp

i run a sterile system with dwc; from what i've seen people have nothing but problems with benes and dwc... there is nothing organic about growing plants in netpots in buckets of water in a room so why pretend?

you can either go with benes or go sterile.... thing is i've yet to see pics of rDWC systems running bennies producing consistently.... i would LOVE to see pics.... here is a pic of some roots in a rdwc system after sitting in the bucket for over 90days... about 25 days veg and 75 days flower.

Does DD use multizen ? Good point on the hydro fungicide. He is essentially running a sterile rez..I would love for him to chime in on this...

I do not think he uses great white. I have never seen him post that but I could be wrong. even if he did, he doesnt, because that hydrofungicide kills them all

What are the benefits of using root ex, mulitzen, etc if your are sterilizing the rez? I'm perplexed on this one!!

I actually called my hydro guy and had him order me the hydro fungicide that DD uses. It appears at first glance DD was using "bennies". Now I say he runs a sterile rez.

yea, he without a doubt doesnt run bennies, I've read every post of his for the past 2yrs. he does use rootsexcell and multizen. I believe he is still boycotting HG so me might not run either anymore

i was reading the pdf on the hydro fungicide and it said to turn off all oxygenating methods while using it....

how does dd use it? full time?
