told yall it was gonna come down to the defense since both teams shooting accuracy was up the creek w/o a paddle. Both teams did a great job and I'm glad that no one star like WEST or Bryant were the deciding factor cuz it was a team effort. Tomorrow team USA vs. Slovenia in soccer. I wonder how Slovenian's feel about being called slovs when the word sloven means somebody that is messy or careless...

dude i am still fucking stoked we won that game!!!
this has been my favorite title to watch the Lakers win

anyone notice that the fucking tv network seemed to be glorifiing ONLY boston during the little montages they played thruought? There were no replays of Laker championship moments.. only the Cs... it was all cs it seemed like somebody in the controll booth might have been a little biased maybe ? oh well, Cs can have the tribute montages we'll take the back to back banner.

trey-bling on the horizon!!!!

Gotta give credit to the Lakers. They played with a lot of heart, and grit and when it all came down to it; I think they just wanted it more. What an emotional roller-coaster of a game. I was left thoroughly disappointed, and saddened. I really thought the Celtics had this.

Ayecarumba! What a championship series!!!

Congrats to all you Lakers fans, I know how happy and high you are feeling right now, only two years since I was feeling the same buzz.

Being in the place of a Celtics fan, man is it depressing now, feel like shit. I know you Lakers fans understand our pain, you were feeling the same way only two years ago. Thankfully, pain tends to fade quicker, so we'll be feeling better day by day.

That was a championship series for the history books, made my life a little more exciting for a few weeks. Not too many things can do that nowadays.....

The off season brings much mystery, definitely for the Celtics. Many questions about the team, the answers aren't coming soon unfortunately. Could be quite a few big announcements the next few months.

Because of the approaching unknown, I don't feel I have a handle on next season at all for the Celts. So, as much as I'd like to say here..."See ya in the finals next year Lakers!" I just have no clue if the Celtics are going to be in rebuilding mode, with a new coach, or are going to try to get one more good season out of the old guys.

How's this....HOPE to see ya in the finals next year Lakers!

Again, CONGRATS TO YOU, and try not to burn your entire city down.

Whatta great game by both teams. Gotta give the Lakers some love.. they kept persisting despite a horrible shooting performance by Kobe and, well the team in general.

Us Beantown fans are disappointed now but we have a lot to be proud of this year and next year could be another special one. :)

And props to Phil Jackson. More rings than fingers. Amazing!!!

Trichosaurus, well put! And Hal, GreatLakes, et al, thanks for being classy and gracious about it. It was really cool watching the series with everyone here and I love how it stayed civil in this thread. Yay us!!!!!!! :jump:

As far as the Celtics go, Sheed will probably retire (good riddance), Allen might or might not come back, Pierce is still potent but aging and slowing, and Garnett was a shadow of his former self but might actually be better next year than this year, if it takes two years to recover from his knee surgery. If Allen does come back, for a reduced price, he'll still be on the wrong side of 35. As well-conditioned as he is, that has to affect his game. Plus, I wasnt too happy to see him shoot poorly more often than shoot well.
Rondo will continue his progression but the Celts will need to be aggressive in the free agent market if they want to win a title next year. No major additions, even losing Allen, they can still be an elite team, but to win a title they need a big free agent. Joe Johnson, Carlos Boozer? Dirk, even? Though I doubt he's leaving Dallas. Maybe an outside shot at Bron-bron? Whats their salary cap look like? They can afford the luxury tax hit...

gasol should not have got some of the points he did at the end of the game he should have been called on the up and down and the celtics fucked themselves with fouls

37 free throws for the Lakers, 17 for the Celts.

The Lakers shot 18 of those free throws in the 4th quarter.

Let's be realistic here. Tim Donaghy was just throwing games for the wrong ppl.

Watch that game again, look how it was being called. Then pay attention to the 4th quater. Within the first 1:30, 2 quick fouls (questionable considering the calls in the previous 3 quarters) on Big Baby.

The one that works me up, is the late game rebound by Gasol, after Rondo boxed him out, Gasol went over his back and NO FOUL!

Ref's wrapped that one up for the Lake Show. No question. Now I got Greyskull sending me private messages about eating crow.

Ahhhh. I love athletic talent and scripting in Pro-sports.

Anyone remember the 24 point comeback against the Blazers in game 7 a decade ago? Remember watching that game and thinking, what r the Refs calling? mmmmm

And the other hand, the only reason why it was scripted for the Celts to get to the finals was for the ratings, and to bump Lebronette out of Cleveland. So we can't complain too much.

But Never think that any team in the NBA is going to win anything unless previously planned.

Peace
