DH...sounds like a great opportunity to do a photo essay as well. Once you distribute the seeds, revisiting the sites with camera in hand would be risk free. I would just make sure to be as discreet as possible when taking photos so you don't draw unwanted attention to the sites. Pre-focus for distance, put it on wide angle, and just shoot from the hip.

they find plants growing to this day at my old high school. morons put a big-ass planter in the main office. for over 40 years, the heads going to school there have tossed seeds into it. inevitably, a few sprout. YOU GO, KIDS!

My friends dad used to do this all the time. He smoked mostly seedy types of weed and collected every single seed in a giant wooden box, all for the purpose of spreading them around the courthouse grounds.... lol, great to hear you're keeping the tradition alive.
