Yeah....I miss the singing....and Africans usually have good voices, so it's kinda a shame that they can't get together some good chants and rhythm with their cumulative voices.....rather than this aweful droning with these 130+ decibel plastic horns....

Many of the other national teams have supporters that sing and chant to urge their teams along and they too are drowned out by this boring cacophony of one tone trumpet blowers......

.....usually big Football games have this rhythmic/musical dimension that I enjoy, that is now lost due to these vuvuzela's......

I'm just waiting for the riot and stampede....that's a time honored soccer tradition.

When you consider the amount of FOOTBALL games played globally everyday either on a local/national or international basis.....a riot or a stampede is rather the exception than the rule...

The vast proportion of FOOTBALL games start and finish without them.....

....very rarely a match will have the blight of violence.....which considering that human-kind is still in it's tribal evolutionary phase is to be expected to some degree....

Here is a question for our UK friends, How long do you think before someone gets an ASBO for blowing these horns in the UK???

After all ASBO'S are handed out like candy & these horns are far louder then my 800W JBL speakers.

No I dont have an asbo before I get asked....

Blue,

I see a friend in the same 'village'/small area as the youngest asbo holder in the UK
and they cheer when I blow my vuvu, so no worries there!

I agree, South African have amazing voices and it sure would sound great in stadia and bring in as great atmosphere.

Yesss! Problem solved, watching the bbc spain vs swiss match now and you can barely hear the horns at all. It's sooo much better :)

thats actually pretty amazing.. they've managed to remove the vuvu's and you can still hear cheering and individual (old stylee) air horns :D

The BBC Sound Lab is still the world leader in audio processing, the amazing thing about it is that the vuvzela is at a similar register to the human voice so a simple band-pass filter wouldn't work, they must have done some pretty tricky processing.

On MUTV yesterday they were talking about banning vuvuzelas from Old Trafford next season. They begged fans not to bring them and said if they did they might have to ban them as they annoy other fans so much.
