How to choose a breeder?

Well I think I'm getting to the point that I would like to order some beans. I'm not going to get into asking the safest way, and the safest shipping...there's enough on that around here.

What I am wondering is how to pick a breeder. I went to one site that sells and ships to my country...discreetly. But their list of breeders is 5miles long! No really...I measured it ;).

Now to me, and maybe I'm not too quick in this department, but that makes it really hard to choose what to order, because inside of any breeder's list, there's another couple miles of genetics (measured that too haha!). On top of that...say if I want White Widow for example. There's a bunch o' breeders with WW strains. How does one know which one to get???
This is harder than I thought it would be LOL.

Thanks for any advice.

the best way to pic a breeder or strain is to do some research on it this site is incredible and filled with thousands of first hand grows with honest reports for the most part read what others done and see what fits your style there are seed vendors forums so if u r interest in ww i would look in mr nice greenhouse and female seeds u could always do a search to and will find info on nirvanas and others and with that u should be able to pick one
or buy a pack of each and see which one u like best first hand

Thanks Stoney! I'll do that. Don't mind the research, just didn't really know what to look for whilst researching.
Wasn't specifically looking at WW, just pulled it out me arse. But that info is good too! I just got overwhelmed when I went to one site. So many breeders I had never heard of. Usually here in ICM you hear about the staple breeders, but there are some others out there never mentioned here...that I've seen. Which is what prompted my original inquiry.

Thanks again!

Not at all bro! I really don't mind the research, or being told to research. Just didn't know where..so thanks for that tip. Since then, I started looking at breeders here in ICM, although compared to some seed sights, the list here is not as comprehensive...so there are some breeders still in question.
75 strain?!??!! Damn dude lol!!

My grow coming up will be indoors: 2x4x7 tent, smartpots, coco, BluMat drippers, 400w HID, starting with about 6 plants. I will probably employ the "High Defoliation" method read about in other threads, just for a couple plants though.
I will do a grow journal for this one (first journal ever) mainly to document how the BluMats and the defoliation method work. This will be my fourth grow. The nute profile is still in question though.

Thanks for any input!

Breeder interaction is very important to me. Is the breeder accessible to answer any questions and support you?
Availability of the strains you are looking for.
Grow reports – current or recent grow reports are very important.
Cost.

There are a lot of great breeders around this site! I’ve had great success with Dutchgrown’s genetics lately. Rez, BOG are both excellent too. And right now you can get a lot of their gear

if you live in the US few breeders will risk giving you grow tips or information, as they know they may end up with legal issues.

I think everybody has a different opinion on breeders. For breeding I look for large tits, Nice ass, and doesn't say no to much. Like I said though everyone is different.:)

Not true....on this site you can get feedback no matter WHERE you are. Go to some of the breeder forums and ask a question. I talk to some breeders all the time. I'm not saying they will drive to your house and water your plants for you but they will reply to and answer your questions.

How about teeth? Yes or no on them?

No teeth...too much potential for um....damage??

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've been checking out SB an the list of breeders on there, cross referenced with their own sections here on ICM. Found a few I really like.

Interaction and strain stock is pretty crucial to me as well. Both Rez and DG seemed to be very active...fending off a lot flamers...but still active none the less. Plus, to stay active while/after getting slammed so much, that says a lot. Both of them stand by their methods and seem very helpful, even to ones that don't seem to deserve it.

I'll look at Mr. Nice as well Movintarget. See what he has in stock.

I'm looking for nice strong Sat dom lady that's a good pain killer for my real lady...monthly cycles are a mother fucker for her(w/out the teeth of course).

highlarious thread so far.... anyway, when i first looked into buying seed, it was the most intense research i had done at the time around 2001ish, even more so then growing, i always grew tomatoes and stuff. i ended up one night, just saying F-it and bought the original killer queen. great stuff. the next purchase was a mix... WAY more fun and cheaper.

good luck.
if you want something specific, and flowering time is no issue, go with tom hill's haze. if you want to try a bunch of strains and pic your fav's , go with Spice of Life's adventure mix, or (for a bit more sativa) ace's mix. both reasonably priced, and perfect for the novice.

try to stay away from feminized, you'll learn more and have good breeding males to make more seeds from if you like. and in the long run feminized almost assures that hermies will be present to seed your first crop.

All great advice, thank you so much.

Funny you should mention feminized seeds. A buddy of mine have come to conclusion that fem'd seeds are...in a way...a scam. You never get to pollinate to replenish, unless you completely shock the plant into a hermie state. So unless you have to means and know how to clone...which I don't, nor do I desire to, then you're stuck buying seeds ALLL the time. I do not like growing from clones..I've tried it. Much happier with seed growing.
So, point being, ending up with a male that I can control and pollinate a fem myself, is actually a good thing. I've been crossing my bag seeds that I've grown the past three times...and it really is a lot of fun to learn breeding and crossing. Getting bored of the same strains though...which is why I'm here looking at beans.

4 out of my 5 strains are from seed. im really impressed with what the amsterdam genetics can do. i would recommend a cannabis cup winners that are a year or 2 old, buy from the original seed bank. or just go with something like greenhouse, serious seeds, soma, or something like that. heard one bad thing about dna genetics, but this is the internet. any company 10 years old should know how to do this right. i got my seeds cheap, and they are from nirvana, but when i buy beans again its not going to be from them, ill probably fly over the pond and pick them up in person at a coffee shop. im definitely a fan of genetics from amsterdam.
