The Kernal's Oaxacan

Ok....Here goes! I ended up with 42 Oaxacan seeds. I soaked the seeds in a H2O2 solution for 5 minutes. Then planted the seeds directly into a starter tray filled with soil. Basically Tom Hill's Method except for the addition of the quick presoak. They were placed in a room set to 84 degrees.

The plan is to hopefully pollinate as many females as possible with as many males as possible.

I'll be keeping you all updated as promised with news and pictures:ying:

Thanks everyone for stopping in. Nothing happening yet and I don't imagine there will be for a few days. I'll get picks up as soon as something happens.

being the seeds quite old you think is the best to germ them straight up in soil? i tought paper towels would be a better method...maybe trying each method with some seeds is the best to compare results.
the best luck with this project!

Was gonna but I have had really good success doing it this way in the past. I believe the seeds aren't much older than 6-7 years and although by no means fresh, they aren't the oldest I've done using this method. You may indeed be right though. If the germ rates are really low/zero I'll def use the paper towel method on the other seeds in the box. Fingers crossed.

Nothing yet guys. Been about a week. Other seeds planted at the same time have come up and broken the surface already. I got a little nervous and dug a couple out. They looked good,as in not rotten or molded. I cracked the two seeds I dug up and they both looked white and healthy inside. The seeds were extremely hard and tough to crack. I guess were gonna have to wait and see. Still hoping for the best.

I think it is fair to say some pure/nearly pure sativa lines can take some extra time to germ i presume your oxa seeds are pure sativa. So dont stress it could take a while and on a final note this is a very good thing you are doing i hope you strike gold respect!!!!

I've heard the same thing. I've heard of hazes taking like 3 wks to break the surface. I've been monitoring them constantly. lol I find myself going back in to check every 20 minutes.:biglaugh:

Thanks for the positive energy.:ying:

This is what it looked like when I cracked them open.

THe pic says alot. If the seed was dead it would have been mush inside. Hang tight and best of luck.
C'mon little seedies, you can do it!

I've always heard whoc-soc-an or woc-soc-an (short o). Apparently I picked up an "s" that isn't there.

Here's Merriam Webster's "audio" pronunciation for "Oaxaca".

BTW, I think your method is best. If anything at all, seedling cup moisture can dry out between checks. Be vigilant on the moisture checks and best wishes. Depending on how fresh (or not) you might be looking at a few weeks. I've read as much as a month but that's just hearsay at this point.
