well the original post is like 3 years old, so they may have changed packaging, however I'm pretty sure the formula is basically the same. :)

I've read a lot about the switch to flower (12/12), but I havent really read much about doing in a hempy setup. I assume that is because its unsettlingly simple :D

Anyway, I just fed tonight. If I want to switch soon, should I just wait till my next feed and switch straight over to the full dose of flower nutes, and also pop the HPS in and go right to 12/12?

Do I switch the light and light schedule on wake up? or prior to sleep?

I know. I know. I'm over complicating it. :blowbubbles:

follow instructions on the nute's label.

switch the light when the plants are ready.

not much more to it than that.

This is just what I do. The first week or two of 12/12 (depending on how long the strain is going to be in flower), I feed a mixture of Grow & Bloom. For lights, a week before switching over to 12/12, I use my MH for 9 hours, followed by HPS for 9hrs. When I switch over to 12/12, it's just HPS. In one of my grow rooms, I don't have MH but T5's - so I pretty much do the same thing though times are a little different, T5 at the beginning of the day on for 12 hrs, the HPS is turned on 6 hours into the day, overlaps the timing of the T5 and runs for 12 hours. After the switch to 12/12, again its all HPS - though I have been know to sometimes still start their day off with just T5, then after an hour have the HPS turn on. Run both together until about mid-day, then off with the T5 and let the HPS finish their day.

Hope this makes sense!

I should add I like to give the last feeding before switching about the last hour or so.
Then when lights go out, I like to leave them off for at least 24hours before starting them on 12/12. Don't even know if it makes a difference. It's just a habit I got into, and it seems to be working so why fix something that ain't broke.

Do results differ if I were to use 100% perlite and add no vermiculite?

You'll get great results. When I ran it that way, I did notice I had to water a little more often, guessing due to evaporation. I use 2.5, 3.5, and 5 gallon buckets, so what I did was cut a center hole in a bucketlid, about 2 inches wide, filled the bucket with perlite, placed the lid on it and planted the seedling/clone right in the middle. When I watered, I watered both in the center and also around the edge (by lifting the lid slightly). It seemed to slow the evaporation down quite a bit as I could water like I did before.

Did you put the seeds/clones in rockwool?

perlite alone doesn't give the roots enough support. if you pick up the pot everything moves around. better to have perlite , and/or perlite/vermiculite, bottom, and some kind of organic mix on top - coco, worm castings, fox farm ocean forest/perlite.
you need less nutes and the weed tastes better.

Of course then you wouldn't be able to recycle your medium. If you use 100% perlite you can recycle it over and over. For support you can rig something up, not that hard.

if you grow in just perlite you can put a cylinder of chicken wire underneath the plant the roots grow through it and it anchors it better

i have a mix of perlite and vermiculite..so does this mean im not good to recycle unless i lose the vermiculite?
