read simons "perfect cure" thread and he said that right before going into 12/12 he removes all but the 6 or 8 top branches..i've never done that but it makes A lot of sense..those small nugs on the bottom never amount to shit anyway..please share yer experience..

Just tried it, or, more appropriately, am trying it now. I just hacked the shit out of everything, but I am about 20 days in...

yeah, i go through and clear off all the shit that wil never amount to anything. It is just a waste of energy and space. And it sucks to trim! :tiphat:

Hack that shit off bro. I always hack off all those little scraggly branches. I focus on just the tops anyway. After 1 1/2-2 feet there's pretty much no penetration with a 1kw.

I agree for larger indoor plants. If they're gonna stay really small (1 or 2 foot) and not crowded or if they're outdoors I don't. Just my:2cents:

Good luck on your grow!!!:ying:

a week before i flip, i cut off every branch that doesn't reach halfway up the plant.

after so many grows, i just kind of having a feeling and know which branches are gonna have the biggest nugs.

All Pop-Corn.

It depends on what sort of light and environment.

Basically yes most folks do not have the season to grow out even the pop-corn but pop-corn can be great!

I have two pint jars of the most excellent Tiki-jo here and it's smooth Indi-Haze.

So yes you can trim and let the top develop more if your lights are a bit underpowered as Cannabis can handle 90 watts per sq ft.

The general idea is to harvest all at once for most so they trim the inner growth to focus plant energy on outer growth but you don't have to if you have a multi-stage harvest like I did this year of three harvests and now a re-veg.

these were vegged way too long. I've got a small 150w hps that only penetrates a foot. all grows aren't this extreme but these are sativas and have barely stopped growing.

you cut everything on bottom half of plant?..can you tell a difference in size of the remaining nugs?

depends on style of growing:
1. if you're floor growing you gotta trim the bottom 6''

2. I find with stadium growing or vertical growing, it's not as important. I get ride of tiny or minimal. Most times i don't trim the bottoms at all I don't end up with popcorn buds.

cosmiccowboy, Merlin's Magic test grow, old school Acapulco Gold x C99. Vegged for 7 weeks and here's a few shots at 62 days flower. I guessing 3 more weeks, Maybe more for the 2 AG expressions.

no i don't cut everything on the bottom of the plant. i cut off every branch that doesn't atleast reach halfway up the plant. that includes branches that are on branches that do reach halfway up the plant.

so sometimes i'll have a branch that starts on the bottom inch of the plant but reaches all the way to the top. i don't trim that. but it'll have little branches on that don't reach halfway up..i cut those.

check out my journal in my sig for pics.

There has been an interesting thread going on over here lately dealing with increasing the 'popcorn' yield via 'defoliation'. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=174163
It's an interesting idea and could prove useful even if not used quite to the extent that the op there does it.

Also disco, that is some of the wildest training I've ever seen, ridiculous!

Anyone think hacking encourages hermie's?

The reason i ask is because i got my first hermie this grow from a 4th generation strain and the only thing i did different was trim more during flowering.

At what point in the plants life do most of you trim and do you do it in stages or all at once?
