I have a very rare breed, the italian "mustachio" cat!

J/K she's just an american long hair, with a strange mustache shaped spot under her nose, and is a 16lb eating machine, her name is flynn, but we affectionately refer to her as "the 18 claws of death"

I found her and her 4 brothers behind the washing machine at my apt building, when they were just weeks old, so I rescued them and mommy cat (got them all fixed), and adopted all of them out except flynn (mustachio), and her brother "KYU" (means number nine in japanese) which we kept because they stole our hearts.

I like when the universe sends you animals that end up being family.

Awesome cats. My wife is dying to get a couple cats, but I only want short hair cats that resemble some type of wild jungle cat (like yours!)

Any advice on how to acquire something like this? I've been to the shelter a few times, but the people there say they rarely get somthing that fits my description.

Savanah's are awesome as hell IMO. They do get very large though.

Also there are specific breed rescue's out there although not as many as dogs that you could see if any are close to you.
But realistically, after working with animals for 12 years now in shelters, you'd be amazed what comes into them. I've seen some very rare breeds and/or colors come through the doors. And who knows, keep an open mind and you'll never know what will capture your heart at a time when you least expect it.
My gf and I two years ago went down to the shopping center and stopped in PetsMart just to look around. Saw a few rescue organizations were there and in one of the cages was a cute little or.tabby furball. We eventually left and finished shopping and were getting ready to leave. As we were getting into the car I turned around and told her lets go back to PetsMart. He was still there. I asked to see what records they had to see what vaccine's he had and what blood test was done if any. Put in my application and 30 minutes later we were driving home with what is my best friend.....Jax. He was 2 months old when we adopted him. Here he is a couple weeks after adopting him;

and now at 2 years:

Great lookin kitty :) I have 2 bengals myself. My older one is leash trained and loves truck rides. They are my best buds though. They faithfully sit and stare @ the door 1/2hr before I get home from work waiting for me. Great cats.

Only annoyance I have with them or mine at least, is they don't meow like a normal cat. They let out a half whine/howl that bellows through my apt. when they want attention or start wrestling. LouD!

you too, he/she is adorable! my bengal also does this weird howl but usually only when she's in heat, the rest of the time she whines for attention.

Cute cat Yes! Bengal's are so great and they are so smart. Our Bengal opens doors too and eats weed right off the plants. She loves getting high! I love her howl's all night long and her bird calls!

I could not agree more!! ^
All of my kitties have either been found as feral kittens, or stray adults who 'adopted' me.
And they have all been amazing friends!

We found a cute, friendly little charcoal gray kitty hanging around outside, hunting birds last winter.
It was bitter cold and there are coyotes all over the place; clearly she wasn't being fed,
so I took her in and she has been my bud ever since!! :)
When she went in to the vet for a check up, (and to see if she had a chip),
it turned out that she's a Black Manx, with a 'riser' "tail"!

We call her Millie, (short for Mildred, lol.) And she is just the sweetest little thing! She is a wonderful friend!
She follows me around; is such a cuddle bug! And has just the sweetest voice! She even hums and sings! :)
And as you can see from the pix, she sticks the tip of her little tongue out, whenever she is content, lol.

I also have a beautiful little tubby tabby, named Jelly;
who was part of a litter of feral kittens found behind a psych. hosp. where I worked for a short time.
There were lots of feral cats that lived on the large campus and a lady I worked with took the litter home.
She was the last kitten left, and was in a little box laying on her back with her tiny arms stretched out to me when I first saw her!
I could have eaten her up; it was love at first sight!!

She knows she's gorgeous! And she is the laziest cat I've ever met!!
Which is ok with me, since I tend to spend a lot of time sick in bed;
and she is a fabulous cuddle partner!! :)

They are my dear little friends! I love them w/ all of my heart!

I hope this finds you and your kitties, all doing well!!
Enjoy every second with them!
