EZ-Cloner review

Never tried the EWC tea, but I've always gotten near 100% with my EZ60.

This last time I tried using it with a timer 15-on and 15-off and it worked very well. I potted all the cuts in 10 days. Water temps were lower. My EZ60 water gets really warm if run continuously.

I've also found that after 5-7 days, that foliar feeding with bloom food gets the cuts to throw roots.

Yo so my new ez-cloner is working great, I have the 30 site. Quick question. I just checked in the reservoir and a pocket of hot air rushed out on me. I felt the water and checked the temp with my bluelab combo meter and it said 23c so low 70's but the air felt much hotter. Is this a problem? Or is this how it works? Also the little cheap strip that reads the temp on the inside says it's 86! I trust my bluelab combo meter obviously more than the strip but the air feels much closer to 86 than low seventies.

In short: Is it bad that the air in my ezcloner is much warmer than the water or is that the way it works.?

It is just how it works. To reduce the temps just buy a timer that can go 15 on and 15 off. I get mine at walmart real cheap and work great. Doing this and using EWC tea should eliminate any problems + being able to use higher temps rocks for rooting.

have you tried 15on/15off vs 24/7 before? i tried 1on/5off and 24/7, i have found that 24/7 roots quicker than 1on/5off. i thought that 15min would be too long for the clones not to get splashed.

btw, have you seen the turboklone? i saw it the other day and seems like they figured out a way to combat the heat issues with the ezclone. it has a ~600gph pump (less heat than the ezclone 120's 1000+gph pump) and fan venting the cloner. and it holds 144 instead of 120. i own a couple of ezclone 120s (which are great) but i'm thinking about getting a turboklone to try out.

Has anyone tried simply adding a microbial product like GH Subculture B or AN Tarantula to the reservoir to eliminate the slime problem?

Well shit.. Here I am 6 days in and absolutely nothing has happened... Am i jumping the gun? I would assume that I'd see something by now, but nothing, they look just like they did when I took them.

I used straight filtered water and dipped them in the ezclone gel it came with.

What gives!!?

It depends on a lot, type of water, any nutes added to include rooting hormones, pH levels. Earliest I have ever seen myself was an actual root at 3 days. It is rare, but I do see it.

I generally just use a lower pH water and toss in about a 1:5 ratio of H202. Keeps all slime at bay.

Do you even see little bumps on the stems?

Thanks for the quick responses. I didn't take each one out but I found one cut with bumps so maybe they are coming... I will be patient, just hard when I see 8 inch roots on some peoples clones within 7 days.

Once the bumps show up, the roots come super quick am i right?

EDIT: I'm using colorado tapwater filtered through a small boy water filter. Colorado water is great, even better through the small boy. I'm sure the ph is probably a bit high around 7 I'd think but I was under the impression that it doesn't matter the ph when rooting.

yep, within a day or 2. Sometimes overnight. Then give them a few more days to grow some more...transplant and done. Granted I do not use the actual EZ Cloner, but the 8 site Daisy Cloner. For 60 bones it can't be beat.

I've ran an EZ cloner for goin on 10 years or so now, anything from the 30 to the 120 site. They kick ass, yeah you can make cheaper bubble cloners which also work really well but other ways don't root as fast or as healthy/vigorous as in the EZ. I've tried every cloning imaginable basically. EZ FTW!!

hi,i was looking at the cloners and i also seen they sell the spares for it
you know the pipe works with sprayers atached.
any way this looks like difficult bit to build if you are doing a diy job and they
are really cheap compared to the price of the whole units them selves,
i was thinkink ordering this part and get a cheap tub and pump to build my own.
or is there anything more difficult inside this system which i do not see?

the manufacturer recommends 6.2 ph but others here have said lower. i just got a 30 site ez and the cuts have been in a week, 72F, ph 6.2. just starting to see roots and bumps.
i am ok with 10-14 days in the cloner; works with my setup. hope the lower temps hold off the slime...

hey guys,

i recently scrapped the stock defuser / bubbler system the E Z cloner came with...
i added a 3, and 2 foot defuser. i get alot more fine bubbles, and i noticed a big difference in root growth in 2 days.
i suggest others do this.
the 3 foot defuser was open on both sides. and i used 1/4 inch hose, and T-fittings to add another place for the extra defuser.

I wholly suggest this now too! I just swapped the stock one out as it no longer passed oxygen through anymore and recommend this from the get go don't even use the one it comes with.

dunkybones

The stock diffuser that came with mine was defective, the holes weren't punched through, I've been using a stone the whole time.

ok, just snapped a pic.

the 3 foot is open on both ends. that wraps around the perimeter of the cloner, the 2foot, extra defuser wraps around the middle of the cloner. all split with T-fittings and the stock air pump!!
