Heys guys, I was admiring my babies last night when I noticed several of them have small pieces of lint, hair, dust etc on them!!! I felt like all my hard work has gone down the drain...or has it???? has anyone else had this problem and what can I do to prevent it, or what can I use to take the lint and crap off?

Hmm. This happens all the time for me, it's no big deal. Usually I just remove it when I trim, though it's usually not excessive. Sounds like you may want to be a little more hands off, and be careful wearing clothing with pet hair and dust on it, I put on a clean t-shirt when it comes time to do anything around 'em.

Why do you think you're hard work has gone down the drain? Never heard of a crop lost to lint . . . you know?

How much lint we talking about? lol.

Are you growing by a dryer vent? LOL
Buds are sticky as hell and anything that touches them will stick. Just get an air filter for the room. That'll help for a start. Be thankful it's just dust or lint. Try growing the sticki Icky with a gnat problem.....that's some shit when buds turn into sticky traps for bugs.

I use basic screens over my intakes & they pretty much take care of all pet hair etc. ;)

I have HEPA/MERV air filters on the intakes of my grow areas, they work great.

Good on you for noticing the lint, many people smoke their herb without ever giving it a good look. Smoking that stuff can be extremely harmful, especially if there are synthetic fibers present. IMO fibrous contaminants are a hugely under-reported danger associated with pot smoking, it is a very serious situation in some cases.

IMO the best thing for you to do would be to process all of your buds through mesh screens or bubble bags to produce "dry sift" or "bubble"; virtually all of the fibrous contaminants can be filtered out this way. Using solvents like butane or ISO is not a good idea as they may dissolve contaminants into the oil. Search the hash forum here for more info on dry sift and bubble wash.

Well thanks to everyone for all the advice, I'm feeling much better about the situation now as I am going to place a filter on the intake, and take out the ocilating fan and use some dust off to remove the lint and crap on it.Which I believe is the main source of the problem. then clean up the room. I'm growing in a closet by the way, so it makes sense that a lot of lint build up is present everywhere along with hair, etc.

etinarcadiaego: Thanks for the advice! i guess its not ruined, its just there were little dust bunnies and stuff all over the leaves and the buds have small hairs and fibers. i'm a newb cut me some slack no? lol

Bumble Buddy: Thank you for the words of wisdom on the idea of making hash instead and understanding my fears regarding smoking fibers and other stuff.

Thanks guys!!
