I think an iraqi sativa hashplant will be the next big thing. I imagine some soldier either has or is going to bring a seed back that they got out of one of those matchboxes of hash.

As cannabis is slowly emerging from the shadow of the crime, I believe we'll see a decline in cash-cropping philosophy. So no more of the super-fast, mega-yielding super-heavy strains to put you paralized on the floor, here comes the outdoor full-season grown, handled with care plants from the grower's backyard. And as people are growing for themselves quality of high will be the main goal, imo.Strains that provide truely psychedelic experience will be the next big thing, high full of emotions, something you can remember many years after the experience, that's what's worth looking for!

Haze... its in damn near everything and is a fourway landrace hybrid. I think it could fall into both categories, but that's splitting hairs.

yeh man,,,the next big thing is "specific chemical ratios" ,,,,,peeps crave different weed for different reasons,,,:)

You Nailed it!!!

i say Chem/OG's will be next legend in the Elite in the history line ,
But now there is also high end labs working on strains for pacific
separation THC and Cannabinoids
soon you will get a all THC leaning plant or equal across the boards and then a high C category plant , medical wise wil be taken even further

I agree Land Race strains are making a comeback! We need the Bros.Grimm to come out of retirement or someone along those lines to SHOCK the market!!!

Hybrids of Hybrids in that standard brands will emerge.

I agree with englishrick that the genetics are not being publicly maintained nor have they been.

I'm guessing the future will favor those who standardize genetics. Sure finding something new to sell is the easy path and even fun to travel to find them but in the long run we will need folks who maintain genetics. Heirloom seed savers are the only way we have saved many varieties of plants under commercial pressures.

The most commercially successful tomato is a green tomato for example but the best tasting or nicest canning tomato is other than that tough green orb.

But the whole planet is doomed so.. :)

What do you guys think will be the next big thing?

80's it was Skunk
90's it was Northern Lights
Early 2000's Haze was a big thing
Now it seems Kush is the big thing.

So what do you think 2010's will bring us?

Whats your prediction?

As far as seed sales and growers ae concerned I think the next big things is going to be poly hybrids made with Chem genetics. Everyone is hopping on the chem band wagon right now.

As far as the commercial marijuana business i think that is subject to where you live. Alot of people I know will take anything they can get thats pretty good but they almost wet their pants if you offer them some real deal haze. No one is growing the long flowering strains around here, most of what is available is really downy indica weed.

We will arrive no matter what the vehicle. What is a "Chem Bandwagon?"

Is this driven by gardeners or entrepreneurs?

We will make the Evolutionary pressure so who is driving?

Peace.

I want strains that have a more balanced cannabinoid profile. All these strains that have high THC and virtually no CBN and CBD just doesn't do it for me anymore. Bring back the cannabis that had 6-10% CBN

Nice Hammerhead. I want a cannabis that opens me to creative thinking.

Allow me to moderate. With that I humbly host rather than control.

Is it the preservation? Are we handling things in duellist modes or are we handling the fate of Cannabis in a singular mode?

I would assume the best thing for cannabis is open spaces and sun.

Again just a host post: Peace.

I agree that hybrids have gotten out of control but I believe their still the future.
My idea is that some strains or landrace genetics were not intended to be mixed by mother nature and result in unbalanced hybrids that lead to a rush of a high but have a weak vibe and no balance.
My thoughts are hybrids that prove to be a balanced high that seems almost natural is the future.
The future is not about potency but differences in effect of the high in my opinion. With legalization will come education and proper research, and that's what the world of cannabis needs.

Well, as far as the education who better to lead that revolution then us.
Philip Morris ain't gonna hand water 30 gallons at a time with expensive organic nutes. The big corporations and hopefully the government with be depending on us.
Imagine being backed by a MIT research team and given millions to better understand the intricacies of different thc compounds.
The growers who are the most dedicated, efficient, passionate, and on point will have a role in the future. Sorry to get off topic.
