`that postie up in donegal who predicts the weather got it right this winter
but the good news is he claims this summers to be a scorcher fingers crossed
for all the outdoor growers

Hiya Indica, was a brutal winter but hopefully the postie will be spot on.

tried digging today at a spot today, the earth was baked solid, makes me wonder if ill actually have to water my plants this year.

btw cookie is all your stufff in your garden or do you gorilla?

Bit of both Tonto, best looking will go in the garden and the rest will be free range :)

Evening to all the Irish tokers. Thinking of doing a first grow this year. I have opted for Lowryder #2 and it will have to be a guerilla grow. I'm living in the south of Ireland. Have any of you any tips for this strain under these conditions? I have heard various disaster reports but at the same time I have heard people say to me ... look ... at the end of the day it's a plant and it will grow.

Right, so some newbish questions :

1. For how long should I keep them germinating indoors? And how much sunlight a day should I give them during this stage?

2. Strange ... I know ... but how far deep into the soil should I actually put these seeds? I have never gardened in my life heh.

3. Should I, when planting outdoors, plant them in their pots or actually dig them into the ground itself?

4. How often should I water them, if necessary?

5. What other simple measures should I take to prevent ... say ... bug infestation? I'm planting five. Surely the crop getting ruined would simply be too unlucky to happen five times over?

As this is my first grow, I'm just looking for a modest success. My funding is pretty much nil and I don't expect huge yields. As long as some smokeable bud comes off those plants, I will be a happy man.

Thanks for any advice.

iv grown them:crazy:
id advise against them, with our weather and there size they got caked in mud from when it rained, one that did survive took ages and went mouldy.

sorry im sleepy, answer rest tomorrow:tiphat:

Thanks for the advice. So under my conditions, what would you grow? I don't mind switching plants, I just assumed Lowryder #2 as being the easiest to grow.

Hi Cookie Monster , good luck with your outdoor this year & will follow this grow . And i wish you all the best with the weather , i don`t know what part of the Island you are in but i`ve seen some of the mad weather it can throw up . Been to Cavan a few times on the fishing & love the Island when we went touring .
Funny story there , one of rorymullans posts said how unpredictable the weather can be . While fishing Killykeen Loch one august a storm came rolling down the water from our right , bucketed down for about an hour then the sun came out . 2hr later the same black storm cloud came rolling in from our left & came over us the other way . Never in my life have i ever seen a storm run one way then turn around and come back a few hrs later .

i`m outdoor w of london & appreciate how lucky i can be as the Atlantic is so far away .

Stay safe all . BGB

I hope i`m not treading on anybodys toes here if i answer a few of these questions for you .

Tonto was right , L/R`s are just not worth the trouble Guerilla grown for the reasons stated , also in my view the yield & taste are not worth the hassle .
If your`e completely new to growing try some other autos first , check out the seed companies . These will produce a better yield & a decent size plant that will show you how the plants grows & forms/flowers .

1 ; give them as much sunlight as poss & when you think the plant is big enough , transplant to plot .

2; when you plant a soaked/cracked/split seed (search threads for preparation of seeds b4 planting) place seed around 5mm deep .

3; when planting outside you need to prepare a hole , as big as you like & add fish/blood/bonemeal a handful of chicken manure pellets at bottom of hole (foxes like them) & some water retention , either shredded newspaper or water crystals . Plant in ground not in pot .

4; if the plants droop you know they need water , remember everytime you visit your plot you may be leaving a trail . It can be prevented & that question is answered on the UK Outdoor Thread . There are a lot of ways to remain undetected but you need a bit of outdoor knowledge , remember there are people that consider MJ criminal .

5; bug & pest problems are one hell of a long list , aphids , mites , slugs , snails , rabbit , deer ,rippers . & i`m afraid Diesel Ryder has me buggered :blowbubbles:

Read a few threads & do a few searches on slug prevention etc .

Stay safe all . BGB

Hiya Rezin  welcome to the other side of the pond.
The weathers been great lately, blue skies n sun the past few weeks.
Not sure the weather is really that unpredictable but when it is it's a pain in the ass, Rory is right about sep-nov tho.
Past few years were all grey skies and drizzle same in a lot of the UK from what i read.

Here's how the first lot are getting on, was getting too warm in the conservaory so their outside under plastic in one of those green house tents.

Think we had a few hours rain last week Tonto, been using the sprinkler on the veggies for the past 2 weeks tho..

I'd comment more if the forum would remember my login lol, just can never be arsed logging in cause i can get all info im looking for without. Looking good though lads, looking forward to seeing how ye get on.

Nice strain list tonto

Has any1 run a c99 outdoors in ireland ? She's not as sensitive as most sativa's and has one of the fastest finishing times ive seen ?

that what i meant by sensitive above, shes not light sensitive. Yeh she's bred for indoor use, our cold snaps could ruin her, and she most deffinately isnt built for windy conditions, but in a sheltered area, i think she may do quite well, your polytunnel setup sounds pretty nice rory.

I've heard of some outdoor growers who will erect a frame around their outdoor plants, wrap this frame in a woolen blanket and leave their plants out over winter to reveg. Has any1 tried anything like this for our climate for the normal growing season ? Wouldnt be needed year long, but might help through the cold snaps we get.
