Is there any way to get a Cali MJ recommend while on Vacation?

I know ya'll are the ones to ask.

OK, I am sure that I qualify for MJ recommend, and wonder if there is any way to get one while visiting in California?

what do you have to do to establish proof of residency?

can I give them the address of my hotel and say I just moved?

thanks for the input in advance!

you more than likely need a state issued picture id card to get a reccomendation from a doctor... but then again the doctors offices in venice beach may not care for the picture id as long as you have a receipt from the dmv for an id & a valid corresponding state issued id from whatever state you are in.... and then again maybe they'll not even ask to much about residency.

your best bet is to search/call the doctors offices listed on canorml (or in all the advertizements!) to get the information direct from them... maybe you can set up an appointment at that time.

to establish residency i belive you need to have some sort of mail (utility bill or bank statement)...

good luck

how to apply for a ca id card

how to apply for a ca id card

from: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm

How to apply for or renew an identification (ID) card
DMV issues two types of ID cards. A regular ID card valid for six years, and a senior citizen ID card valid for 10 years. To qualify for a senior citizen ID card, you must be age 62 or older.

To apply for an ID card you will need to do the following:

•Visit a DMV office (make an Appointment(s) for faster service)
•Complete application form DL 44 (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)
•Give a thumb print
•Have your picture taken
•Provide your social security number. It will be verified with the Social Security Administration while you are in the office.
•Verify your birth date and legal presence (you may use your California driver license)
•Pay the application fee. (No fee for a senior citizen ID card.)
Check your address before you leave DMV and tell the DMV representative if your address is incorrect. Your new ID will be mailed to you within 60 days. If you have not received your ID after 60 days, call 1-800-777-0133 to check the status. Have your receipt and/or old ID card with you to provide information when requested.

DMV will exchange a valid license for a no-fee ID card to drivers who are no longer able to drive safely because of a physical or mental condition. Please call your local DMV for additional information.

To renew your ID card, you will need to:

•Visit a DMV office (make an Appointment(s) for faster service)
•Complete application form DL 44. (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)
•Give a thumb print
•Have your picture taken
•Pay the application fee. (No fee for a senior citizen ID card.)
Double check your address before you leave DMV and tell the DMV representative if your address is incorrect. Your new ID will be mailed to you within 60 days. If you have not received your ID after 60 days, call 1-800-777-0133 and they can check on the status for you. Have your receipt and/or old ID card with you to provide information when requested.

maybe you dont need to have any mail...

What i found...

The California Medical Marijuana Program is an optional program that is regulated on the county level, not the state level.4 As of November 2008, all but a handful of counties had implemented a medical marijuana program. Counties that were not participating include Colusa, Madera, Mariposa, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, San Bernadino, San Diego, Solano, Sutter and Ventura. Alpine, Fresno, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Siskiyou and Stanislaus counties were in the process of implementing a program, so make sure to check in with your local officials on the current status in your county before proceeding with an application.

To register, you will need to contact your county. A complete listing of each county's medical marijuana program is listed on the California Department of Public Health website.

You will need to fill out an application.

You will also need documentation of the patient's medical records. (you would need to see a doctor and get a recommendation...the rules on this, idk)

The cost for registering includes a $66.00 state fee plus any additional county fees.

^^^^this information is for registering with the state as a medical marijuana user.... you dont have to register with the state to get a doctors reccomendation for cannabis.

That is correct, the info that was posted by tangerine is for SB420, which allows county to issue cards and keep a record of medical patients. To participate in that program you need to have a reccomendation anyway.

There are literally dozens of advertisements in local publications all over CA. Where you visiting? what city? that could help us give you some reccomendations as to where to look for what you need. For instance if you come to San Diego, first thing to look for at any store you visit is the READER, last 3 pages are all Dr's offices and dispensaries. I am sure other cities have something similar. Once you find out, call around to Dr's and ask them yourself. You just need to show proof of condition, a record of what you have been prescribed works aswell as any MRI or other scans which would show a condition to use MMJ for. You'll be solid Girl! If you head down this way shoot me a pm and lets get together for a session.

OK, that is good news. Can I get into a dispensary with just a dr recommend and buy weed?

I just wanna get my Dr. Recommend and buy some weed while on vacation.

Also living in a non MJ state, and if I got busted, it might help to have a Dr. Recommend from another state to get off from jail time.

So can I leave Dr. office with recommend the same day and go straight to a dispensary and get some weed?

thanks ya'll.

don't wanna move to cali, just visit for couple weeks.

Bad news is it probably would not be worth it, even if you could get a rec without a "california" issued ID showing proof of residency. The dispensaries won't let you in without a valid "california" ID card, so you'd still be locked out. They won't accept a federal government issued ID in lieu of state card, ie military ID.

I see better weed and prices outside the dispensaries anyway. Very few places in cali are lacking for weed on the street, just find our kind of people and they will point to the pot.

It is quite possible to get a recommendation from a doctor but not a state licence which most dispensaries wont even let ya in without a State Licence & State Card. A rec is usually not enough ta do much good as far as purchasing MMJ but you're at least some what protected with getting at least a rec while your there & using MMJ.

:tiphat: I agree with you here. Just as Good MJ can be found at a better price through good people around CA.

Actually wanted to take the DJ Short class and you gotta have a recommend I think to sign up at the college.

and I just wanna go into a dispensary and look around, drool a little bit, etc.

It sounds like something I want to experience.

so it sounds like I will need to find a forger and get a fake california ID card ;)

Valid reasons!
Try calling some dispensaries in the area you plan on visiting and ask their requirements, say something along the lines of you just moved here. They may let you in with just a temporary CA state ID or even your current states card.

Bottomline, the Dr's and Dispensaries placed themselves in a great "non-profit business" that they happen to make a profit from, they want the profit and calling ahead may get you an exemption from the dispensary or Dr.

I hope you get what you need, because it is an experience most should be able to enjoy at least once. I think we take alot of it for granted here, but I digress for now. Enjoy your stay here and take in every site you can. If you end up heading towards the san diego area PM for a pit stop get togehter.

When i was in California last summer, the guy working for the kush clubhouse said it was ok that i was not from California and they had the doctor and dispensary in the same building i think. So it must be guaranteed that you get buds.

I'm looking for a place in San Francisco that has a dr inside the dispensary. I will be visiting during the Medical Cannabis cup..any suggestions for doctors? I hold a dispensary membership from Canada. Thanks

I also agree, I know people who have not renewed in years. Mostly because you find better weed on the street.

Just thought I would point out a great case to know about:

People v. Windus

(2008): The Court of Appeal for the Second Appellate District held that the trial court improperly denied a medical marijuana defense to the defendant. The court held that the defendant's medical marijuana recommendation did not expire, even though the doctor who issued it required yearly evaluations. The court further held that patients are not bound by the quantities specified in SB 420, but may possess an amount of marijuana that is consistent with their personal medical use.

IOW: Just because your doc wants your money for a yearly renewal, it is not legally required. Once the rec is given, it is not automatically revoked in 1 year. You would need it for dispensary access I am sure, but as a patient and culivator, it is not neccesarry to renew it. Any lawer should be able to get charges dismissed.
