Clones are okay, but there i something to be said for genetic diversity (and keeping an eye out for males, of course).

Especially when the cut you have was from someone else's cut, from someone else's cut, from someone else's cut... You get the idea.

Yes, when I want a different variety it will be from seed selecting the best pheno.

I ran a 400 in 3x3 closet in FFOF for a while.

I ended up doing 16 in 2 gallon at the end. Had some bricks in there so there were 3 heights and ran it in rotation 4/4/4, 2 weeks apart. Start 4 harvest 4. It was a low stretch strain.

If I had to pick any of my current strains I would pick my bubba kush x deep chunk. It's 3 weeks older than the others and they are the same height, every strain caught up. Would have been perfect.

Around 8-10 ounces toward the end with the mystery strain. not a big yielder, vegged about 1.5weeks under cfl's

Clones are okay, but there i something to be said for genetic diversity, vigor from young seedling growth (and keeping an eye out for males, of course). Also, if the mother plant was older, that will express itself in the clone offspring.

Things aren't optimal when the cut you have was from someone else's cut, from someone else's cut, from someone else's cut... You get the idea. Hard to tell what is what in today's market.

400 Hps is great for a max size room of 4x4x4.

After that there are many options including verticle, collusium or just right on the ground.

You can squeeze an amazing amout of plants in that small a space. Genetics will play a large role imho but I would say you should do fine with 12, 3 gallon pots. Just rotate them regularly. 1 onz per plant dry weight is what I would expect.

wow seeing how some of you guys are getting away with even more pots under a 400 watt. with how bushy my girls are and having multiple tops i dont think i can get good light penetration. I am currently vegging under cfls, no real set amount of time, but until most plants are lst/topped/supercropped and have a few tops and are about 12-14" tall. I have some elevated up on empty smaller pots rotate them just about every day or two.

Im not really interested in autoflowers, i dont want to pay the electric either to keep the light on for 18-24hrs a day. Im about to start some nirvana's aurora indica, and have a big variety of strains going. have some PPP from nirvana, speed queen, a local widow cut, bagseed that i've been growing for over a year now, and a few other strains here and there, all waiting thier turn to get under the big light.

Thanks for all the responses! Im only about 3 weeks away from harvesting the first of perpetual girls in 2 gal pots. I'll be sure to post my results.

A 400W really only has a light foot print of about 2.5'x2.5'.

Outside that radius and your yields will suffer.

Light penetration is another key issue, difficult to grow big plants under a 400W unless multiple lamps are used hung vertically for top to bottom growth.

That is why I SOG. Put the clones straight onto 12/12 and when the stretch is over still have full light penetration.

so far i have 6 girls in under the light in 2 gal pots, and am trying to make room by cutting a few of the extra plants that i have in smaller pots. i have a speed queen that is almost ready to be cut thats in a 6" pot, probably in the next few days, cut 2 small tops to sample, plan to smoke some tonight, but will have a better idea tomorrow when i smoke it first thing in the day before i've smoked and had a few drinks already.

I also have a skunk #1 that have about another week or two also that is a 6" pot and then will only have one last PPP thats in a 1 gal grow bag, that will be the last out before i get all 9 pots in. so far its looking crowded in the tent, but we'll see how the buds turn out. im still hoping for more than a zip from the first couple of plants, and according to a good friends, he also agrees that i should have a decent harvest.

When i cut and dry and get a final weight, i'll post it and then see from there. I have multiple strains going so i will have some that will finish in 8-9 weeks and some that will need a full 10 weeks i think.

sorry for the long post, im just feeling good. haha

peace

I've run 16 pots in a 2x4 box named Bob. With c02 injection and proper rotation yields were always plentiful.

Im going to be going with the autoflowering route and will probably be using a 400 MH or maybe a 600.
Should be interesting to see how many I can fit under my 2X6 space

good luck clp! i have one more girl to go in next sunday and will have the tent full with all 9. I may have to let a few go 10 weeks, but we'll make it work one way or another. As long as its still perpetual enough to keep me supplied for a lil while.

clp-what size pots you goin to use?

This thread has been answering a lot of questions I've been having recently.
For all of those doing perpetual grows, flowering them as soon as you can, what size pots are you using and how many plants under your 400?
Also growing space size?

Right now I have a 400 watt light hanging that is flowering 3 girls that just got 12/12. They where vegged for about a week and a half from when I got them @ the nursery, they where about 10 inches tall when I topped them and then 5 days later today, started the flower process. they showed new growth and are looking great. They took to the transplant from the nursery soil pots to my 2 gal pots.

But I have two mothers that I am going to be taking clones off of.
And I am planning on adding in 3 or 4 plants every 2 weeks in either 1 gal or 2 gal pots(not sure yet) until i have no more room. I want to veg the clones for about a week, let them get good and root bound in their rock-wool cubes and then toss them right into flower.
But I'm not sure if I should use 1 or 2 gallon pots, and I'm not sure how many plants I can have under the 400 if I'm just flowering as soon as I can.

I am just using FFOF cut 50/50 with Light Warrior.
Hoping for good results, first grow ^_^
