Ive had my share of run ins with the little effers; still got a few buzzing around, usually, but not so bad anymore since i use mosquito dunks regularly.
I had a big issue with some sort of damping off disease recently; I'm using antifungal sprays that nipped it in the bud. Especially when you catch it early; definitely, prevention is the key to normal growth...
Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.

Looking better!

Looking better!

Bababooey, IamNug---thanks for the support. Things are turning around. "knock on wood"

Ok, so Lesson learned. A small problem left unchecked, Fungus Gnats,
had me reeling for a minute, but things are getting back on track. Nothing a 16 pound tub of Gnatrol, a bottle of Bayer pest control, and some tweaking of the environment cant fix.

Heres some pics from veg..........

Side shot of my moms[

A group of Lifesaver (sat pheno) that I barely saved from a misguided attempt to clone in straight vermiculite.

My yet unsexed Soma Lavender moms. All very uniform in growth.

The next two photos are my Lifesaver moms....

Indica pheno

Sativa pheno

A group of Sourbubble seedlings....

Heres a pic of the indica phenotype of lifesaver at about 2 weeks of flower. She throws out the super fat fatty fan leaves and packs on trics to the point that the buds look like glass. Pics of her at harvest
coming soon.

And just because I still hear people saying you cant clone in a clear cup............

Now to get things all cleaned up in flower and keep this train a rollin!

Nice shots. Everything looks healthy, looks like you're back on track.
The indica Lifesaver pheno looks great; you're going to have to post more pics as it packs on the resin. Those might be centerfold shots...

Thanks for the kind words Baba......

My photo skills are crap, but here goes.....

My indica phenotype of Lifesaver @ 56 days.
Not too stinky/tasty but covered in trics. We will see if a good cure brings out some flavor. On the plus side she is not a stretcher, and packs a punch in the stone department.

The sativa pheno.......my current favorite......stinky and tasty. Tastes like sour something, sour/sweet limes maybe and the stone is triple A. Oh yeah, easy to trim, clone and is not as slow in veg as her indica leaning sister. Remember these plants got the shit kicked out of them by fungus gnats...

Ok, so time to clean and fill that room back up.
The 1k table is getting 19 of the sat leaning Lifesaver, 1 of the indica
version and 3 yet unsexed Sourbubbles.
Heres the sat leaning Lifesaver before transplant...

I use a 600w to flower out moms that have served their purpose and that table has the Lifesaver moms, 2 of each, and 3 unsexed Soma Lavender , that are backed up with clones. I want to get some of that Lavender pollen and dust the Indica leaning Lifesaver to give it some stretch and some stank.

I'll bring some more pics of flower at lights on...........Caljim out!

So I went stumbling around in the dark trying to get a few decent shots..........it kinda worked, here goes:

The Lifesaver and Lavender moms, cut back to twigs and under some not so low stress training.

Next up the table of Lifesaver (sat pheno)

Same table but you can see the three unsexed sour bubbles sitting in the right hand corner and going back.

Lifesavers at 30 days, they got caught in the fungus gnat invasion young and it f@cked them up a bit.

Heres the Indica pheno of the LS. Not very aromatic or tasty, and slow to veg and clone . It does however provide a powerful indica body buzz and stretches barely at all. Good breeding material.

Since the great Fungus Gnat Epidemic of 2010 really focked things up for me every plant that goes into flower, starting with these two new tables gets a dose of imid on day 1 and served 4g/Gal. of Gnatrol WDG at least once a week.

I'm hoping this regime, along with better air movement under the canapy, cutting the coco with perlite (to facilitate quicker drying of the pots), and watering every other day will rid me of these pest. It worked in veg and fingers are crossed for flower.

Well thats all for now. I'll keep you posted as things progress.

Nice shots. You can hardly tell that they were affected by fungus gnats; they recovered quickly, it seems like.
How's that Imidacloprid treating you? I know it's used on tobacco, so hopefully it's safe to use on cannabis.
I've used chlorathalonil (Daconil) on my plants twice so far to keep away some sort of blight/rot. Works well, and safe to use on vegetables and fruits. I don't anticipate using it much in flower, if at all, and certainly not within 4-5 weeks of harvest, if i can help it...
For bugs so far Ive used Captain Jack's Dead bug brew, which uses Spinosad, an organic bug killer. Got rid of some thrips that were bugging me, pun intended.
Ive also got this bottle of Malathion pesticide, also safe to use on fruits and veggies. Havent broken it out yet, the fungus was bothering me more than the bugs. Have you ever considered using malathion? Did you research any other pesticides besides imid?

loving the thread, beautiful pics man. We really need to start a homebrewing section of this forum. It seems like alot of people grow and brew. Do you do all grain?

Hey Bababooey!, Yes, things are looking better now that the Gnats are the ones w/a boot in their ass. Steady application of Gnatrol WDG at 4 grams a gallon knocked them down and 2 grams a gallon every other watering seems to be working as a preventative measure. If I even see a gnat these days I'm kinda surprised.

As for the Imid (Bayer Tree and Shrub) it was the nuclear option. When things are looking bad, sometimes you have to way your options.
Now that things are "under control" I'm sticking with the Gnatrol.

A friend had suggested Malathion, but I already had the Imid and it was working so.....that was that.

IamNug---thanks for the compliment. Both of those Lifesaver phenos are testing nicely after a cure. And there are trays of each vegging under some t5s getting prepped for flower.
Tell ya what, adding a small oscillating fan to move air under the canapoy makes for a less hospitable environment for my uninvited guests.

Chemman14---Stop in anytime. I think there is a homebrewing thread started, but it doesn't get a lot of traffic. I dont do all grain, just add some grains to steep to add a bit more character to the extract. Works great for me, without all the hassle.

UPDATE: Put 3 Sourbubbles into flower, 2 came back males and are going to get worked for their pollen. 1 of 3 Lavenders is confirmed male, 1 female, 1 undecided. The males will get harvested for pollen also.

Trying to decide whether to pop some more SourBubble or get the Mandella Safari Mix freebies going.......going to have to sleep on it...veg gets packed with more than a few moms to make space for.

.
Been saving a seat for ya right up front Highlanger. And by the way if your not melted when your here its' a violation of the "Work free Drug zone" rules. Repercussions include, but are not limited to smoking vast quantities of fresh bubble and cleaning up my mess after watering........

Here we are at my first attempt to make some seeds. There are 2 SourBubble males and a Lavender male secluded in a tent running 12/12 until they take care of their business.

The plan is to collect some dust and then hit a branch on both of the SB and Lavender female phenos.

If all comes out well there should be plenty of variation to keep me busy for some time.

Heres the studs getting ready......

SBs.......

These male Sbs have got a strong sour lime stank.

And the Soma Lavender.......

The female Lavenders in flower have had a pretty reasonable stretch and I am so looking forward to some of their sweet flowers which I have not seen in some years now. Sometimes I really miss just being able to go to the club for some different flavors.

Any how I'll try and grab some pics from flower before lights come on.

Happy 420 to ALL:party::smoke out::party:

Happy 420! I hope you get lots of seeds and the cross turns out great!

:tiphat:

I'm thinking that "break a leg" may have been a better choice.Let me tell you why.

The males, which had just barely shown sex, were put in my old "Toxic Hydro Hut" which i had actually been using as a drying room. Bad choice, I had forgotten the grief the thing gave me and the good people at HYDrO HUT said that they had "repaired" this one.

Well after about five days of 12/12, under just a couple floros, the tops all started turning brown, stopped growing, and getting that sick yellow that is classic of the toxicity from the tents.

So I scrapped the group of them and will try again with some clones of the males that were way on the back burner.

If at first you don't succeed, pick your ass up and try again!

Sorry to hear that, caljim. Hopefully the rest of your grow is going good.
The toxic tent syndrome you have in that one tent sounds like a brown rot/blight issue I was having in my tents, but since ive been using fungicides my plants are happy and green.

If at first you dont succeed, indeed. Several times ive had to restart projects because the first try or two failed. Perserverance is a virtue...
